Letitia Wright is a pure b-movie actor with little talent that lucked into this role, maybe she can step up and deliver in this movie, but based on her previous work it's gonna be a hard cliff to climb. Okoya, all she does is overact. She has one mode of acting, angry and brooding, that's the only thing she does.

The effects are AAA, and the budget is AAA, but like a lot of the other Marvel films, they have a mix of rookie and experienced actors. It results in awkward scenes and campy moments, like a b-movie. Black Adam was a b-movie with great effects too. That terrible kid alone made it feel like a b-movie. You know, those moments where you realize that the director has low standards on actors and don't give a shit if an actor is ruining scenes with bottom-tier acting.

The first trailer was pretty amazing, but these clips are not looking too good. The action looks terrible and the effects have that floaty, cheap look. Like a made for tv movie.
Still seeing it, but like some, I thought the first was insanely overrated, but still in the upper half of Marvel's output. This can't be any worse than Thor L&T.

A B movie merely means it's low budget and the studio doesn't expect much of a return on it. The term dates back to the silver age of cinema and has never changed. It's therefore an oxymoron to call big budget, AAA films that studios are counting upon as being box office smashes (like Black Panther) a B movie just because you didn't like it or didn't like certain aspects of it.
And that's my pointless forum nitpicking for the month / year, thank you!

No shit. It feels like a b-movie because it has b-movie elements, like a weak plot, poor acting, and stupidity. The budget obviously doesn't classify it as a b-movie.

I can't see the new crowd being even B, let alone A.

There's one thing you're not taking into account and I know you're not from the states so it's understandable but that one thing is Mexicans. This sequel will be huge at least in the States due to Namor and all the Mexicans that will turn out to see it.

People dead getting replaced, I can't see the appeal for a general audience.
I'm happy to be proven wrong. Comics did it all the time. Just seems odd after the blockbusters as the budget/writing will surely suffer.

Yea the main draw tragically perished, and they didn't replace him. Just keep in mind that who you consider a big box office draw as an actor in your country may be an unknown in another country.
This is why I never bother with such conversations about foreign films (box office and box office projections). I have no idea who's big in China, or India, or Korea, etc. So I just don't personally speak on it.
A reminder Marvel misled fans with CG hulk in one of the shots in infinity war ads and trailers. So that all too obvious shot of BP immediately drew red flags. Marvel knows what fans expect and they know a single shot like that will draw more talk about the trailer.
Not sure of their stance on secrecy has changed, but the lesson should be never take Marvel trailers at their face value.
The first black panther to me was at its best when there wasn't typical comic book battles, as that's when the whole thing fell apart with the janky CG work.

Yeah, but there’s a LEGO figure and POP figure of her in the suit as well. And the actress has top billing.
I don’t think the Hulk comparison is really valid. In that shot, they needed an action group shot for the trailer, but didn’t want to spoil Bruce not being in Hulk form.

Ah I'm pretty much done but they did replace several. Iron Man, Captain America, Black Panther (guess no choice there).
Just after watching all the films there's little hype for me. Then again anyone new, I'm sure there could be but having watched them in the cinema, the draw would be more for new fans to establish them again. I'm happy they are but I feel it pointless. I've no interest but a younger crowd is watching so could be awesome for them.
I'm not hating, as I mentioned I used to collect comics and it happened all the time. Just I've had my fill already, and am happy for that. In the comics they just repeated arcs. I'm nor going to the cinema again for that, I'll catch a stream maybe. End game was the ending for me, the characters aren't Superman or Batman reboots. They exist in the same time-frame. Jut no draw for me but more power to those it is.
James Gunn did it right with his films as he kept changing them. GOTG though wouldn't be even close to the popularity though.
So was plausible in his case, he has a different take though.

Good for them, personally I found the comics he was in to be boring so have little interest. Aquaman was boring in the comics too but Momoa brings him to life on screen. Still wouldn't go to the cinema for a film about him though.

Just the way it was dealt with is known. I didn't even like the only film I saw him in and thought it boring.
Tragic not only his death but also how it was treated.
I'm tying this into character replacement, nothing else. Knew the character, not the actor. Point being it was callous to so quickly trade him in. It's undeniably what happened. Impossible it wasn't.
Not trying to sound callous by any means. Point was they're doing it for them all. Alive if they left, or dead if the died.
I find it messed up.. No doubt his contract stipulated it but the other characters replaced ... contracts ran out. They obviously said no, he couldn't. His estate did.
That is messed up.

Plenty of Marvel actors were relative unknowns and were loved or liked depending on the role and performance.
Sounds crazy doesn't it? No a good actor in a good role is loved. Could be from Mars, at least now we can blame a bad one on Elon Musk.

Saw it yesterday in IMAX. By far the best movie of phase 4, in terms of direction, acting and subject matter.
For sure a beautiful tribute to Chadwick, and although his presence is sorely missed, this was probably the best way to handle his passing.
It's not perfect, it certainly drags a bit in the middle and a big fight scene later on in the movie was somewhat messy, but overall I was really satisfied with this movie.

Saw it yesterday. It was OK. The slow pace would have been fine except that there were several unnecessary characters slowing down the plot. The white CIA guy that ruined the first movie for me is back. Less annoying but there is no reason for him to be in this.
My main complaint is that it felt really small scale. This was supposed to be a showdown between the two most advanced civilizations on Earth and yet most battles were hand to hand combat and the armies of both were capped at about 100 soldiers. I know vibranium changes the game but it seems like a small, simple, old school bomb could have taken both armies at once.

This is a great film. Its well made, well acted, well shot; and a well told story.
Idk where Tenoch Huerta has been but he needs to be a superstar. He had a lot to do and communicate in this movie and he killed it.
Letitia held her own and stepped up to s much bigger role than I know she was expecting. She really showed her strengths here.
Lots of emotional resonance. Anyone who's lost someone close will feel it in this movie. And I think that's something special

Moon Knight, Loki, Ant Man all have women partner who are better than them. Captain America they made a black guy so they can't turn him into a woman just yet and I don't know about Shang Chi.

Crazy how downhill Marvel has gone. I didn’t like the first Black Panther, although the character can be excellent in the comics. It felt too slow, Black Panther (in costume) was not in it enough and the CG looked really bad to me. The guy they cast was good, although in retrospect they are probably kicking themselves for not casting Micheal B Jordan who was outstanding as Killmonger in Black Panther.
It’s too bad Killmonger died off because he could have had an incredible character arc to become the new black Panther.
