Be the First to Drive the Mercedes AMG Vision GT

Oh boy i can't wait for GT vision only online rooms

And I'm sure there will be car specific only rooms for other vehicles as well. It's called A One Make Race.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Changing the subject, I think PD is going above and beyond expectations for the 15th Anniversary of their series.

I mean I'd hardly expect other Japanese developers would treat a mile stone in the same regard that PD has with GT6 so far. (SE treating FF's 25th Anniversary with more Lightning, and Capcom treating Mega Man's anniversary with near total ignorance of his existence, being some examples.)

I'm talking about things like the partnership with Aryton Senna Institute
http://www.gran-turismo.com/us/news/00_5354623.html
Getting entirely new concept cars made in real life and in the game from 18 separate manufacturers / companies for the Vision GT project
http://www.gran-turismo.com/us/products/gt6/vgt/
Getting recorded GPS data from your real life track performance to be transferred into the game itself to analyze your run and find means to improve it or create a better racing line
http://www.gtplanet.net/gps/
Being able to use GPS data to create a customized track from the planned route you drive every day
http://www.gtplanet.net/gt6-course-maker-gps-data/
Or getting tire model and suspension model improvements from collaborating with Yokohama and KW Automotive
http://www.gtplanet.net/kw-7-post-rig-gt6/

PD didn't have to do any of these things, in fact they could just as easily just made GT6 the equivalent of GT5 Spec 3.0, but they didn't and they are actually going above and beyond expectations I had for this game. The Vision GT project making real life concept cars alone by itself is a large enough project without being incorporated into the game, and I'm quite sure the costs involved are couple hundred million (arguably more then the costs of the game's own development)

I think the thing with buying in-game credits with real money being entirely and totally optional is rather small thing when you consider everything else I listed.

Meanwhile, turns out Forza 5 has fallen into the exact trap that some people here expect GT6 to fall into, according to Eurogamer. Ho hum, so much for that.

Paying real money, not even for ingame currency, but just for an XP multiplier, holy shit, how brazen can you get? My brain is having trouble processing just how fucked up that is.

Ironically, the concept itself is fine, if they'd linked a persistent multiplier to in game performance I'd be all over it. For example, imagine that every corner you take well you get a 0.01% boost to your multiplier and every time you touch the grass you lose 0.05%, so as you get better at the game, you are rewarded more and more. But charging real money for it because you've stripped all the variety out of the game making the grind unbearable? Fuck off.

Anyway apologies if this is too OT, I just wanted to express how dismal and depressing such a thing is to me.

Press release explains the spoiler difference.

Gran Turismo 6 players will soon be able to choose an alternative version of the virtual Mercedes-Benz super sports car. The "Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo Racing Series" offers further enhancements over the regular show car which was presented as physical 1:1 model in California [LA Auto Show]. To ensure perfect downforce and therefore great handling stability in tough racetrack conditions on PlayStation 3, the Racing Series has a fixed rear spoiler while the show car version has an extending variant of this integrated into the boot lid.

If anyone is interested in picking up a wheel for GT6 and doesn't want to want to break the bank.

MicroCenter is selling a Thrustmaster Ferrari inspired racing wheel which normally has the MSRP of $70 for only 40 bucks.
http://www.microcenter.com/product/423264/RED_LEGEND_WHEEL_PS3

There is very little details on this wheel because it just came out back in September of this year. So in the age of accessories and peripherals that is very new.

http://www.thrustmaster.com/en_US/Пресса/thrustmaster-unveils-its-new-ferrari-licensed-racing-wheel

Now for sure this wheel won't be as good as a Logitech Driving Force GT or G27, or even the much more expensive Fanatec or T500 wheels, but for those who don't own a wheel and want a mid-level racing wheel that is normally goes for $70 everywhere else, this is a viable option.

Well after looking at the pictures from the Los Angeles Auto Show the production model of the WRX is just ugly. I wanted the concept. I got. blah

It's too bad. It sort of came close to the concept but it's almost as if they got more and more scared of overdoing it as they worked their way to the rear of the car.

I'm back in hype mode despite the credit/currency shenanigans. I just want to live life a quarter hour load screen at a time again.

As you know, I am a big fan, since the very first opus that I imported from Japan on PS1...I don't think my opinion on GT is less relevant than yours.

You GT defenders should stop hiding behind the game history and start to try to listen to what we say. Because just like you, we made the game successful. Our point matters.

You can disagree with what we say, but just disregard it with "it's GT, you know what to expect" is just condescending and actually not helping building a discussion.
.
Do you literally ever stop complaining? So much hate. Every post i've seen from you on GT for years now has been to trash it. It's not tiring, at all? I mean, you know you could move on to the next sim racer. You really are a hardcore fan.

Gold, if you need any help with anything graphics-related, please ask.

Well if you read all the threads that are popping up about Forza 4 TERRIBLE microtransactions structure ($50 for a car what?!) ... he has a point.

Heres to hoping PD and sony handle this in a reasonable manner. We have to wait for the game to come out.

I hope they've improved the AI...

I went back to GT5 and forgot how hollow every race feels. You don't get the feeling that you're racing at all.

I don't think i'll get GT6 if it feels the same in that regard, it's just not fun and emphasises the grind.

