The expansion card has 920 GB of space, so it's 'only' 108 GB for OS, I think.
ok. i thought i read somewhere the usable space on a 1 tb ssd was around 960 GB. 920 gb is even worse. this means the digital only xbox series s will only have 350 gb of ssd space for games.

this is going to be even worse for ps5 owners because there is only 760 gb of ssd space. if the ps5 is roughly around 100 gb, we are looking at only 650 gb of usable space.

Yeah, that's what it seems like. You're getting the benefit of the SSD read, but it's still bottlenecked by the CPU having to do the decompression. Until a game is built for next-gen hardware, you won't see the real benefits yet.

But is there such a game exist on xsx at the moment ? /jk

Without trying to diminish the results from the XSX, because I do think most of those games aren't using features of the Velocity Architecture, these results are quite disappointing ...

They remember me something that Cerny said...

You put an SSD which is 10x faster than your current HDD, but you only get 2X the speed it was previously at...

I think it's a matter of gigabytes vs. gibibytes. But yeah, space could become an issue, especially on the XSS. Going to be a lot of moving back and forth to external USB storage, I think.

For real though, the Xbox loading times are impressive. Really excited to see how it will be on the PS5.

So I'm liking the speed of the UI and getting things done. Speed bumps, loading and running b/c software a lot nicer is really good too (as is the coverage of games). Both new machines are going to improve the frippery around playing of games greatly.

Did anyone go into details of control over quick resume? Can you turn off to save disc usage or just restrict it to b/c titles where is seems most beneficial? Also is the 802GB free taking in to account quick resume reservation or not?

Those are games coded to the SSD.

Lmfao , it's more than the SSD , of course , they're coded for SSD , the p5 architecture is so fast , it needs it .. it's shipping and loading assets at amazing pace, that's why you'll see amazing games , the memory will feed like live... Remember the late 80s, early nineties , using cd ROM tech , and some stunning games come about.

I never said it was just the SSD. Coded to the SSD would mean using all the features of the SSD like decompression blocks.

it will be funny when ps4 BC solution will work more often (but with less enhancements)...
the bc messaging can backfire so hard for multiple reasons....
Probably MS just being really cautious. But can you imagine the headlines if this was the PS5.... "Only 300 titles currently available via backwards compatibility".

DmC - No ray tracing
Medium (looks like shit) - 30 FPS
Halo - No ray tracing/fake 4k
Series X - development issues

Nothing running on the true hardware

What a Disaster

But,but they said Multiplats will look best on XSX. I mean it has to patch RT in an unannounced time frame. But Multiplats will look better. One has RT at launch the other needs patching. But multiplats will look better lmao.
Watching this unfold is hilarious & great banta.

PC fallen race. Brought to its knees. By 1.8TF. Box. Now the SSD about to break their backs.

I am assuming this is without optimisation or using the velocity architecture. still pretty impressive.

PS5 should 2.2x faster so control should load under 5 seconds.

if only sony had unveiled the PS5 OS and other features, we would know if their instant loading also applies to BC games.

These new loading times benchmarks of the XSX are disappointing me, what a failure by Microsoft!

I know they don't take advantage of the SSD and its architecture in full, they're just using the games through BC, I know all that, but so far, seeing how PS5 is handling load times, it just seems like it is a next-gen leap over Xbox Series X:

- Demon Souls with its level warping stuff.
- Ratchet & Clank with its dimensions thing.
- Spider Man Miles Morales & the Remastered one said to have no loading times.
- Kena taking less than 2 seconds to cold boot on PS5.

It's looking like PS5 will DESTROY Xbox Series X when it comes to SSD speeds and that soon will translate to better animation, bigger worlds due to that faster throughput.

did I say you did?
Let's not get into nitty gritty , I don't wanna go study computer science and computer engineering, for ten years.
I'd need too, to get into nitty gritty,.

let's just leave it....

21 seconds cold boot...? Isn't current gen faster?
Edit: I am wrong, it's apparently 25 seconds on Pro.

Alright guys I'll admit the Seriex loading times puzzle me.
I thought like whatthefuckever they all have SSDs. PS5 gon load in 2 secs and Seriex in 4 secs, equally good imho because I'm used to 90 secs lmao.
But those improvements are like what? Not impressive at all. Some of them are cool but others? Weird
FFXV very impressive upgrade. Evil Within 2 barely an upgrade at all.
Step it up.
Sony better deliver twice the improvement or even three times. They better.

Do we know if a PS4 game installed of the PS5 SSD will load significantly faster? I hope so but I have my doubts.

I'm honestly confused about why so many here are confused about these BC Xbox One games loading times?

I mean a PC is much worse than this when putting in a 5-7GB/s NVMe in it! Maybe get 1-3 second better loading than a 550MB/s SATA SSD.

XBOX SERIES X LOAD TIMES
GameXbox Series XXbox One X
CoD: Warzone16 seconds21 seconds
Red Dead Redemption 252 seconds1 min, 35 seconds
The Outer Worlds6 seconds27 seconds
Evil Within 233 seconds43 seconds
Sea of Thieves20 seconds1 min, 21 seconds
Warframe25 seconds1 min, 31 seconds
AC: Odyssey30 seconds1 min, 7 seconds
No Man's Sky1 min, 27 seconds2 mins, 13 seconds
Destiny 243 seconds1 min, 52 seconds

Wait...

Its 38s or 52s for RedDead?

Someone is lying... But who?

Really exciting seeing the Series X UI and boot up, however I am with sircaw sircaw when it comes to load times. they're definitely impressive but I was expecting much better results, ranging from 5-15 seconds rather than 30-60 seconds. But then again I guess it could be down to optimisation, Witcher 3 should be getting a next-gen patch on launch for the next-gen consoles, curious to see the results.

A beautiful lady walks up to you in a bar for a chat, do you:

A) Enjoy her company
B) Pull out a tape measure and check that she meets an arbitrary measurement that you perceive to be important

?

😆

Depends on which measurement is the really important one. :) But I enjoy the company either way....sometimes it's just good to know where the limits are.

It is a drastic decrease compared with Xbox One cold boot.

PS4 was always like you can play Killzone from cold boot to gameplay in 12-15s.

Either i have set my expectations way higher than i should or i have bought into the power of these next gen consoles a little bit to much.

I am really unhappy about those load times and it really makes me worry about ps5 ones.

We see what happens in the future but after today i am bummed out.
