Such a huge library of games and Sony doesn't care. PS2 games should easily run at native 4k and 120fps on PS5. Sony can easily make a team to run some of the important PS3 titles backward compatible on PS5 boost mode; Games like RDR, GTAIV, MGS4, Shadow of the Damned and many more games which were never ported to PC/PS4.
And they already have the vehicle to do this, if they decide to go after it seriously. PS Now. That will likely be their answer to GamePass if they have to start competing in the same way.

Turned out the people trashing the girl in the video for misinformation should apologies.
She was right and they had about 500 BC games available.

So her video was indeed what she experienced with Xbox Series X.
I was referring to the PS5 BC misinformation in that video. "Just a few PS4 titles" is BS.

You wont get MS or Sony going too gangbusters on oldies because if gamers pay $20 here or there for them (or even better you can play an old disc you got lying around), it head butts vs. the modern age of microtrans which probably 90% of games have in some fashion.

Open up PS2 games for all and you're going to get some gamers with a stack of classics he likes playing and he'll hardly budge spending money on PS5 content.

Xbox Series S Internal SSD usable space

Xbox Series X - 1000 GB = 931 GiB
Xbox Series S - 512 GB = 476 GiB

XSX usable space - 802 GB = 747 GiB
931 GiB - 747 GiB = 184 GiB for OS for X.

Estimate OS size for S, range from 100% to 50% of OS size for X.

184 GiB x 1.00 = 184 GiB
184 GiB x 0.75 = 138 GiB
184 GiB x 0.50 = 92 GiB

476 GiB - 184 GiB = 292 GiB
476 GiB - 138 GiB = 338 GiB
476 GiB - 92 GiB = 384 GiB

292 GiB = 313 GB
338 GiB = 363 GB
384 GiB = 412 GB

Xbox Series S usable space range estimate = 313-412 GB
Xbox Series S usable space best estimate = 363 GB (if OS is 75% of OS on X)

Its kinda boring, I have no interest in playing 5-10 year old games AGAIN and being excited.

Show us something new FFS.

I just dont get it.

If an Xbox One game needs to load less than 10 GB into RAM to start playing... and the Xbox SSD is 2.4 GB/s raw..

That should mean the system can load any Xbox One game in less than 5 seconds.

Even if it uses the entire 9 GB of RAM the One X had multiple times from full to empty thats still only like 10 seconds.

Games should be loading faster than the videos I've seen.

But its obviously much faster than a 5400 rpm hdd.

Me: Guys, do you think our PS4 saves will work perfectly on BC games on the PS5?
GAF: Of course they will! What are you, an idiot?
Me: Eh ... I don't knooooow ....

Well, if you take a look at your question, you have the answer. What was being talked about with Yakuza was NOT a BC game, it was a "PS5 version." So yes, PS5 games will have their own saves. You can use your PS4 game saves if you run the PS4 game in BC mode.

I do hope however that some devs give us a converter or something. No reason they can't. Imagine a game like the Witcher 3. We REALLY have to play the whole thing starting from scratch? We'll see. I'm sure if devs get enough pushback from customers, they will find a solution.

Theres more to loading than simply moving things into RAM.

There is an error in your calculation.
802 GiB is availabe for games. The OS shows the correct number (1024 based).
So the OS reserves around 118 GiB.

And BTW, if they don't cut features for the S, it should also be 118GiB on the S.

In light of Microsoft acquiring Zenimax has "insider" mentioned if sony has anything going on behind the scenes? Even their reaction to the news? I know we havent received a statement or comment from sony about it but it seems like something you would want address, even in passing.

When the system launches, we should get a thorough analysis and then a similar updated chart comparing the various loading times across same titles between Xbox One with HDD/SSD and Xbox One X with HDD/SSD compared with that on XBox Series X with external HDD and internal SSD would be quite helpful in understanding the advantages and power of next gen. Same for PS4/PS4Pro comparison with PS5.

Fish, I had enough of your "stray cat" jokes. Find yourself a nice fish tank, and don't come out for air for a long, long time.

you got nine lives in that game fleebag, i am going to use every single one of them, see a car, guess where i am running. See an electrical inlet, that's right the paw is going in it. Swimming pool, its the springboard and the deep end for it.

Fleabags like you and, AeneaGames AeneaGames are going down, mind you I will probably need one of those tesla cannons from red alrert to nuke that garfields fat arse.

I'm actually surprised by this. Doesn't mean it will be the norm though. It's a game with an upgrade at launch. Current PS4 games that are not released as crossgen from the getgo should work.

Sounds like it's to avoid people buying the "cheaper" PS4 version later on...
Technically there is no reason for this.

My ps4 pro boots up in 25 seconds with a Sata SSD. What a joke.

Apart from the SSD and its backwards compatibility which is essentially one big advertisement for “gamepass” that not everyone has access to unless they pay for the service. What else does the S X have going for them? I’m genuinely curious. Never seen a new console launch without an exclusive launch game yet people just sweep that fact under the rug.

Nah look it says 802 GB. The OS shows decimal, so the 802 GB is misleading. Its not 118 GiB. Its more. 931-747=184 GiB.

The Xbox SSD is advertised as 1 TB but so is the 1 TB Seagate Expansion Card.

But the card only has 920 GB usable. So its most likely a 960 GB card (894 GiB) and then has some partitioned off for write endurance, formatting, OS, etc. Or maybe its 931 GiB (1000 GB) and has even more reserved. Maybe the Expansion Card needs 75 GiB reserved, idk.

The OS for the S will need a bit less space, 75% - 80%. It won't record 4K footage or need as much room reserved for Quick Resume. So it should have less than the 200 GB reserved.

Better quality 3rd party games, and Game Pass on its own is as good as an exclusive launch game

Grow up
You better behave or we ask Mods to ban you 🤣
It's 2020, we don't want games. We only want to play features, subscriptions and NES classics in glorious 4K 😉😉😉😉

So according to Game Informer, Kena Bridge of Spirits is a PS4/PS5 cross-gen game that can cold boot in 2 seconds from the PS5 home screen.

Assuming the devs had to optimize for that, what does that tell us about load times for PS4 games on PS5?

I think this is why Sony won't show the UI until its ready.

I imagine their software OS engineers spend all their time trying to make the PS5 OS as fast as possible.

The first impressions will be very important.

Ok that's one snappy ass boot

Im note sure If this is guys is telling the truth.

It doesnt seem like he really turned the console off. The other vídeos we saw, It taks way more time, and one tweet confirma 20s total.

I wouldnt doubt he put on rest mode and then turn It on again, thats why It was that fast.

Sony strategy is simple, let Microsoft show their stuff then we show ours.

Japanese Youtubers will give us a hands-on this week.
