I won't pile on the guy. Did he have pictures with his XSX, seems like those that received them were supposed to promote they had them in some way.

i think some xbox fans now know how ps fans felt about FUD.

but even at 67c at the vent, it is within the normal working temperature for those silicons. xbox will be fine. it also helps keep your room warm. we need it for the winter. one catch is whether xbox will do thermal throttling. i doubt it will otherwise MS cannot say xsx has a fixed frequency anymore.

on a different topic, i feel the fixed frequency is quite a waste nowadays. Is it really fixed?

Quite a difference. I mean $10 more or whatever and if you're into the genre, why not?

That Steph Curry 3 pointer from the top of the key looks like a real broadcast in comparison.
Damn that's a pretty good difference especially for a sports game where they usually look the same year to year
I havent played 2K for a few years but I remember the models looking more like the left on PS4

Have they dumbed down the models on PS4 and just kept them for next gen?

Yoboman Yoboman
You are correct!
WE ALL got bamboozled.

yep.

i remember the PS2 Disc Read Errors. There is no way Sony didnt know about that before launch.

That said, my PC heats up my room whenever I play and this after installing a pretty fancy heatsink on the CPU and three new fans on top of a new cool and quiet case.

if you want high end gaming, thats the price you have to pay. I expect the PS5 to be hot too.
I leave my pro about 18 inches from the wall on a stool so it's in open air. Have only blown it out a couple times with compressed air and it works great and quiet (launch day pro). It's pretty high too so dust stays minimal. I think people need to stop putting these things in closed areas where their vent is close to a wall. I saw a guy with a series x and the shelf above it was like an inch away from the top of it where the hot air comes out. Seems like they're asking for heat problems

I'm not sure it can run hot and have the SSD/IO complex performance - that has effectively been verified by Epic with UE5's demo.

The Road to PS5 explanation about constant boost clocking screams less energy wasted as heat IMHO, because the clocking is designed to consume excess power - from the constant supplied wattage - on narrower occupancy workloads. Even smartshift is designed to do the same on the CPU side - by pushing excess power to the GPU to drive the GPU clock marginally higher to absorb more of that energy as work done.

in the simple equations of:

TotalPower = PowerForWorkdone + PowerWastedAsHeat

It stands to reason that minimising the PowerWastedAsHeat for a config, increasing the volume over which the heat is dissipated, and doubled your cooling solution - say with a heatsink on both sides of the APU - allows you to have a super powerful config, that is quiet and as a modest temperature too.

people still on the heat thing 😆 its amazing how far people take things, proves to people here that its not just one side who spreads FUD

also it all started from out of context clip?

EDIT: realized i said "people" alot

Well, someone quoted him and i don't know why anyone would use him as a legit source lmfao. But just wanted to acknowledge you that he actually fixed his ridiculous claim before.

Yup. I mean Nvidia has a freaking >30TF GPU yet DLSS is used pretty much everywhere to get better results. That's the right way forward.

Totally agree,

Shaders will be used to decompress via GPU and match the PS5 IO by brute force. Which possibly occupies about 2 Tflops approximately.

They will improve the geometry and textures up to 8k as we saw in the UE5 on PS5. And I think that's what they will do. Trying to keep 4k barely but DLSS will save the 4k 60 fps on PC. (3080 20 gb or 3090).

However, it will be a very big change both playable, argumentative and graphically. By removing many limitations with the old IO.

I think he are confusing Liquid Metal refrigeration design seen in sony's patents with liquid refrigeration. I would love to see that assembled, it would be a very elegant and innovative solution that could improve many devices in the future.

But they are nothing alike. Liquid Metal is the interface between the heatsink and the SOC. However the cooling solution will still be heatsink + air. In front of liquid refrigeration.

They are not the same thing.

So that's that fixed frequency everybody was beating their chest about......So you are going to play a BC game or an indie that can give you 4k 60fps with half the GPU power and half the CPU power, but you will keep your XBOX at max clocks just for shits and giggles.....or to boast about max clocks online, silly wars.....Yet the detriment was always more consistent heat and power consumption, without the box really needing to burn all that energy....

yeah, this thing was done way back in December when Phil said he took it home. Then DF and others literally picked it apart and put it back together in March. These are the final units and there is not a goddamn thing they can do to fix it other than changing the vapor chamber cooling system or changing the fans.

And lets not forget that they have only been running backward compatibility games on it that are not using the full power of the GPU or CPU. if i had to guess they are running at half power.

I also find it funny that after literally a year of rumors about the PS5 running hot, its actually the xbox series x. First it was no RT and now PS5 has more games with RT and MS is literally shipping DMCV with no RT. Then PS5 being RDNA 1.0 and then we find out the XSX GPU architecture is literally identical to the 5700xt. These guys project more than Trump.

Karmas a bitch.

I’ve already lost interest in the next gen launches. I cancelled my XSX preorder and will do the same with my PS5 preorder. I’m content catching up on my backlog and waiting a year or two to see which console suits me best. I had more fun playing Super Mario Bros. 35 than I’ve had with any PS4 games this generation.
