Yeah, honestly PS4 started flying until Q1 2015 with Bloodborne, TW3, MKX and cie (there were cool games before, but nothing crazy for my taste lol), but with PS5 it seems starting right away. Demon Souls, Spiderman, R&C, HZFW, GOWR and much more. Add this the BC games, with PS4 i was still playing quite a lot PS3 and WiiU (mostly for Bayonetta 2) until fall 2014/early 2015, that's pretty cool that you can do it all (play old and new) with one and same console ^^

I don't mean it's confirmed about all games being at 60 fps, but if GOT can do it (one of the games that pushed PS4 at max), don't see why other games can't do it.

Someone reminded me this yesterday in another thread, but Cerny had talked about testing 100 most popular PS5 games with boost mode and the results he said were fantastic. So it does seem that the 60 fps toggle is an OS level toggle that does not need a patch. Just enable boost mode and games should get the boost speeds with a 60 fps toggle.

The toggle Suckerpunch mentioned is in the game itself, ,which is written to detect boost mode.
So unless a game has unlocked framerates, it would need to do the same to have a 60FPS mode.
But games without framerate locks should get a boost, as I think you are right, I do agree it sounds like you turn it on at the OS level and then the game either detects it or doesn't.
That's how I read it at least.

GoT is a game launched after July 8th that are required to be tested and patched to work on PS5 BC Boost Mode.
It was mandatory to be shipped ready for PS5 BC Boost Mode.

I don't think I'm "the guy", but I believe I have a decent take on it (I've said this in a different thread). When your SSD and I/O is as fast as what's in the PS5, it literally changes how you utilize RAM. The amount of assets and the sheer quality of those assets can go up tremendously. Not to mention you no longer need to keep "cold" assets sitting in RAM just in case. What I mean by "cold" is stuff that the game needs in RAM pre-loaded because HDD isn't fast enough to fetch it when needed. Basically, you have more RAM available for more and prettier stuff as long as the GPU is fast enough to draw it. I'd also like to point out from Cerny's talk that he mentioned he wanted to stream in assets faster than the player could turn around. If that is the case, than you probably save on unnecessary GPU utilization too. Just my two cents here.

yep. even if it needs a patch, the patch will be as simple as adding a toggle to detect it at the OS level. It wont be a full patch that requires devs to test and implement a 60 fps option. just add support to detect boost mode and let that do its thing.

Cyberpunk devs themselves already said the game will ship with the PS5 BC Boost Mode enhancement.
But they will do a even better patch later to take fully advantage of the hardware as a PS5 game.
They didn't detailed the difference between the enhancement PS5 BC Boost Mode and the future patch.

The PS4 Pro version will likely be 1440p 30 fps or maybe lower. Since the BC boost mode is enabled, its possible that it will be 60 fps if Cerny has somehow managed to toggle the 60 fps option at the OS level.
Or they could just do a dynamic resolution / unlocked framerate option and just let the PS5 run the game at 4k 60 fps until the ray tracing features arrive next year.

The funny thing here is the PS4, slim and Pro all had the issue all gen of having a lot of power in too small a space resulting in too much noise and running quite hot (though heat never proved to be much of an issue)
So far it seems XSX runs nice and quiet but it will be interesting how long that lasts once dust builds up. Same with PS5, on paper it should be a huge improvement over PS4 but the real test will come after a few months use and dust build.

But he's not wrong. Whether or not the took a "safer" approach aesthetically. There's something to be said of fitting that amount of custom hardware into such a compact form factor whilst running in near silence.
Because probably 95% of Xbox users would have a problem to tightening one screw. A screwdriver is not such an easy machine...

I think they are both wrong here. there is nothing brilliant about the PS5's stand. It's just a stand.
And there is nothing wrong with having a screw holding a stand together. If you dont have a screwdriver in your house, your parents have failed you. This goes for both men and women.

You can do what manufacturers have been doing with monitor bases for decades, metal screw with a little metal handle that flips down when you aren't using it. Simple. Not that the screwdriver thing is a big deal. You'll need more tools than that for completing the room addition you'll need to have it in the house to begin with.
