New Gran Turismo 6 trailers [Complete blowout: All cars/tracks/features/etc]

...hate me...
The GT cycle is hitting me hard. Usually it's massive hype followed by 2 days worth of gameplay before calling it quits.

I don't care, bring it.

My G27 is ready.

The new trailers and this car list make me want to pick it up but then I watch the videos that showcase the actual gameplay and audio and it just puts me off so much. PD had a great opportunity to showcase new tech with GT5, and now GT6, but they still can't seem to get the feeling of really racing down from what I've seen. I applaud their UI update and the physics and tire upgrades but I can't get over that sterile feeling that GT has. I'll probably pick it up when it's on sale and after the DLC+patches have released, and I actually really look forward to what they're gonna do with the PS4 GT.

Hoping for a PP cap on races (looks like this may be a thing), and the return of manufacturer races -- the ones where you used to be able to go into almost every manufacturer's showroom and play through a bunch of car-specific races.

GT5 shipped with 221 premium cars, so about 170 were added.

Thanks. That's an underwhelming figure. With GT7 needing new tracks AND some heavy upgrading of old tracks AND adding new cars etc. etc., I really wonder how long it will take before we see the game on shelves. Even though Kaz says it will be done in a year or two!?

They added 3 new E92 M3s but no E30 or E46 :(

Also they seem to be counting standard to premium conversions as "new".
Seriously. Can we get a fucking e30?!

Wow. Just checked the track list. Underwhelming. I'm a huge GT fan but I'm waiting for a budget used copy.

They have cars coming as DLC.
But I agree on the tracks though, PD has a massive wall to climb regarding tracks for PS4.

From what I can see and track - from GTP to GAF to my small community - they responded to almost each and every they could and that were reasonable IMO

For instance, if somehow they allow for the oil to be changed in the pits prior to the online races, I can officially announce how each and every single "wish" I personally presented to Kaz over his twitter from 2010-2013 has been covered. I know it is just my small personal universe of wishes, but I can't fathom how can anyone say PD is not listening.. from Spec 2.0 to current 2.15 and all these announcements for GT6.. I can only see how all major community wishes have been covered one-by-one.

If some type of livery-editor (that Kazunori himself hinted few months ago) appears in the final pre-release fact-sheet with all final overviews such as community options, online and rest, it will be a GT game nobody even could dream about.

There is no single area they haven't cover or upgraded or announced they will upgrade. Also, the sheer amount of details presented today is astonishing, all those that have prior knowledge about GT series can read so much out of data they've presented today.

Yes, please ask for leaderboards. At least in the Nurb... that track just screams comparing cars and posting times... or Tsukoba that has so many power lap shows and time attacks... it just ads so much! I kept playing Prologue until GT5 came out because there was always something to do with each car.

How did you guys determine that this wasn't the final car list?

Mercedes and some others have announced some cars that are not in the list, so either it's a lot of DLC or there's more to come.

Also, if the base model cars are what i asked over the years, it's perfect. No need to model the Autech Nismo and the Yellow hat Nismo. Just model the base model + livery editor = all the variations in.

I would be more than willing to assist. I will have some spare time next weekend. We should also get a GT6 NRL (NeoGAF Racing League for the uninitiated) OT up to launch side by side with the GT6 OT.

Wait for me guys! I'll be on vacation in the USA in december, so i'll only play this in january. Hope to see you guys there.

Just soaking all this in, there is very little to legitimately complain about.

I mean, Porsche (out of PD's hands), livery editor, event creator, 4k poly trees (HW limited) and sounds (acknowledged). Those are not small items, but basically just about every single other complaint has been addressed.

With a steady stream of DLC, online updates, new features (as detailed), and community events GT6 will last a very very very long time. Certainly long enough until GT7 is unleashed upon the world.

It's gonna be awesome, but i disagree about Porsche. It's not out of their hands, it's about paying EA what those fucks are asking. I mean, i understand they are using Porsches in NFS, but they are not using any Porsche racing car, and this is a travesty. Their history on the racetrack means there's like 50 racing cars worthy of being played, and yet no game offers us a chance to do this, unless we are talking about mods.

Either do this or model a bunch of RUFs including a few LM or touring car variations.

The screenshots are awesome but they always make you think "imagine how great i could be with high poly textures using all of that 8GDDR ram".

Their next gen trailer is gonna kill us next year. :)

What Porsche does with their brand IP is their decision. EA may have a deal with them, but ultimately Porsche controls what is done with their property.

What makes it "out of PD's hands", is that the relationship between EA and Porsche is more than just monetary, there is a direct personal relationship that has been fostered for over 12 years, since NFS Porsche Unleashed. I would not be surprised if PD and Porsche/EA also had unsavory negotiations and there is a bit of "hurt feelings" involved as well.

PP caps would only work if they redone their entire PP logic. Hopefully they learned with GT5, because it was hit and miss. A 600pp Takata Dome NSX absolutely murders a 600pp Lexus Denso GT500. Time trials and events with PP limits were always aout finding that money car.

Remember the ZZII "regular car" dominated lobbies?

Yes, PP needs some work.

GT5 shipped with 221 premium cars, so about 170 were added.

But look at the quality. They are choosing their roster way better than in the past. GT2 and GT4 had a lot of clones and WTF cars, this time we are getting a bunch of quality cars. Diablo GT2? yes. McLaren GTR short tail? yes. And yes to a bunch of others.

It's very impressive that they finally started to get what people expect out of the car roster.

