I think they made Sackboy more grounded in terms of the control. Thought I read something like that somewhere, but not entirely sure..

Maybe the feeling of the controls resembles something like Mario Galaxy or w/e?

That would be the ideal. Mario is most people's ideal reference point as far as control tightness. At least for those of us that grew up on Mario 64 and later platformers.

Because the console was supposed to ship 2019 and all the titles shown so far are PS4 games that shifted to PS5 development that have been in the works for a while... i've said this multiple times and people got upset with me but the fact that most of the games have been officially revealed to be cross-gen it should be more obvious to people. Not saying the games look bad or are held back in any way, i'm just saying they're showing us PS4 games running on the PS5 dev kits with snazzy next gen enhancements added on.

Xbox Series X been in development since 2016, PS5 since 2015. Xbox was late to class.

In order to know which games don't work they needed to test them ALL. Are you telling me that you believe they didn't try to run the rest in PS5 boost mode? Of course they did. They have the list that benefits from it and we can check individual games from the 19th on the new psn store.

Also, they specifically spend time and money to add hardware BC to the console and then tested all 4k games to see if they worked.

And here you are saying they don't care about BC! Hilarious!

Please go spread this console warring misinformation somewhere else...

They started before the Pro was launched... I wonder if Pro patches had some guidelines for Boost Mode thinking of the PS5.

I think they've passed through all cycles: GCN 14.2TF, RDNA1 9.2TF, then now RDNA2 10.3. Just like XSX was clocked at around 1600MHz and so. It takes extensive research and testing. Mark Cerny said that they started R&D for PS4 in 2006 right after PS3 release!

DS4 input lag using BT is one of the lowest of any controller in the market.
DS4 Wired is not that good.
What do all those analysis have in common? That they say that the polling frequency is higher when using BT. That's why it's lower.
Do we know how it would work if the polling frequency was the same when wired? No, and if we don't we can't make a fair comparisons of protocols. That's all I am saying.

You are using the bandwidth of the USB data bus to compare to various bandwidth requirements for video. However, remember TypeC can also support DisplayPort in alternate mode, not just a USB data bus.

Now, being honest here, I don't know anything on this personally, but reading it appears TypeC can have different versions of alternative mode, where more wires of the cable are given over to the DisplayPort signals. A 4 lane alternative mode allows for full DP v1.3, with an effective data rate of ~ 26 Gbps. This provides enough bandwidth for 4K at 8bit color and 120Hz.

You are right, if any wireless link is involved, compression must be used.

I recently got a Acer Swift 3, that has a USB-C port, and I got a USB-C to Display port cable, and I plugged it in my 1440p 144Hz PC monitor, and I used the laptop's HDMI port to plug into a 1080p60 monitor, and ran both at the same time. It had no problems running 1440p at 144 Hz. Even the laptop screen continued to operate, as the 3rd display.

That laptop has the AMD "Renoir" APU, which shares some similarities to the APU in the PS5.

Amazing the level of compatibility were getting. I was worried about losing some of my games.

Excellent news!

Now I can sell my PS4 Pro, after getting the PS5. There will be flood of PS4 and Pro models hitting ebay after November 19th. Good, it will allow a lot of people to get the PS4 at more affordable prices now. PS4 Pro (console only) can still command easily over $300 US on ebay.

the only thing i don't see on that website is anything about improved load times. I am super happy that all those games are on it i was hoping for major reduced times in loading. humm.

Because as dev I want the people know I put effort is try to utilize the hardware,
not all the studios can have the same level capabilities the problem is if Xbox
use that number as marketing but is not fault of the dev.

If this dev said something like "better than could be possible in PS5" then yes you
can attack him because basically that indie is lying.

Another example not technical is when Atlus said Persona 5 sells more than 3 million
of course for another studio/publisher like Activision that is embarrassing number
but for Atlus is a reason to feel proud of that number.

I expect generally a 2x differential in loading speeds honestly between ps5 and xsx for 3rd party games which could be useful for some people. Imo it's at the point of dimishing returns until game sizes increase again.

You know I should grab about good things... not bad ones to sell my game.
Some for units sold... you just use them when you are selling well... let's ask Atlus about games that sold less than 1 million and they just spin the talk.

I have said it a few times and the first time I got some nasty PMs here for it.

The XSX is an amped up Xbox One and thats still great.

PS5 is a next gen console.

I don't think that's slow by any means. I don't know of any current gen games that load as fast or faster than that. I DO think that we'll see a larger difference with the PS5 in this area, but the XSX is by no means going to be considered SLOW. I mean...we're about to the point already where load times will be artificially extended thru animations and such like we're seeing with the Demons Souls demo and using the warp stones.... Both of these boxes are going to show HUGE improvement in loading both current gen and next-gen games.

Looking back, is there any particular reason why earlier consoles had a much lower power draw compared to modern consoles?

Starting with the PS360 generation, we saw power consumption at around 170 watts for the hd twins, the same was true for the current gen, and it seems next gen will be in the same ballpark.

But if we look back at the PS2 or OG XBox, we see a power draw of only 70-80 watts. The PS1 only used 10 watts, and I'm sure earlier consoles used even less. In fact, even handhelds these days have higher power consumption than earlier consoles.

Was there any technical reason why power consumption was so low back then?

Edit: Could Sony have raised the frequency of the PS2 until it consumed about the same as a ps3 or pS4, to make the console much more powerful? They would've needed a good cooling system, of course, but it should have been possible, or not?

The dev of game requires a huge effort alone and you don't have idea of the problem the
indie had, left the people be happy.

We know the SSD of PS5 is much better but that doesn't means you have to attack any
other thing is like when a PC gamer feel the necessity of mention framerate every 5 min.