The AI has been pretty bad in past games.

But to me, the battle has always been between me and the track, rather than other racers. But then again, I'm more of a Time Trial guy.

I love TT as much as the next guy but AI has to improve.

I played a little GT6 at Eurogamer and felt the AI was a step up from GT5. The one thing that bugs the hell out of my with GT AI in general is that if you play rough with them they back off so much and just let you through. Means that once you overtake, you're done with them, instead of overtaking then going on defense to stay there.

LTTP on the grinding discussion, but i´m with Gutterboy on this one. I missed out on most of the fun on GT5 grinding and building my garage.

I love the PC sim approach of just driving the cars. It´s one of the things i wish console sims would get. Having a good carrear mode doesn´t necessarily mean grinding out for cash, that´s stupid.

If i had a cheat code to unlock all the cars at the start of the game i would do it. This isn´t 1995 anymore, i can´t play videogames for 10 hours a day.

The first six months of GT5 for me were awful, and i plan on changing that for GT6. If it means missing out on some races for not having the right cars, then so be it.

I know Amar feels very strongly about the car ownership factor that only GT does it. I agree, but to me that doesn´t mean i have to replay Sunday Cup 50 times just to buy a new car.

Carrear mode should be entirely different. No BS make believe money, no XP points, none of that. If it´s a sim, just do it like real life. You´re a race driver, you drive different races, you have your race team, something like that. Since it´s a videogame, the "videogamey" aspect of it would be jumping from class to class, or race to race in a way that doesn´t happen in real life. Not some stupid XP system that´s based on reapeating.

XP sould mean skill, so in that sense you could go up and down and in the end could be used for bragging rights or for some online events. "only drivers with a rating 85 or higher can enter this one", and to achive that rating you would need proper racing skills, not using the 88c-v 100 times against a bunch of Lupos for grinding.

GT6 doesn't use an experience system.

All of the cars are apparently available in the dealership. The only barrier is money. Of course there obviously will be cars withheld as prize cars as is the tradition with GT series.

GT5's problem was that money had a cap. (How many times people actually lost credits for when winning a seasonal because of the cut off point due to the 20 Million Credit Cap)

I assure you if there was no cap, and from the money that was "cut off" I didn't because of it. It was easily numbered in the hundreds of millions as I play GT as a car collector and not so much a racer, that is going to change though with my recent wheel purchase.

The only thing that sucks about micro transactions IF the game economy stays relatively the same, is the rarity of preimium cars in dealerships will go down. No longer will the Ferrari P4 be rare :(

At the used car dealership will make certian cars rare and maybe cars you win by getting gold on special events.

I never liked the concept of an economy anyways. Especially since even having the fastest car in the game (the Redbull X2012) doesn't imply the driver is remotely skilled to properly drive it.

Also considering they are still have cars valued in the double digit millions
GT6-Menu-dealer02.jpg

The Lamborghini Miura in this menu screen is good example.

With the apparent information topic over at GTPlanet semi-confirming all cars are available to buy in the dealer, the game will of course be about getting the money to buy the specific cars you want first before all others.

Career mode aside, I think the game is going to more emphasis on player skill online. People can bring their 1200HP Cars or OP'd Redbull X2013's or whatever, they can do whatever they want in public driving rooms but in private rooms such as the NGRL (NeoGaf Racing League) things will much more tightly monitored and such chaos will be contained.

I don't plan to buy credits with real money always. Sure I want to get one of every single car in my garage (that is my main goal), but economy wise it doesn't effect me much.

I noticed that the online mode now includes lobbies and quick races. I hope shuffle racing is still an option for lobbies and hasn't been relegated to quick races only. On which note, I hope quick races don't drastically cut the number/population of/in public lobbies.

Sorry for the noob question but I cant find it anywhere, are all the cars premium now???

That car list in the OP doesnt say.
There is no difference between cars now in terms of use and features but most cars uses old-gen assets yet.

~400 uses next-gen assets (you can them Premium but there is no differentiation in the game).

But when you mean use and features, you mean they all have full interiors?

Here's some new screens from Famitsu:

(Just a note: The credits in the Japanese versions of GT are based on yen).

It seems you're forced to make the Fit RS your first car. Wasn't a Fit your first car in GT PSP too?

I doubt they'll "force" a specific vehicle on players at the beginning of the game. You'll be given credits to choose whatever starter car you want as it always has been.

No, look at the Honda dealership screen. The player clearly has enough credits to buy every car (except the S800 Race Car) but they're locked out.

EDIT: Some Ascari footage from GTPlanet.

No, they just don't have the distinction between "standard" or "premium" anymore. The standards visually look better and can even be used in Photomode, now but interior wise they have a basic interior that is uniform across all of them, They didn't say a black border interior like in GT5.

I doubt they could have fully modeled interiors for the 800+ standard cars in 3 years anyways, especially considering PD is small studio.

Basic interior equal for most cars... the difference now is that you can use all cars in the Photo Mode or all the tunning parts is available to all cars too... so all features and use are equal for every car in the game.

There is nothing that you do with a Premium cars than can't be done with a Standard (in GT5 you had limitations) so there is no more division between the cars (just one big list).

The differences will be only in graphic quality of the car.
