New GTA V previews

They great thing about those codes was you could put in the sequence reeeaaallly quickly once you did it enough times and memorized them. I could enter some of the ones that ended in left+down+right+up (x2) in less than a second since all you had to do on the d-pad was makes circular motion with your thumb lol.
By the time I was almost finished playing through GTA III I was a God damn cheating master. I could input like 5 of those bitches in 15 seconds from memory.

Never cheated in any of the games after that, though. Pretty much got my sandbox mayhem fill from GTA III. I rather linearly played through the narrative of Vice City and never even finished San Andreas.

I also played GTA IV fairly linearly. I think I finished it in less than 20 hours.

I played so much GTA III in high school that I completely burnt myself out on experimenting in sandbox games for pretty much ever.

This will look like such shit if it's only on PS3/360. It HAS to be on next gen.
And if it's not on PC I will kill myself.

I'm going to try to keep myself from going overboard with hype. I remember being very very excited for GTA IV, and while it's a good game certainly, it had many flaws that to me, made it my personal least favorite game in the series.

All of this news certainly does paint a great picture for the game though, like a San Andreas 2.0 if you will.

I think Radio Gaga accounts for more than half of the reason why I love Michael's trailer so much.

I think it might be one of my favorite game trailers of all time.

I wasn't familiar with that song until the trailer hit and now I can't get it out of my head. Dying to hear what they have lined up for the licensed music.

I hope Rockstar lets us input codes like the OG GTA's. I freaking hated dialing in numbers.

I want to press L1 L2 R1 R2 left down right up left down right up and get a weapon set immediately.

Codes would be an odd omission given the whole world is open from the start. I can only imagine they're well aware the culture of buying a GTA only to go completely nuts in the sand-box is still alive and well.

Damn at those previews! A HUGE world to explore with al these awesome things you can do...

Possible on 7 year old consoles with only 512 mb RAM.

Bow down to the kings of the sandbox genre!

Like every GTA it will not be a day one pc release, most likely a few months later with possible porting issues. GTAIV still requires you to launch the game from the .exe in the steam folder, shit does not work launching from Steam.

I would love to eat my words.

Making GTA V under the RAM restraints of current generation consoles must be a burden I wouldn't wish on even the most despicable beings.

no fat no buy

"The main thing is at a technical level to get the changing scale of the character - to get them bigger and smaller - is hard, and in San Andreas the standard definition graphics were more forgiving; doing that with three different characters - we definitely thought about it but decided it was impossible.
We just weren't going to get the results we want with the way the rest of the animation system works. It was just not worth making compromises elsewhere.
"
- Dan Houser, in the Game Informer reveal.

Seems reasonable, fat CJ was funny, but i always thought it was a chore to keep him always in check, so he didn't get super skinny, super buff or super fat.

Just played some GTA4 on the old dusty 360 to get an idea of the visuals and performance I'm in for in GTA5 and damn, as a PC gamer this shit will be rough!!

I kinda adjusted to it after 15 minutes, it stopped looking so bad and the visual style and atmosphere took over, so if they improved the on-foot controls into something pleasant and snappy, I think I can do this!!

Papercuts

fired zero bullets in the orphanage.
I'm pretty excited for the potential of the underwater stuff they're implementing here. I really liked the little bit they messed around with in SA, like the stealth mission swimming through rocks, going on the ship and stabbing people. IV not even letting you dive was another of many massive steps back from that.

K I am assuming bro step is dubstep (which I agree is shit and i feel like everyone is tired of it already) but what is EDM? Electronic dance music? HE'LL YEAH.

You got it. Brostep is specifically "Skrillex style" dubstep, because dubstep itself is a rather large and vast genre.

A wonderful female friend of mine took me to my first rave right before Christmas last year. I have already been a fan of EDM for years before that, but I do have a newfound appreciation for the genre.

And MDMA.

You guys should watch the GT Pop-block videos of the trailers from Tuesday. They point out some cool stuff, but they just use captions instead of editors rewinding/talking over the trailer. They cut the voice work and just let the music play. They're awesome.

