Update AGESA ComboV2 1.0.8.1 for New Gen AMD Ryzen processors support

First beta bios, turnaround time about 1 to 1.5 months, October launch is almost certain

16 cores 4950x + 24gb 3090 + 32gb ddr4 4200mhz.

New CPU has a 20% uplift from today's zen2, meaning Intel is fucked. :messenger_savoring:

Glad i waited. My wallet is ready

Was everyone holding out on performance, just to defecate on the new consoles launch? I feel Nvidia and AMD been holding out, just for this moment, while they could have offered this in their current line up. All while Intel is going full on retard for the last few years, cpu and gpu wise (shouldn't even include it in gpu arena)

Sorry, zen3 will be the nail to intel gaming. Until intel starts paying moola to tsmc.

Intel had to announce stocks buybacks to prevent their stock prices from tanking more :messenger_sad_relieved:

Intel will eventually return to competitiveness. The interesting question is exactly how much market share (in each product category - OEM, hobbyist self-build, workstation HEDT, datacenter) AMD can gain before Intel returns to form. From my understanding, AMD doesn't currently have the scale to take some of the much larger enterprise customers from Intel but if they keep growing that'll change. A lot of those customers may decide they don't want to go back to Intel even if they come out with quality products again.

While true, IT has too much legacy chains and Intel is so rich :messenger_anxious:

Amd seems to do ok holding on to upticks after upticks. Even i was surprised how zen2 laptops hit the park running.

Amd stocks should hit above 100 after zen3 launch, Intel has nothing to combat it

Yes wait for a month more :messenger_bicep:
I'm actually surprised my current build is doing so well.

Ryzen 5 1600 OC@3.9Ghz
corsair vengeance ddr4 3000mhz OC @ 3200mhz
Sapphire RX580 8GB moderate OC
Gigabyte AX370
Samsung EVO 970 and 860

Built over 2 years ago and its been holding up pretty well to everything I have thrown at it. Currently playing EFT and at moderate settings she holds 60fps most of the time. More suprised at the perforance per dollar you can get these days. I built this thing for under 800 bucks at the time. The fact that its still holding its own is impressive to me.

I have $3000 saved for my next build. Been saving for a while and I plan to go all out.

Yeah I'm quickly trying to increase my AMD position before it blasts off into space. Sure it won't be Tesla levels of stock price increase but still a nice jump.

Just in time! I decided to give my son a computer built last year. I told him he could have it at the release of Ryzen 3. It has a Ryzen 7 3700X , 32 gigs 3600 DDR Ram, and 5700 XT. He'll be a happy camper. Now on my future Ryzen 3 build I just need to decide between 16 GB Big Navi or 20 GB version of 3080. It's going to all come down between price/performance ratio for me.

unless you want your son to wait until April next year, I suggest going for 16GB RDNA2 card.

AMD needs to screw Nvidia before Intel steps up the game. If it wants a good long term future.

Either way, I will support it where I can. Even with a graphics card purchase if it aligns.

:lollipop_anxious_sweat: your son is lucky.
Though try not to over spoil those pesky children beings.

I probably be out at 100 mark.
Zen4 seems ok with DDR5 but Intel will swing back next year.
Unless AMD rDNa2 lineup is competitive, i don't think I want to hodl amd stocks after this year

Call me when games will start using effectively more than 4 cores/threads... Right now there's almost zero difference between R3 and R9, all those 24-32 threads are basically sitting at idle, unless the upcoming consoles change the landscape, there will still be zero sense in getting a 1x-core CPUs as far as gaming goes.

But how will the Zen 3 compare to the raw power of the PS5's SSD? I'll wait for the real-world benchmarks.

Did I console war right? I'm new at this.

Anyway, I really want to build a new PC, but this has to drop first, darn it!

how long do I have to wait for this combo?
I fear 3090 will not be foind when ready

You just gotta buy 3090 on 17 sep first :messenger_bicep:

4950x probably be much later than 4900x, if amd need to bin the dies like 3950x. Unless tsmc 7nm is mature enough for amd without needing extra time.

Have faith 4900x will be available in Oct.

I heard some crazy rumours about Zen 3/Ryzen 4000, needless to say yes, it will complete the destruction of Intel in the desktop CPU space. It is not just an iteration more like a Zen re-design in all areas.

Something like this vs Intel's upcoming release:

- Significantly better multi-thread performance (even with them concentrating on single core perf this release)
- Faster gaming performance
- Significantly better efficiency
- Better platform features
- More cores as per usual

This is great news because I had my doubts the new chips would launch this year.

Needs to be something huge to make me swap out my 3900x though. Still, it's a nice feeling to know that's even an option coming from be stuck with 5+ years of Intel's ridiculous new cpu new socket model.

I am not a PC guy this will be my first real PC and I am not going to build one myself. I'll be looking at Origin PC or some other outfit that builds them for noobs like me with a 3090 when they offer it. I doubt I'll know how to swap out the CPU when the 4950x is out :( gonna be stuck with an intel if that is the case

how hard is it to swap out CPUs?

In that case, may as well wait for origin pc to have the complete build.

System integrator like origin are more likely to get ready stocks faster than diy pcmr builders.

I believe they will pay a bit more to get ahead in the supply chain, and so their customers (you) have to pay a bit more too

For the sake of us consumers, I hope this isn't completely the case. If it is, I hope Intel can bounce back by time they're on 7nm. But it is amazing to see how the switch flipped quick. I also believe 4000 series gonna cook Intel.

well if you think they might still have both by Oct to November I'll try and wait until they have both
I have been saving a while this year wanted the best box I can get that combo sounds good as long as they have both I'll pay the cost

thanks for the feedback this was helpful

SOTTR is one of the few games that uses more than 8 threads right now

I'll definitely be upgrading to Zen 3. I'm still rocking my R7 1700, so it could really use an upgrade. But since I have an X470 motherboard, I will probably have to wait a while before it will be compatible with Zen 3.
