Thats all were getting today? A 3D audio blog post?

At this point we will take anything new.

I've been thinking twin fans for months and this huge 8K image from 4gamers points to this being the case. Both sides between the central black section are identical (click pic to enlarge):

I can't see any evidence of a double fan. Where should I look?

I would be delighted if it were so.

Kind of surprised neither Sony or Microsoft made a game around ray tracing to help sell it as a must for next gen. Would've loved to see a ratchet and clank style probably smaller in scope
Just make a game based around the "Mirror maze" scene from Bruce Lee's "Enter The Dragon".

The Citizen Kane of Next Gen Raytracing Demonstrations (TM)

Instead of twin fans maybe it's just one really thicc fan?

My speculation is that it could be a sandwich in this way but smaller and is located on both sides of the Motherboard.

With the liquid metal solution that we have seen in the patents, it would be necessary to avoid that the heatsink needed a lot of surface.

Off topic. WTF Jez is British, always thought he's American by his Xbox fanboy tweets! Hard to exactly identify where his accent from but could swear I hear Brummie or a bit of Black Country yam yam in his voice, sounds he's trying to cover it cos it aint something to be proud of (I should know :messenger_grinning_squinting: ) what you think @Dan_of_Rivia ?
Sounds like a Cov/Warwickshire accent to me.
He ay no Yamyam, mucker.

No direct evidence but we have this leak that possibly shows a PS5 metal fan guard and then the 4gamer image shows metal on both sides where there is otherwise plastic. So symmetrical metal on both sides for something.

Amazing how Sony have kept this under wraps and hope when the teardowns come it doesn't turn out to be a bog standard setup....

Wait, what about regular headphones plugged into an amplifier?

It's normal stereo sound at the end, so I don't see a reason why it couldn't be transfered through HDMI. Source is PS Blog that mentionts only USB and mini jack and doesn't say anything about HDMI, but I think it's just because HDMI headphones don't exist, so they omitted that option despite being available. That's what I hope at least, it needs clarification from Sony.

I also want an elegant solution. I like those things.

I don't think a standard setup will lead them to having a quiet system. The PS4 Pro was pretty standard and that system made quite a bit of noise for many people. Something like they in the PS5 would do the same or worse.

But then again Cerny talked about how the cooling was centered over having a fixed power budget so maybe it will be fine.

If you zoom in on both sides of the inner vents you can see each side has guards over a fan.

This is a 2 fan solution

I hope it is something different and good. Don't talk to me about the PS4 Pro noise...Both mine were obnoxiously loud and frankly, while quieter, I think my PS4 slim is still louder than it should be but then Sony insisted on it being so small and 40mm thick. I would much rather something be big enough to ensure near silent operation like every other item on my entertainment unit.

It is hard to say what exactly it shows but I snipped this from the 8K pic to show the specific area for others to check out:

If it really is duel fans, I hoping there is some kind of alert to tell you one stopped working.
My laptop have duel fans and I can monitor them.
Not the monitoring part in the PS5, but a way to know so I can get it fixed in the early.

I think if a fan failed or otherwise stopped working the console would just shut down. Right now this is all guess work. The cooling solution could be something else entirely!

Oh so if it's a big corporation they can't make mistakes. Good. Cause I totally thought the cell processor, RROD, Virtual Boy, Sega Saturn surprise release, and that book thing on ps3 existed.

There are different levels of mistakes. Creating a product that won't sell, or even a product with poor longevity (the 360) would be quite different then sending broken units directly for individuals to report on. The 360 had review units too, but those systems survived their review period. LOL MS sent these out by choice, if they had units that overheated after 2 hours, they never would have sent them out at all. They would have some kind of controlled access instead, bring the influencers out one at a time and control the amount of time that they play. Basic logic.

yoboman was right. the ps4 footage vs ps5 is fake. the ps4 never looked that "dull", hence my screenies. BESIDES!!! we suppose to get this quality of next gen

Yeah those are a virtual betting sites videos and yeah many people touted them as NBA2K next gen but were clearly blind to not notice the virtual basketball branding along the baselines

Please send your thoughts and prayers to this young man my dudes, His suffering is our suffering.

The really sad thing is that this person might actually be serious. Go figure. Either way...just more proof that Twitter is toxic beyond belief. I saw a t-shirt that I really liked the other day. In the style of the "Biden 2020" or "Trump 2020" logos it simply read "Asteroid 2020." I'm good with that. We've earned it! ;)

It will go on until PS5 teardown is here. At least that's what I recall Mod of War Mod of War saying.

Yep, they mentioned teardowns and other things we still don't know. Once we have all the info and "speculation" is no longer required, they'll evaluate the thread as they should. This thread has to have set some GAF records, right? I don't know what the longest running or most pages/posts threads have been in GAF history but I'd imagine this one has to at least be close!

Thats what I would expect, it's just a stereo output at the end of the day. How it's mixed is upto the console.

Edit: from the blog " On the PS5, you'll be able to experience 3D Audio with the headphones that many of you already own, either through USB connection to the console, or by plugging your headphones into the DualSense wireless controller's 3.5mm headset jack. "

So yes, think that confirms universality.
