New Twilight Princess Screens

What was the problem with Pikmin 2?
It had the SAME bland textures and stuff that TP has.

Hell, the snow ground textures and Hyrule field textures look the EXACT SAME.

Wrong.

The ground texture was better and on some areas had it had a shine to it.

Hey, fuck that, check out those 2D trees on the left center of the screen -- the real reason why Zelda was delayed!

If you look at screenshots before OoT released, it doesn't look as good. I remember at one point adult Link's swordholder looked a lot like a loaf of bread. I don't know why people think these problems are final when the game has more than six months before it comes out.

That town looks nice, but it seems very foggy. Hope they work on that. Seriously, just make it similar to how the market looked in OoT.

And you think I was happy with everyone looking the same in RE4?

You think I'm going to be happy when Dead Rising comes out and there's 1000 of the same 10 zombie models on screen?

Point is, more games than Zelda (and re4) are like this.

It's one thing to have enemies the same. I'm fine with that.
My problem is that you're supposed to be able to interact with unique NPCs and with the twin, triplet, quadruplet thing going on you aren't going to have that.

you must hate final fantasy and other rpgs

Maybe it's just me, but honestly, some of these pics are just... ugly. I don't get what anyone drools over on these graphics. I think sometimes Nintendo gets a free pass on things. People judge them a lot more leniently.

People were bitching TWW graphics "meh, it's too colorfull (childish) we want maturelda"

Now they get EXACTLY what they ask for and they "meh, this game is having no charm, bad art, blablabla.

You all just shut up already.
Meh, I was on the Celda bandwagon right from the get-go. Zelda NEEDS to be vibrant, whimsical, youthful, and imaginative. The more I see of this game, the more I KNOW I was right.

That said, I'm sure it will kick ass, play well, and be one of the finest games on the system, if not of this generation, so at the end of the day, it's all square.

people complain a lot on the graphics in this board is you look around...

No, because I haven't come to expect the same kind of NPC interaction in those titles as I have with Zelda.

IMO the npc's are looking like they should, they can't all look original and interesting (except for those important to the plot). I don't want a random npc on a town looking more interesting than link and I don't want all of them to have a subplot.

So you want boring NPCs that look and act alike? Okay :lol

yes, as long as they seem to be doing their everyday duties and not simply stand there.

that said, a small part of them should have some kind of plot around them and some interaction, but not all of them or half of them, more like 15%

Why would you want this when all of the NPCs in Wind Waker were unique? Not all of them had elaborate back stories, but they all looked and acted differently from one another. I want the world as believable as possible if you're given the choice to interact with NPCs.

Those are probably the two BEST looking Pikmin 2 shots out there, when I looked through the ign and PGC image stashes.

in WW most of them stayed in the same place and said the same thing though the whole game, and they all looked diferent because there was only 30 of them, maybe even less, and only one town

No, they didn't stay in the same place the whole game.
There were three towns with NPCs and more than 30 total, I do believe.

Didn't you hear? NOJ is creating this game for the western market. That means ugly art!
You realize it's called NCL (Nintendo Corporate Limited), not Nintendo of Japan, right? And that EAD, also known as Nintendo R&D 4, is making Zelda, right?

I've used those terms in the other Zelda threads. I just used NOJ, because I thought it suited my statement. Oh well. :(

hahahahahahaha, oh man. OH MAN.

I had a feeling about that. I didn't bother to really check it out for myself because I don't want to burn my eyes out with it (similar to looking straight at the sun, y'see), but it is AS I'VE FEARED. It's PC/Western RPG-itis: fill the screen up with a kajillion billion people in town, bring the framerate down to its knees, and have the townspeople all look alike and say the same fucking thing as the other guy. Nothing IMMERSES YOU INTO A WORLD better than "Hey Link, I've heard that Ganon is back and in black" "Hey Link, I've heard that Ganon is back and in black" "Hey Link, I've heard that Ganon is back and in black" "Hey Link, I've heard that Ganon is back and in black" said over and over again by clone brothers.

In Wind Waker (and to a lesser or equal extent, Majora's Mask), everybody around the game world had a name, a bit of a past, and personality quirks; even some monsters had all that. You can find all of that out by taking pictures of everything, which I did. B) Having everybody individualized like that was a nice touch, I think. Twilight Princess seems to be like... well... that sucking thing on Minish Cap B), sucking out everything that was good in Zelda and leaving nothing but a joyless husk.

"Limited" as in their time as a 1st party is limited LOLLAPALOOZAAMIRITE?

There are problems with these screens...but I'm more interested in their overall implications. It's clear that a well-populated town is in order, some nice wolf-roaming and that dungeon shot really does look fantastic.

The delay smarts, but these screens at least prove that there's a fair amount of work left to do...and to be honest I think they show they're on the right track, if only on the first lap.

i'm glad we can run around the regular world in wolf form, and without Midna...

Indeed... the wolfy stuff is the only reason I'm still interested in this game despite the abuse I've thrown at it. :D

did wolf-link have that thing on his left "hand"/paw when we saw him in the twilight realm? im guessing thats why he is in the normal world as a wolf.

Also I think some of you are WAY over reacting to that town screen shot, I am assumeing it is fogging because of the number of NPCs on screen.... or maby its just.... FOG, anyway Im sure it will be all rosy by the final realease.

The main positivle I can find in the delay : thank god if it means no triforce fetch quest-like errors because of a rushed release.

He's always had that shackle on his wrist. He was chained up and Midna broke him out. That shackle remained however.

Why do so many people love the super saturated colors of Japanese RPGS and think they should always apply to every game? I'm very pleased to see that Zelda has more of a earthy and somewhat realistic palette.

Olimario: Have you played Twilight Princess?

Yes? No?

Because quite honestly you're spouting shit about a game that doesn't deserve to be shit on. The demos at E3 were superb and just as fun, if not more so, than the Windwaker, which I loved by the way. You say none of the characters shown have any charm or backstory or any relevance to the story, but how do you know these things? At E3 in the village there were all sorts of characters, each with a very unique look, and ones that were very important to the story even at that early stage in development. Right away I became attached to the little boy (Colin I believe?) and he gets kidnapped and must be rescued. The characters are just as charming, if not more so, in Twilight Princess. It seems to me that you really like to prejudge things before giving them a chance. Sure, TP has a very different graphic style from WW, but it certainly looks more epic and exciting, IMO.

First it's the lack of grass (of which there were quite a few areas to hack down grass at E3) and now the characters aren't interesting? Seriously, chill.

Thank you, I was about to post the same thing, but not as well said.

For all it's eye-searing colours, I found WW to be incredibly bland, especially the NPCs. And a collection of overdone quirks does not a personality make.

1) You should read what I say more carefully, Craig. I said that if there is a town with the quadruplets thing like that one screen seems to indicate then it isn't likely that that town in Twilight Princess will feature very rich NPC interaction. It seems like common sense, but then again, what do I know?

2) I'm aware that there is grass now, but only after raising a fuss and having people who played it calm my fears did I find out. Nobody did a very good job of covering the game media wise at E3. Most site's just put up the roundtable footage. The best I saw were digicam pics from a foreign site that showed off a nice grassy patch in the Forest Dungeon.

Olimario's a bitch and an attention whore. I will say wow.

Let's have a look at some saturated OoT screenshots, shall we?

Look. Even when saturated, its colors are bland. Also, the textures are fuzzy and its art is no better than TP's.

And yet, this game is considered the best videogame of all time by an enormous amount of people, me included.

Now, if TP manages to come close to the grandeur of OoT, I will say wow. And I'm sure it will. At the very least, its graphics are way better.
