If this game has way better handling and physics than Gran Turismo 5, then this is a must buy for me. It looks absolutely stunning.

Details on the the Mercedes Vision GT

For the new PlayStation® 3 racing game Gran Turismo® 6, the Mercedes-Benz designers have developed the visionary concept of a super sports car - the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo. Extreme proportions, sensual contours and intelligently implemented high tech blend to form a body that visually brings to life the breathtaking performance of 430 kW (585 hp) and 800 Nm of torque. As a 1:1-scale model, the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo is celebrating its world premiere on 19 November 2013 at the opening of the new Mercedes‑Benz Research & Development Center in Sunnyvale, California. The super sports car with its hallmark Mercedes gullwing doors will be taking to the virtual racetrack when the new racing game goes on sale in December 2013 - as the first of the "Vision Gran Turismo" series of vehicles.

Another eye-catching feature is the radiator grille - a reinterpretation of the wide Mercedes-Benz sports car grille with central star. Its shape is reminiscent of the legendary 300 SL racing car of 1952. However, instead of classic louvres the grille of the show car features exclusively LEDs. The variable LED grille with different light patterns is a further development of the diamond grille introduced with the new A-Class.

The exterior design, which is systematically and passionately geared to motor racing, is congenially mirrored in the interior of the two-seater. Inspired by the Formula 1 cockpit, the red integral sports seats blend into the black flooring of the footwell to form a protective shell.

The central display is optimally positioned in the driver's field of vision: it takes the form of a glass surface floating directly above the racing steering wheel with its shift paddles, and shows all the relevant information such as road speed, engine speed and operating temperature as required. Operation is by rocker switches in the centre of the dashboard and in an overhead console, like in a jet. The steering column visibly penetrates the firewall to the engine compartment, creating a visual connection between the driver and the heart of this super sports car, the AMG V8 front-mid engine.

The AMG V8 biturbo engine delivers an exceptionally agile response to even the smallest movements of the accelerator. It develops 430 kW (585 hp) and a maximum torque of 800 Nm.

The AMG sports exhaust system with eight tailpipes integrated into the rear end provides a powerful accompaniment whenever the car accelerates, and ensures an unrivalled motorsports sound experience. For fans of Gran Turismo® 6, the Mercedes-AMG sound specialists have created a powerful, sonorous exhaust note that authentically celebrates the V8's love of high engine speeds.

New news at japan GT site says, that digital PSStore version of GT6 will be available and it weights 15GB, so you will need 30GB of free space just to download and install it. After installation it will be bigger than 15GB for sure (uncompress). Add patches, DLCs, (probably) optional movies as separate downloads, etc so I will say that 60GB is ok. Go for SSD if you plan to use it only for one game (that small size in now cheap and it will give tremendous boost to loading times vs HDD).

It has been evaluated and compared and due to the hardware bottle necks (it's a sATA 1 connection) of the PS3 getting a HDD faster than 5400 rpm (this is the speed Sony recommends as well) is a waste of money for one going in the system. So SSD is an extreme overkill that literally won't make any difference.

And yes, it really is like that, tried that myself - very noticeable speed up, from loading times through navigating menu to browsing car lists.

Hmm, this is interesting. I was already toying with the idea of buying a cheap 64GB SSD for when the PS4 converts my PS3 to a GT6 machine. A bit OT but is there any reason I should not buy this one? Sandisk are OK right?

They are cameras, so it works!

You are fugly, and your opinions are fugly. (You don't like the tail?)

lol.

I dont like the car at all, the tail, the big grill, the huge stupid rims, the oversized front. Basically the headlights are the only thing I like.
I will pick the SLS AMG over that huge monster any time (or the SL65 BlackSeries).

This car looks to weight 3 tons.

Agreed, they just need to make it shorter. Much better isnt it?

It would not be a streamliner body tribute than. It is not a production model, it is a concept showcase vehicle.

And that short one Niks.. it is ugly :p

Yep, the Mercedes Vision GT concept takes design cues of cars of the 1920's to 1930's. The curves and the long front for example.

In fact elegance is all I see. I see so many cues from classic Benz cars from the 50s and 60s.

The point of this project is to make concept cars with radical designs, not "ho hum" everyday "production" cars, just keep that mind for the rest of the Vision GT designs.

You are right indeed, however, radical isnt always equal to beautiful imo. Its the same case with the Citroen GT concept. (oversized pancake look)
In any case, its great that we are going to get all these concept cars from all these manufacturers. Photomode will be a joy.

Already posted several times but dat rearview camera, lol!

Concept car is concept. The shorter .gif'd one looks better, both look fugly IMO though.

I played GT5 a couple days ago for a bit. It was difficult to stay awake. [/not a troll post] The game lacks soul. GTR2 is old man river in the racing game world and it's much better. #PCnotthesameasPS3

How did I miss this. This is the real news and not the concept car. I really hope they're going to make it available in the US and EU store as well.

e: I also completely missed that they're going to shut down GT5 Home on gran-turismo.com.

Yep, I really hope that other regions get that - I can`t see any technical reasons why not. If EU store will publish it, I will choose this version over disk one. That bonus car pack is a nice addition too.

Oh I hope they put this on the PS Store, I would much rather have this running off my hard drive. They need to put it up for preorder soon I would imagine.

I'm stunned looking at that car. My god. Might change the wheels though.

Yeah, the car looks amazing but somewhat bulky and undexterous. Shortening makes it more agile[looking]. Though if you do shorten her, you may not be able to mount the motor amidships.

I think the digital versions are already up for preorder on the store.

Regular - £49.99

Special Edition - £59.99

Hopefully those links work, but if not just search for 'Gran Turismo 6' at the webstore and they pop right up.

14.3GB download, 20GB recommended.

Going to cancel my pre-order with Game and grab that, just hope you can pre-download.

I'd do the same, but I've got one coming from Amazon for £40, not really worth a tenner to go digital as presumably it's going to install it all from the disc anyway (or maybe even be better off disc as it might stream from both a la GTA5). Also, I'd lose the Amazon pre-order cars.

Still it does mean I could get the Anniversary Edition without giving GAME any money... hmmm, decisions, decisions...

I wasn't aware of a PSN version ! Great news ! And here I thought I wouldn't be able to play GT6 due to my PS3's bluray drive not working anymore !

Those 20GB shouldn't be an issue once I remove the GT5 stuff...

Waaaaaat? Did I miss a thread or something?

http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2013...order-now-available-in-game-credits-detailed/

In addition, from launch at retail you’ll find a new option for building your ultimate fantasy car collection in-game credits will be purchasable through PS Store or your friendly local retailer at the following denominations: 500K, 1 million, 2.5 million or 7 million credits which you’ll be able to apply in-game for cars and parts.

Purchasable currency, that doesn't really bother me, doesn't affect my game experience. If someone feels the need to accelerate the purchase of a certain car then go for it I guess. Some people may not have the time to sit and play career and if they have disposable income then why not. As long as I can earn the credits in game it is fine.