They have cars coming as DLC.
But I agree on the tracks though, PD has a massive wall to climb regarding tracks for PS4.

Hopefully the "one new track each month as DLC" quote will be truth, because completing the Prologue weather widget and then bringing back some original tracks should be a must. After that it's just refining course maker and seeing what players are asking.

A game with 1000 cars and 10 tracks will get boring way faster than a game with 400 cars and 40 tracks, so hopefully they understand this too.

Looking at some of these menu screenshots again, I've noticed that the license tests seem to be integrated into the career properly. Each event will give you a number of stars, and once you reach a certain amount you'll be able to do a license test. Once you pass the test you'll be able to move on to the next tier of events.

Just now seeing this. Those trailers are dope, especially the second one. All the info sounds great too. I played the crap outta GT5, so I'll be picking this up whenever I'm no longer broke.

Like this?

Just grabbed one of these off EBay because of this post. I figured, for 30 dollars, I can't really go wrong - fairly decent reviews for it on Amazon.

Might be my frustration then. I remember reading that when Forza got Porsches it was because they went to EA to make a deal, they had the power to share the license or something in that sense.

It's crazy to think that Porsche Unleashed was the best use of the license so far, and that was 2000. Car deliveries without scratching the paint, old racing models, some 959 godness, all in one game.

They never got it right in the cop based NFS games.

I guess there's always the mods on PC games...

One thing tough, in the start of this gen Ferrari was the first big GT announcement. Maybe they will want to add another strong brand in the future gen. Knowing how much Kaz likes the 911's i have to say they at least gave it a shot or are still trying.

Most of this should've been in GT5, IMO.

Additionally, in another update we will add the possibility to generate a track by capturing the GPS coordinate data of a mobile app while you are driving that course.

However this is cool if it means people can make sprints based on roads they ride daily. If not, well... letdown like the course maker in 5.

If you have space for it, I'd recommend spending the extra $50 and get yourself a Driving Force GT. Playing a racing sim with a wheel is on a totally different scale of immersion compared to playing with a controller.

IIRC MS traded the Ferrari license for use in NFS Shift and T10 got Porsches.

TBH, they are both crap. You can get it a G25 used for cheap, and it's really the best bang for your buck wheel. Also, if you somehow break it, there's lots of parts on ebay to fix it, and lot of mods for pedals/shifter.

It's worth every penny, does the same thing the G27 does for a cheaper price. If only the brake pedal was a little better, it would be 10/10.

The G25 FFB feels like it is made with a bucket of bolts and chain saws after you use the G27. They are the same wheel on the surface, but I could never go back to the G25 after upgrading to the G27.

There is one car I would like to be in this game, you would think because of Kaz and Polyphony Digital's relationship with Nissan this would be a given.

Nissan Versa hatch.

It's my real life car. It was also in Forza 3, using upgrades and engine conversion I turned my real life car into a 980 HP monster that was capable of reaching Bugatti Veryon level speeds of 240 MPH on that giant oval.

For the Versa hatch to be in GT6 would be nice, it's not a race car but it's just something I can play around with in time trials and stuff.

I've gone the wheel route before (360 wheel with Forza) and loved the immersion but found that it was just too much of a hassle to use and store. I may look into a Logitech wheel eventually - this hybrid controller seems like a neat device for now.

Totally agreed. A solid Racing Wheel for a Racing Game is not so much different as using a good Arcade Stick for Fighting Games and Arcade Classics.

In some ways it improves the immersion and gameplay experience.

Be still, my beating heart...

-Still no Premium Mark IV Supra, still no Premium AE86. Perhaps we'll get these as DLC one day.

-UI looks slick as fuck. Hopefully it works that way too.

-The addition of these "base models" suggests that maybe, just MAYBE we might see a livery editor down the line. Maybe?

-PD are still trailer gawds. I've watched the latest one at least 10 times today, plus the music is catchy as hell.

I thought that too. For GT6 though I guess they're just blank slates that can be painted different colours, change the number, etc. Maybe have a basic generic livery like the RM/Touring Cars.

And yeah, the lack of obvious standard -> premium conversions does suck. Maybe they're saving them for GT7 (since hopefully this is the last outing for standard cars) and decided to focus their resources on adding a lot more non-JDM cars.

Real tough time deciding to get this or to wait for PS4 version. A cross-buy offer would change my mind.
PD are shit when it comes to Euro cars though. They should impose a 50-car Euro catchup onto themselves. The next 50 cars they model should be from Europe and include lots of moderately priced alternatives as well as classics.

Kaz has already said the "PS4 version" will be GT7....youre not going to see GT on the PS4 for at the bare minimum a year

I fully expect at least 800 of those vehicles to be standard.

The racing looks incredibly lifelike, as usual.

I really hope this time they make the AE86 a premium model. It should have been a no-brainer for GT5 yet they fucked up and made it a standard.

I wonder what happened to the inclusion of the Seattle Circuit? ... It was first shown in the Acura NSX Concept video [another car M.I.A from the offical car list] alongside the updated Apricot Hill track back in June ...

Seattle used to be my favourite street circuit by far!

I wonder what happened to the inclusion of the Seattle Circuit?

In an interview, Kaz hinted at some old tracks being DLC. So I expect Seattle may be included in those (We are also missing El Capitan, which was in the GT5 trailer!)

I just woke up and watched the trailers again to make sure I didn't dream it last night... Nope. It's real :)
