There are 4 screw holes inside the bay to install 2230, 2242, 2260, and 2280 M.2 form factor SSDs. So we can pick from 4 different sizes, and there appears to be some room inside the bay incase the drive is a bit larger. Bay is under the white plate. No idea when we will find out what drives are supported, but going off this look, seems obvious that drives like the Samsung 980 Pro will be supported. They will easily fit inside.

Not massively concerned with form factor but questions about random/seq read and write speed that would be required.

Stop spreading FUD, no way the PS5 is that small.

He's either a very small man or the PS5 is gargantuan. I'm sure there's a reason for the design, but it's still laughably big. I'm still trying to figure out where to place it in our living room.

So from what I'm reading, the average Japanese male is 5'6" which is pretty short. Here in the U.S most guys I know are about 5'10, and I'm about 6'2. I'm guessing this dude is just kinda smallish.

The console is absolutely huge. But it doesn't seem bad under the hood.

Goes to show why Playstation will always sell more. Xbox cannot sell their own product, they need to try and crap on other products. And then fail miserably, of course.
Hope you're being sarcastic, because that's clearly an answer/joke to Sony's video about trading games on PS4.

Posted this in the other thread, but thought it might warrant inclusion here as well:

Speaking from a marketing and communications perspective, this presentation of this teardown is absolutely perfect.

A calm Japanese man in a smart shirt (all screams 'expert!'), sitting in a clean room, slowly and confidently showing us every important aspect of the Playstation's construction.

No screaming YouTubers. No idiotic, paid off influencers. No need to overplay or exaggerate. Just a straight forward presentation that shows everyone just how well designed the inside of the console is.

And 'liquid metal cooling' will sell an extra few million consoles. Mark my fucking words.

One has real life engineer. The other had Digital Fraudery doing scripted acting playing fake enginneer. It's actually pretty sad. You can see where standards are between company's. Also video production quality. Its on the blog neat & tidy. Professional media roll out.

Yeah, a reply that came 7 years too late. Most MS marketing videos for the Xbox are a "response" to a PS5 feature or lack of thereof. That's a fact. And that's also why the sales will be 3:1 this gen, because they don't care about their product, they care about someone else's.

that heatsink is huge and is the one and only reason for that design. they didnt want to go with an expensive vapor chamber cooling solution like MS did and ended up saving $20 in the process.

I mean, you literally said: "Goes to show why Playstation will always sell more. Xbox cannot sell their own product, they need to try and crap on other products. And then fail miserably, of course."

So it doesn't matter if the answer came "late". The fact is that Sony did the same.

But that's just it. I won't waste time discussing this with you, cause it's pretty clear to me that I am talking to a fanboy.

I think it is more laughable that people have whole living _rooms_ and claim they dont know where to put it ;)

Like, it is not a fridgerator or huge subwoofer so it should fit 99.99% of living rooms easily.

Real problem is people whom have some sort of decorative OCD and everything must fit the fengshui / design or it won't "fit".

It's not fault of console(s) if people have bought some tiny ass cabinets/desks because they look good, but cant even fit standard sized amplifier (which is bigger than PS5)

Functionality > looks in furniture.

Just stand it on floor or something like small "table" :)
