if its any help i very much doubt i will be putting one under my tree this year, probably next year if stock comes in,
I am just getting the plain console with no next-gen games, its bc all the way for me. Cant afford 70 bucks a game, ridiculous.
Demon souls can await my terrifying skills till i am 51 or something, i am going to die so much in that game, i can feel it already.

My guess.
Emulation vs Native Hardware BC.
Basically why alot of PS4 games are working on the PS5. However Microsoft's BC does bring some nice upgrades to games.

Boost Mode, according to Sony, will allow “select PS4 games” to run at higher or more stable framerates on PS5. So, if a game has an unlocked framerate, it should hit the upper limits more often than it does on PS4. Likewise, if a game does not have an unlocked frame rate, but it’s somewhat unstable on PS4, it should hit its target more on PS5. Basically, your PS4 games will play a little smoother on PS5. That being said, it is only “select” PS4 games that will benefit from “Game Boost” and for all we know, it could be 2, or it could be all of them. Again, vague Sony is vague.

I did not notice evry game boosted, most ran at the set resolution like Sekiro which is 1800p on XSX .

On PS Side Mark Cerny said Top 100. The devs have to put in work for more frame rates etc . Some of the devs just don't give a fuck & don't want to do free work. Many will probably just leave their game as is & continue working on their new projects. You bought the game for PS4 thats what you get. Anything else is bonus & companies being nice.

Its the same as with series x without an optimisation patch. If a game has dynamic resolution or unlocked framerate then you can expect to see an improvement.
Digital foundry specifically tested games were they expected to see improvements on series x.

No one claimed the Xbox would have MORE games at launch, just that games from across four generations will work and come with big visual and performance enhancements. The PS4 might have MORE games that will boot up but maybe a large chunk of them will have performance issues and zero improvements. Also the PS4 has some big well rated titles but then a ton of little shovelware games so ehh to each their own.

You know it's more stable to run things in a hardware level than emulation right? So it's out of the question that PS4 games will be more stable and solid than Xbox One. Going much more back is a niche market of a minority. PS4 games will matter for probably 1-3 years max.

More than be stable, the thing which doesn't matter because Xbox is good enough with its emulation is
you should be able to play offline in PS5 in BC mode.

I agree that it will be more important in the first 1-3 years, but if Sony can't deliver on the performance improvements they're loosely advertising here people won't be as quick to run out and upgrade to a PS5. I think Sony knows this and that's why they first said they believe in generations but then took it back and said we will support PS4 for the next 4-5 years and waited until right before launch to speak on BC at all.

He said he expects most of that 100 to be playable by launch... testing something doesn't mean that the test passed... it means you tested it.. and when you say you expect most to be working within 7 months, that means you found issues.

In my case I don't care BC in any console as selling point but in my opinion if I will focus in this I will prefer to have the BC without download nothing
of course you lost things like the digital titles and the improved code/assets but that will give you a console with a longer life.

PS5 at launch is honestly much more exciting than PS4 was, PS5 has BC while PS4 didn't, and the launch games on PS5 are much more exciting than those were on PS4 at launch (imo at least).
Being able to play all PS4 games at 60 fps is in itself a huge deal, add to this awesome exclusives like DmS, Spiderman and others, i think it's easily one of the best launch console when it comes to games, if not the best.

You are correct, it is a 2x2 Spatial Stream then at 80MHz this is still 1.2Gbps, so 150MB/s speeds can still manage a video stream to the headset. Real world is likely less but approx 120MB/s is still good enough, Specifically if that is heavily compressed and targets a 1440/120fps rate.
