we are referring to Alex's meltdown over at era after people quoted him saying Ps5 ssd wont make a big difference. those are his words we are quoting. he went apeshit on the mods and basically forced the mods to ban half a dozen people.

this was posted here last month. i figured people here would remember.
If he looks like a bitch and talks like a bitch....

The face will some people make when they see the ps5 with RDNA 3 features...

O am not that bothered either way, although seeing fanboy meltdowns like colbert and timdog is worth it just for the luls, they just cant give and take / praise the other side, its all mines the best and you must fail.

It does seem madness that they let the competition essentially get free word of mouth and create FUD (fear, uncertainty, and doubt in this case) around PS5 having similar features.
Xbox is essentially cresting easy to market names for techniques they both have and in some cases (SSD wise) PS5's solution may even be better.

I do not want Sony engineers to lose focus and worry more about marketing than tech, but their marketing needs to wake up a bit more and be more transparent with people (I like to know what happens in software updates thank you :)) and get people excited. They created a name for their audio solution, Tempest, but not for their I/O crown jewel?! Why?

Just posting it for fun, idc if the ps5 has RDNA 3 features or not, all I know it's going to be an amazing hardware 😁

I am not the greatest in technical terms but I tried to give this Rdna 3 some logical thought.

Besides the fact people have pointed to other older tech having fragments of new architecture in their design, is this rdna architecture like say the unreal engine or unity engine.

What i mean is they keep adding procedures or techniques to it, advancing it's capabilities all the time.
I would imagine its some like a bolt on, 6 months down the line slot on this new feature.

If i think about it like that, it sounds very logical that their could be Rdna3 features in the ps5.

But maybe i am just getting confused and my example is a poor one. like i said i am not very technical.

Wait, people are believing this RDNA3 thing?

This is from DeepEnigma a couple of pages back
.
Why are they pretending like custom features from the next architecture revision have never existed?

The original Xbox was based off next gen graphics tech of programmable shaders that found its way into the PC later with GF3, and the PS4 has done it with borrowing next GCN revisions of Polaris features of Async increasing to 64 sources for the compute commands, then borrowing FP16 from Vega while still on Polaris with the Pro.

DF (pre Dictator) even mentions themselves about the Pro having Vega features before Vega cards even hit the market.

He even states more examples, your more than welcome to go back and check them yourself.

If some of that is true why is it so hard to fathom that it could possibly be true?

I am not trying to have an argument with you, i am just trying to understand why you dismiss it, if it has happened in the past surely their is credence to it's possibility?

Just to chip in briefly regarding the RDNA3 thing...

The way I understood it was that if the bespoke features of the PS5 APU made it to AMD's RDNA3 cards, then they'll (Cerny and co.) have done a good job on them.
So while we don't know the features of RDNA3, if it is released with features seen in the PS5 APU, then it would just be that those features work and work well.

It's not so much the PS5 having RDNA3 features, it's that there's a good chance that RDNA3 will have features pioneered by PS5.

Hehe saying all that amounts to....

PS5 feature = RDNA3 feature
RDNA3 feature = PS5 feature

The order bares no consequence

Which is also probably a win-win deal for both sides: Sony gets new tech earlier than competition (at least till a mid-gen refresh) and AMD can sell it to PC GPU manufacturers so their ROI increases.

RDNA2 isnt out yet and RDNA3 features would have been a big thing to boast during the reveal, considering the power gap. Just after glancing over the 10TF, he should have went directly into RDNA 3 feature set, but he didn't. Instead he went into the Geometry Engine, Tempest Audio, and SSD. Why would Cerny just not mention RDNA3 features? Rediculous.

Cos its a PS5 developed technology. Not AMD.
Rumors of Sony helping AMD build navi seems very real now.

It's quite simple, RDNA3 is a future product belonging to AMD to reveal and market, not Cerney. He mentioned custom features within the PS5 and specifically stated they may end up in future AMD products, as it's a co-development. That's as good as you'll get.

Also no need to be petty about this sort of thing, this applies to XsX customisation just as much incase that's anybodies motivator to deny basic common sense.

So what? Sony can't reveal RDNA3 features until next year when RDNA3 cards are revealed? C'mon now, this is getting out of control.

Not many console games play on MONITORS.
How small is your 4K monitor?
I'm playing on a 65 inch LG OLED and the difference is HUGE.

But you're not me though. My requirements are different than yours. And yes my monitor is alot smaller than 60inchs. Heck it's smaller than 30inchs.

I seriously hope AMD will make enough money out of the new consoles and got a shit load of new technologies. Their CPU are currently the best on the market, but GPU wise NVidia is running circles around AMD. Their current Navi card is only as good as a RTX2070, has less features and even being on a better node 7nm instead of 12nm it still uses more energy. Therefore I hope big Navi (RDNA2) will get some serious improvements especially while it will be launching around the same time as NVidias Ampère. For instance big navi can´t be on par with its ray tracing performance than the RTX20... series cards. It has to be better.

Dumbest shit I've ever heard. Enjoy you delusions people.
U do realise in 2016 ps4 pro had vega 2017 features and cerny never said these are vega features (like fp16) he just said these are customs features that might end up later on in amd pc cards .

Its not like it has not happened . Sony is not allowed to talk about rdna3 name when amd wants to sell rdna 2 in few months

Even then, just upping the ram indefinitely is not a smart solution compared to levelling the entire memory subsystem as next gen is doing. More ram equates to even longer load times and you would never see quality of life features in game suspend/resume, etc.

Next gen is looking magnificent I must say. And Sony at least on paper thus far is absolutely smashing it out of the park.

Hand cream intact, where'd that tissue box go....
RAM size had to be substantially upgraded from gen to gen because assets sizes were growing much faster than storage speed, so more and more data were needed in memory to cope with that, even if they were never used. Now we are watching a disruptive evolution, more like a revolution to the way games will be made from now on, essentially a return to the ROM times but with much bigger sizes.

Who used FP16 again? What benefit did that provide?

One of the things I believe that stoped the RAM evolution is, just how much better the assets have to be in this generation? Uncharted 4 plays like a CG movie? How much improvement room there is from there for people to notice (and with people I mean the average Joe, not the gaffers who claim that they can see the difference between 2159p and 4K).

I finished Indiana Jones and the Fate of the Atlantis swapping between 11 floppies. Kids are so spoiled nowadays ;).

I remember when I bought Flight of the Amazon Queen, one of the final games Amiga games I got before I caved to the FF7 adverts on TV, and was told by the staff working in the shop that an HDD was required for it. Lucky for me, I'd recently bought a 2.5" HDD (120MB...!), so no disc swapping for me.

It comes down to efficiency again. In PS4 it used something like 2GB of its 5GB RAM available at any one time for the next ~30 seconds of gameplay with the rest being idle. In PS5 most of the available RAM can be used at any one time for every ~1 second of gameplay. Effectively it is like 6x PS4 RAM (~2GB versus 12/13GB).

RPM is a standard AMD feature isn't it, and is in both next-gen consoles? I'm sure it is there for good reason(s)

Nice fabricated rumor, however the ps5 GPU sounds like missing VRS, parallel Ray tracing in the CU, direct 100gb or more SSD access from GPU(has to go to main memory first), ML language programmability with also 4bit, 8 bit , etc.. for ML that if anything ps5 RNDA2 sounds more "alpha", lower version than the X like ps5 is RDNA2.0 alpha or something whereas the XSX sounds like RDNA2.3+ which also fits AMDs naming scheme like it had for GCN 1.1., 1.2 etc .. If anything the revision or version of RDNA2.* sounds more advanced on the X.
