So what is the story about XBox BC? CNET said games weren't "playable" but they were but had some issues or something?

So this 550 MB ssd is loading RDR2 faster than Xbox's 2,400 GBps ssd.

36 seconds vs 38 seconds.

something isnt right here. are we sure there is a 2.4 gbps ssd in there?
Well. This should be just a minor issue with measuring/whatever was on the system at this time. With times so close you can see, that the IO is no longer the problem. Those are just BC-Games so CPU has stuff to to like decrompess packages etc because the Hardware can only be used if the software was written for it. At a specific point, loading times for BC games cannot get any better without improving CPU & RAM speeds, we already know this from the PC. At this point, it can only get faster through patches from the developers of the games.
I really wish there were realtive cheap big SSDs on the maket, just to use them for BC games. But even 2TB (I have a 8TB HDD) is not cheap enough to replace my HDD.

Well load times aside the Quick Resume feature seems to work damn well and that is also a sweet change from current gen, being able to just jump right back in to the game you were playing, and exactly where you left is 👌🙌

But how much faster? Obviously the PS5 will be faster, it has a faster SSD... But since you are saying that this is laughable and the PS5 will be much much faster, let's put a number on it. On average, how much faster will it load BC games compared to Xbox.

Well, I won't compare it directly to XSX. Different filesystems, etc. However, if running off the internal SSD, I imagine that the PS5 will load games in about an average of half the time. So a game that loads in 1 min, will load in 30 seconds give or take.

this is why every game on the ps4 and x1x shouldve had dynamic resolution and uncapped framerates.

the ps5 and xsx can easily do 1080p 120 fps for these games without the need for patches.

why do you want 120 fps so badly, don't you need a special monitor to take advantage of that refresh rate?

I get not wanting 30 fps for games like shooters/fighters or from software games but 120 fps will make to many sacrifices surely?

we see a lot of people using xbox series x and none from sony. The question is: Why sony didn't provide the PS5 to the media? what are they afraid of?
if i had to guess, the OS isnt ready. MS hasnt really made a new OS from scratch like Sony is doing so that might be why they are ready.

Didn't Travis Scott get one? I guess other people have one too, NDA just hasn't lifted yet.

Didn't the OS for the PS4 only get finalized a few weeks before launch? We've seen plenty of trailers but with no UI...I wonder if perhaps the OS and interface is still being worked on and stablized? Then again, could just be a marketing thing and MS getting out in front of it. Who knows! :)

Any tests of load times of XSX versus X1X with a 1TB SSD installed? I'm curious to know if there's any difference. I assume load times would be pretty much the same. Load times are comparable to what I get on my PC, including system boot. Win10 might be a bit quicker to the login page on a 970, but it's still loading apps after login.

UPDATED:

Just for fun guys, use your use, trust your eyes. I'll use 2 screenshots, one is claimed by DF to be native 4K (Halo Infinite), and another claimed to be 1440p with no evidence but BS (Demon's Souls), and will chop the screenshot:

Demon's Souls:

Halo Infinite:

Why DS is having more pixels, smaller? It's either DS is 8K or Halo is 1440p but DF were too tired to acknowledge!

can you please open a thread for this? Good knowledge. Thanks!

RDR 2 says hi, Benji!. So, about Velocity architecture and instant 100 GB access. And RDR 2 is around 110 GB on Xbone, right?

God damn there product managers are shambles. I am in a 12 man whatsapp group of casuals. Real casuals. None of them are talking about frames. All they said is they got new 4k tvs & will get FIFA,NBA,COD & a PS5. Not one convo about frames,SSD, Velocity trash, TFlops. This all online fanboy stuff. That casuals don't care. No research will defeat great looking games.
The sad reality that a significant number of our peers are football chavs and fps knobs. LOL!

There is. It's just that the console has a massive bottleneck somewhere. May not affect all games, but it does seem to affect quite a few. The fastest loaded what, 1GB/s? maybe 1.5? And that was Outer Worlds.

ok. i thought i read somewhere the usable space on a 1 tb ssd was around 960 GB. 920 gb is even worse. this means the digital only xbox series s will only have 350 gb of ssd space for games.

this is going to be even worse for ps5 owners because there is only 760 gb of ssd space. if the ps5 is roughly around 100 gb, we are looking at only 650 gb of usable space.
931GB of usable space on a 1TB 970 Evo+ (NVME) without overprovisioning.
1.86TB of usable space on a 2TB 860 Evo (SATA) without overprovisioning.
