New Ninja Theory game to be announced this week at TGS.

I know I'm in the minority, but I'd be down. Loved HS, and Enslaved is awesome from what I played.

DMC4 was alright mechanically, but its clear their creative juices are tapped when they had top copy/paste the second half of the game to boost the play time. Bring me a good action game with some semblance of a story, NT!

We don't have to wait long for this, famitsu leaks in a few hours and according to kotaku Capcom's announcements are going to happen on Wednesday, it's probably going to be on famitsu if it is DMC5, well lots of other things from TGS are going to be on famitsu today, best issue ever!!!

Capcom is officially dead to me if this turns out to be DMC5.

Also the first half of DMC4 is great and the game doesn't even come close to deserving the hate it receives. Unlike DMC2 it is a very competent and fun action game. Does it disappoint compared to the masterpieces that are DMC1 and 3, sure, but it's not a bad game.

I don't hate it, but no Western developed created an action game as good as Ninja Gaiden:Black, Bayonetta or DMC3 and most people didn't really enjoyed Heavenly Sword.

It's hard to have a positive reaction to this possibility.

Western developers can't create a good action game period.

Well DMC is old news anyway.
Time to look towards the future with uh...uhhhh...Bayonetta 2? Oh wait that's not happening either.

Wow the action genre died in a hurry.

9 years is a pretty good run.

:(

There's going to be a lot of disappointed gaffers. The game will be called "Devil May Cry" unless they've decided to stick it with a subtitle.

What makes you think Bayonetta 2 is not happening?

Heavenly Sword was good, but it's not a game that I feel shows that Ninja can make a DMC. HS lacks variety and while it's level design was cool looking, it was pretty meh. DMC needs focusing on these two problems. Also HS's combat was sloppy and didn't jive well. Combat is what drives DMC. I'm not sure if they could match that.

Also the series is pretty in your over the top Japenese super action. I doubt a western studio could match that flavor. Sure I belive NT could replicate the art, but not the direction. But I guess if any western studio could it's them.

I rather this not happen, but we shall see.

What happen to Capcom? They keep changing thier mind on this western thing.

well , just remember , Bayonetta is SEGA's IP , so if Platinum Games go to other publisher when their deal with SEGA expire after Vanquish ( most likely I don't think they will stay with SEGA anymore) , SEGA will keep Bayonetta and SEGA will abuse Bayonetta to no end ,so just pray that it's not Sonic Team who handle Bayonetta IP when Platinum Games go to other publisher.

Why don't you go read a book if you want a story and let action game developers focus on the action part. The problem is, Ninja Theory hasn't proven themselves to be sufficiently capable in the action department.

It's a great series even if 2, 3, and 4 are deeply flawed in various ways!
I'm pretty sure 2 is perfect.

Yep, perfect.

Why wouldn't Platinum stay with Sega?

It would be perfect without the gift-giving minigame and/or if it let you play all four sidequests and obtain all bracelets in one playthrough!

Also, if it had the R1+X ranged-weapon controls from Onimusha 3.

Onimusha balanced DMC's luck streak, in Onimusha it was the even games that were the best.
4 has the worst combat in the series by a mile and is basically an awful ARPG instead of a pretty-good combat game but I liked the co-op and puzzle aspects of it!

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

Capcom, don't do this to me. I want to believe again in your greatness. Believe.

Well, lucky for us, it's not Onimusha 4, it's Shin Onimusha, so maybe Shin Onimusha 2 will be a good game!!

But Shin Onimusha 2 is not going to happen...

What if it turned out they were doing RE6 instead:lol

on DMC...
I hope there is at least an co-op bloody palace mode, not a co-op story mode.

Personally I want HS2, but since that's probably never gonna happen I'll take whatever.

Pretty sure that Enslaved is going to be a a solid game that bombs hard. I think these guys are underrated devs.

yeah, considering their recent trademark I won't be surprised if it doesn't have "5" in the title, maybe a reboot?

Dawn of Dreams was really, really good in the Japanese version. Unfortunately it was during that time period where Capcom was actively fucking up the US versions of their games.

Well, technically you wouldn't need to trademark the five.

However, since they trademarked it as DMC instead of Devil May Cry, I'm inclined to agree with the reboot theory.

I haven't played the US version, but Shin Onimusha was awesome (except the stupid magic issens). I've heard the US version has terribly inflated health bars, which sounds pretty crappy.

They're just getting a hard time of it because they're the ones Capcom have outsourced DMC to, any developers would be getting the same treatment.
I'm sure Enslaved will be great.

yes, that's what I meant.

I wouldn't mind that at all.
At first I was ready to agree with you. Then I thought about how awesome a proper Japanese-developed revival game could be. Think Ninja Gaiden and Shinobi (which is good in theory but hard as fucking hell) quality. I think I'd rather NT do DMC, than ruin a franchise I've been waiting to see made in 3D for years.
