Thin the collection by getting rid of one of the most unique and least prolific types?beermonkey@tehbias said:I've got to start thinning my Gameboy collection...time to get rid of the old Gameboy Pocket Light.

Well, I called Nintendo about it this morning...Shig said:I'm having a really hard time finding any info on this that didn't originate here, all from the same poster.
Just saying, is all.
It's not a complete redesign, just a slight upgrade to the existing line, probably having to do with the price/availability of the LCD screens. The Faceless Master said:i can't believe they didn't add a headphone port!

ElyrionX said:To those complaining about this issue, why don't I see a similiar outcry when Nintendo released the SP to replace the original GBA? Isn't that even more deplorable?
terrene said:If it doesn't have a headphone output, it's still not the perfect Game Boy.
Next week: A GBA SP that is side-lit, but has a headphone output!
Later: GBA SP that is backlit and has a headphone output, but delivers mild electric shocks when you press the A button.

In any case, I echo your rage.

Suck it up and eat some crow.
Frontlit washes out the colours, backlit doesn't.ElyrionX said:Errr, I don't see what's the fuss here? Isn't the present GBA SP perfectly well-lit and all? You mean that when it's totally dark, games can't be played on the SP?
I don't get it. What's the difference between backlit and frontlit?

The GB Micro is stupid and imo it just lost it's only true appeal/advantage (backlit screen) since now the GBASP is having one.
Don't get me to fucking buy your product if you intent to make it better over and over.

Edit - Also, don't want to read through the whole thread. Is the packaging any different to indicate the upgrades? How will I know if I'm buying an upgraded SP or not?
Unless you really want one now, you'd be smart to wait. As I said before, this screen will almost certainly make it into the DS at some point, and I'd bet on it being more sooner than later.Jade Knight 08 said:I may gonna to wait it out next year (after E3 '06) and cuz i have a feeling Nintendo might pull another stunt.
OOC, why on Earth would they even do this? Did they not realize it has the potential to majorly cut into sales of the Micro? It seems like such an odd choice to make, right before launching Micro. Unless maybe the profit margins on backlit SPs are really high?
The DS can't really be classed in the same generation as the GBA, can it?