Pretty much I'm cool with anything that doesn't involve Greg Miller.

I feel the same way

The game is sounding AMAZING

but it will be a huge disappointment to only get the experience with 7 year old hardware.

playing it at 1080p and 60 fps would be absolutely glorious instead of sub-720p with ugly IQ

Ps4/nextbox please.

No longer have a ps3 and this is the only excuse ill need to jump in for next gen at launch.

Bundle would be awesome. MS, Sony, one of them better make it happen.

"Visually and technically, GTA V is such a leap over GTA IV, it blew me away."

This is best exemplified by the incredible attention to detail when you go underwater. When Trevor threw on some SCUBA gear and hopped off the side of a boat, I was expecting the usual sparse underwater trench with a few floating bits of seaweed – not circling sharks, deep underwater ridges, schools of fish, a barnacle-encrusted wreck and shafts of sunlight shimmering through the water. It’s properly explorable down there, assuming you aren’t crippled by a paralysing fear of sharks. You can literally dive for sunken treasure. This marks a huge step forward for Rockstar’s worlds.

omg tell me more

So let's say you're driving along the dusty back roads of Blaine County and you happen to see a hitchhiker looking for a ride. Sure, you could pick him up and drive him to wherever he's going. But where's the fun in that? So why not drive him up to some remote peak, let him out of the car, and introduce him to those friendly coyotes and mountain lions? Or coast your car off a dock and see how good he is at fighting off sharks. Or take him up to some winding cliff-side road and plow your car through the guardrail, looking at your terrified guest as you proclaim, "Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you had a parachute too. Well, good luck!" just as you deploy your chute and safely float down to the flaming wreckage that was your car. Anyway, you get the idea. You can do some messed-up stuff with these new side missions.

yea why the fuck not

He dives off the side and the Blaine County sun does its best to follow him down, its rays refracted by the water’s surface. Rounding the bow of a sunken ship we swim right into the path of a couple of sharks – dangerous enough to warrant their own icons on the radar, but tamed for the purposes of our demo. The sea is as alive as the land, then, and just as well. GTA V’s landmass is three-and-a-half times the size of Red Dead Redemption’s; include the sea and the world is five times as big – and this time, the whole thing is fully explorable from the word go

its almost too good to be true

For the bigger jobs, you'll also be able to build out your crew beyond just the three core protagonists, perhaps hiring additional drivers or other specialists who have their own skill levels and who take a cut of the overall score that's proportionate to their skills. Will you go with cheap help who take a smaller cut but might botch the job, or will you put together a costly but skillful group of seasoned professionals? Instead of just playing through an action sequence that might remind you of a scene from one of your favorite crime films, you might get to do something closer to designing your own incredible heist sequence. Eat your heart out, Michael Mann.

yeah eat it you fuck

Yea to be honest that character trailers should have came out before that 2nd GTA 5 trailer. Looking back at the 2nd trailer alot of it begins to fall in place.

I mean EDM in the American sense, which is the mainstream 'big room' stuff like Swedish House Mafia.

I'm holding out hope for Detroit techno/disco/chicago house/Brainfeeder (pretty likely I think)/New York deep house/London bass stations :)

SHM was still pretty cool, though.

It was a fine line, but we managed to carve out a tiny slice, talk about the fundamental changes to mechanics, and keep pretty much the entire game a secret. As it should be. It’s not about lists of features, it’s about the being able to hear about the world’s mechanics, look at a few screens or some video of gameplay (and as always, it’s almost all gameplay) and imagine the possibilities.

The whole hitch-hiking thing reminds me so much of the random encounters from Red Dead Redemption. It will be glorious!

I just want to know how little of that information slice this was oh my something!
If this was just a tease about mechanics, size, etc, then I am really looking forward what this game has to offer on top of this crazy good souding madness!

Yay

Also if anyone would have problem with that gif I will take it down.

That's really exciting. I expect the character arcs in this to be broad and the campaign in general to be crazy and huge. One if those stories where you get to the end and you realize how far you've come/how much everything has escalated.
