New Superman Returns Trailer

Well, I said Id hold off until this trailer to pass more judgment. And here it is. And it doesnt have my outlook improving. Everything just seems *off* to me. Anyways, opinions and assholes and all that.

That looked boring as all hell. Nothing jumped out at me as "bad" aside from some of the dialogue but nothing made me shift in my seat either. Then again, Batman Begins had some pretty boring trailers too, so we'll see.

Its funny, because as much as people have bitched about Routh, from this trailer, he seems to me to be the only one who was correctly cast.

I'm really, really not liking what I see of Spacey's performance. Looks like Singer is trying way too hard to be faithful to the Donner movies, even the parts that haven't aged well at all.

When Spacey says :"Billions" all I can think of is Spacey's Dr Evil rendition in Goldmember.

I won't watch this one cause it sounds way too corny.

Some of the cgi needs work, which I know they are still working on.

Its weird how Routh can look so much like Superman one min, like the shot on the roof of the daily planet with his arms crossed and then he looks like he's dying in a close up of his face.

I dont have the image, but right after Lex says "Billions" Routh looks skinner and hello! too much makeup.

Still overall I really dug the trailer and still cant wait for this :)

Oh and Spacey owns.

I'm off the bandwagon since we learned of the
Superboy
revelation this morning. That kills the movie for me, especially if it's true that
he beats up Lex's henchmen with a piano
.

Cocktail glass?

"C'mon, let me hear you say it..."
"You're insane -- "
"WROOOONNNGGG!!!!"
"Superman will save us -- "
"NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!"

"BRING IT!"

Spacey's doing his best Cruise impression, it seems. :lol :lol :lol BTW it looks pretty corny, but kick-ass none the less.
And fuck Superboy. I'm still seeing this, can't wait!

The trailer was alright......the only letdown to is is that there wasn't much excitement within it.......and what the hell with the emphasis on the railgun shooting at supes like it's the hardest thing he's had to face or something?!? looked stupid to me.
Other than that it was alright.
btw, to the guy seeing a cocktail glass, that is a wall!

...

what :(

Looks ho-hum. I still don't care much for the casting, but the production value seems solid. I just get the feeling this is going to be a forgettable throwaway summer movie, much like Singer's X-Men ones. That said, the trailer looks a lot better than everything I've seen in the past of it.

Give the X-Men films a little more credit than that, they were probably the best Summer popcorn filcks we're likely to see for some time... if Supes dissapoints.

"Superman Returns... !" I hate it when characters in a movie pronounce the name of the film, and especially when I see it in trailers. There was no "Batman Begins!" in, well... you know...

You so crazy. Just in the past 2 years alone, and just within the genre, we've already had better, in S-M2 and BB.

BB was late Spring, wasn't it? And personally, I found S-M2 enjoyable... but not up to the X-Men callibur. Sorry.

Spider-Man poops all over the X-Men franchise, especially since the latter is not really that faithful.

hahaha.. jaded GAF doesn't disappoint....... :lol

trailer looks good. was getting worried from the "letdown" thread. tone of the trailer continues to leave me very optimistic. I'll just file the other thread under the GAF "waaahhhh" file, right next to the Wii press release.

The first did, but S-M2 didn't do much for me. X-M series has two fine films under its belt, so it wins by default.

You kidding? The original X-Men is completely mediocre. And Spider-Man 2 is probably the most faithful comic book adaptation this side of Sin City.

S-M2 was 5x better than the first, and X-men 1 was god awful.

Hey, whatever floats your boat. S-M2 just took itself too seriously and was too melodramatic for me (a rabid S-M fan), while I thoroughly enjoyed both X-M films.

Sin City wipes the floor with all of 'em, though.

You truely ARE crazy. S-M2 takes itself seriously? Its the most lighthearted one in some time. The "Raindrops" scene would not appear in a film taking itself seriously.

SC was great but so overrated.

Opinion-Age: Once again, Willco and Solo are wrong.. Spiderman 1 is better than 2*.. and both are better than XMen 1 and 2. But they are ALL good flicks.

*The pacing in 1 is superior to 2 and even though you thought it couldn't be possible, 2 is even cheesier than 1.

But let's talk Superman.. this looks like it could be good. Might go well with popcorn.

Once again, Solo and I are right and you cement your place as some random poster.

No, across the board.

But let's talk Superman.. this looks like it could be good. Might go well with popcorn.

It could be good... if
Superman didn't turn into a Maury Povich special. Kal-El... you ARE the father!

can definitely live with that.

I find it funny that I've been collecting comics for almost 20 years. have every X-Men book (in floppy format) from right after the byrne run, all web of/spectacular titles, Amazing spidey back to 194 (and the rest in Masterworks), all superman titles to Crisis, etc etc etc.... and yet I seem to be the comic fan on this board who least cares about continuity, faithfulness, and all that other stupid bullshit. How many times has spidey essentially been rebooted? how many times has each character in the xmen been essentially rebooted? superman is technically on his like 5th reboot now?

it's why I can enjoy the x-men films, smallville, lois and clark, the DCU animated universe, spidey, punisher, and even the fantastic fucking four which I Can honestly say I liked... even hulk!

let me put it another way... aside from certain movies (catwoman, loeg, batman 3+4, among a few others), I can honestly say out of all the movies you guys are bickering about, there isn't a single one that I would rather have not seen made. give me a story with characters that moderately resemble the ones I love and give it a semi-interesting story, and you will probably have already 1-upped the majority of each of those properties' comics from the past 15 years. to break it down any further than that and you are essentially comic book guy.

I agree with you...
