Should I expect some kind of notification from EB about picking up my preorder? Haven't preordered from them before. Won't be able to go in to get it until around 4:30 after work.
Okay cool, just checking.Brian★;139714636 said:Uhh, no. Just go to the store you preordered and pick it up.
Yeah it is pretty awful. I can't do glossy finishes on electronics. It was that, the lack of a White XL and the coloured buttons that sold me on the regular.Man that glossy finish on XL is hideous. Might have finally pushed me over to getting the regular instead.
Haha really? Where you at?Waiting for doors to open at Big W. My competition is a bunch of school kids. I got this.
Yeah man, that's insane!
I'll have to remember mightyape when I want things on launch day in Aus.
I arrived at Big W in Newcastle just before 8am to see if there was anyone lining up. Count 3 school kids, nothing to worry about. I walked over to Officeworks, bought a 16GB Mirco SD card and went back to Big W. Cue there now being 15 kids, a group of ordinary shoppers and a few guys in there 20's who seemed to be 3DS buyers. 8:27am, with the doors about to open the staff, detecting a sudden rush of people, yell out that there is to be no running in the store. As the doors open, the entrance is blocked! The staff push out trolleys forcing myself to duck and weave through them. Take that slow school kids!
I am first to reach the game section of the store, but there are no New 3DS! As everyone catches up all the copies of Pokemon are taken nut the 3DS is nowhere to be seen. Enquiring with staff proves fruitless, they state they have plenty in stock. (Sigh, brand confusion Nintendo!) A younger member of staff appears and gives me a nod, he knows what I am after. He retrieves a black N3DSXL, yet forgets the charger and Paper Mario as per the advertised Big W bundle. As me and two other guys wait, I joke about swapping out Sticker Star for any other game. No one laughs.
Suddenly! An elderly couple appear asking about the N3DS! I become an employee of Big W and decide to help them. After explaining the difference between the 3DS, 3DSXL, 2DS and N3DS they simply state they are buying for their grand daughter who asked for Animal Crossing, Zelda and Pokemon. Feeling an urge to make GAF proud, I direct them to all titles and explain that a 3DSXL would work out best. Big W dude appears and finally, I bought my N3DS.
Conclusion? AusGAF'ers should go out and buy the system now, stock is very very low out there. System itself is superb and well worth the upgrade.
I have very slight lines on each button if I shine a light on them. They all point in the direction of the button, like the A has a horizontal mark on the right side, X has vertical mark on the top side, etc. Must be something done on purpose I guess. No big deal.My screens are both on the warmer side, and matching, so I lucked out there, as that's exactly what I was hoping for!
But does anybody else's a/b/x/or y buttons have slight marks on them? Doesn't bother me at all but it seems tad odd.
I have a silver DS Lite, and the glossiness is great. It's not smudge-able like white, and it doesn't show fingerprints, like black. If N3DS XL ever gets that finish, I'll get it.Man that glossy finish on XL is hideous. Might have finally pushed me over to getting the regular instead.
You can have finger prints to make a CSI blush, but it was the right call to make the high end model glossy. it looks stunning. Here's some pics. Amazing device.
I'm gonna need a good grip for it. Anyone got some recommendations?
Mine has arrived and is prepped. Just charging now.
The 3D, screens, sound and UI responsiveness are all fantastic, but it's still a massive pain in the ass to hold for people with big hands.

Is the interior glossy too? Does it show fingerprints?
Nope. Only the exterior is glossy, inside is matte.

So Big W has the N3DS with Animal Crossing for $197 tomorrow.
Can't decide between that and the XL bundle.

I'm not sure I do want to upsize. And it's a very good deal, the Animal Crossing one. It's $50 more for XL, Charger, and Paper Mario, which is a pretty good deal if you want to upsize.
So as a previous XL owner, how is the smaller one again?Got my n3ds and alpha sapphire with the target price match so I saved 30 bucks altogether.
Not bad if I do say so myself. Though that essentially just brought things down to US prices.
Definitely smaller than my xl but my god I'm so glad that the screen doesn't look like utter shit now.
Was at Big W when the doors opened at 8.30am, couple of schoolkids were there for Pokemon ORAS.
Got the Black XL, absolutely gorgeous, and the system transfer from my old one went smoothly.
Only problem is you have to unscrew the back to get to the micro SD, so had to go to a hardware store to buy a mini screwdriver.
Another reason why the XL is inferior.
Doesn't come in pink.
You have great taste
