macOS Sierra 10.12.1, released yesterday, includes hidden Apple Pay images that depict the brand new MacBook Pro with an OLED touch panel that's set to be announced by Apple on Thursday, October 27.

In addition to confirming that such a product is in the works, the images give us our first full look at the redesigned MacBook Pro ahead of its launch. An OLED touch panel is located on top of the keyboard, where the function keys would normally be placed, and it very clearly supports Touch ID, as it is seen used with Apple Pay.

As has been rumored, the touch panel, which may be called the "Magic Toolbar," appears to be contextual, changing based on what's on the screen. In the images, Apple Pay dialog is depicted, asking a customer to confirm a purchase with a finger on the panel. It appears Touch ID is built into a nearly-invisible power button located next to the display.

This was brought up in the even thread, but it looks good and the only thing I am worried about is the keyboard feel.

Quoting myself from the other thread:

For those who don't remember or never saw the bottom case leak, which this new picture matches perfectly:

Thinner, bigger trackpad, four USB-C ports and a 3.5mm jack.

No SD card slot is going to sting a lot.

Looks nice, but all USB-C is strange considering their own devices don't even support it.

Not very courageous it seems. Why not ditch the headphone port since everything else needs a dongle

Shocked apple wasn't courageous enough to remove the 3.5mm jack.

what kind of courage are we expecting?

CourageBar

Don't all make the same joke at once now guys. lol

I haven't been following the rumors so this may be known, but is it safe to assume it's going to a keyboard similar to a MacBook? Would be really disappointing to me if true.

I wonder why there's no case leaks or images from macOS of the 15" version? Could it be possibly only the 13" is getting the updates this year and they were waiting for more appropriate processors from Intel for the 15" next year?

if Apple is going all in with USB-C why the hell don't they use it on iphone too?

On which end? Lightning to USB-C cables are already available. Using USB-C instead of Lightning would break compatibility with a huge existing ecosystem with no reasonable replacements available (the HDMI over USB-C spec was just finalized a couple months ago, for example, and audio over USB-C was standardized just a few weeks ago).

hey guys, you know whats really funny and clever?
making jokes about apople having courage

Dude, after that laughable reasoning for removing the jack Apple deserves those jokes. One needs to point out dumb marketing crap.

I wanna see the receipts on the discrete gpu model. Wouldn't be surprised to see them completely cut out a discrete gpu model, which would honestly be awesome because my 650m model will probably appreciate, not depreciate in value.

326 for those headphones? Wtf.

they did do that already with the 5 so...

If they're really doing the full combo of USB-C only, no function keys, shitty keyboard, and no GPU, I might just buy a 2015 model if the spec upgrade isn't huge.

Too bad they probably won't use Nvidia GPUs. The fact you can cram a 1000 series GPU in a laptop is nuts.

I'm personally interested to see how this touch pad will affect the industry.

Is it a guarantee that the 2015 models will have a price drop when the new ones release? Getting one as a gift and want to make sure I get the one with an SD slot and regular USB. If there is a drop coming I'll wait.

You seem to be arguing that because the ecosystem was locked and people bought in that we must continue to perpetuate it otherwise it will collapse, which is basically circular. When do you expect it to stop? They aren't moving because that a lot of accessory sales and lock-in to give up. I personally get frustrated it's treated as status quo, they need to be called out on it, it doesn't matter if it's been 5 years.

Seriously though half measures are the worst. Either kill the port or don't. It just seems lazy to keep it at this point.

That's a Macbook alright.

I was hoping we'd get something new in the design department but it's looking pretty bleh.

I wonder if they'll release it in colors like the 12" Macbook.

I know it has already been said, but what's up with them keeping the headphone jack in their computers if they are so insistent on calling it ancient and phasing it out of their phones. It seems like they are contradicting themselves by doing it.

I actually love the SD card slot a lot.

Same with HDMI.

Apple's obsession with removing ports is getting annoying.
