Tell me about it. Imagine what would happened if I put my PS4 pro in a small cabinet. This is my pro playing Dreams, starts at 0:39. So fuckig glad PS5 is going to be quiet

Haha, that's nothing.

Try playing Modern Warfare.

My Pro got so loud I was legit starting to get worried and just quit the game. Have not played it for months. I'll continue playing it on PS5 OR Series X. Whichever one I end up getting.

It's actually a spelling mistake.

It should be Alex Bukake.

It was a good video and he's right on alot of points, but what he has to consider here is that when looking at Sony's footage of say Spiderman for instance, Sony did not give them that, so they can feel free to point out flaws. Dirt on the other hand, they have to please both Microsoft and Codemasters if they want to continue to receive hardware and software in the future. There are enough questions about potential bias from DF that if I were Sony, I'd be ok with leaving them out of the pre release marketing cycle.

At this point I really hope he is getting paid for this level of damage controlling, otherwise its just plain embarrassing

Im sure his next tweet will be about how much he hates Burger King anyway
Good grief. Sorry, but from the reaction I saw from a lot of Bladerunner fans online, Detroit does appear to have a better story than the new Bladerunner movie had! :)

Folks, be mindful of the petty console warring in here. Friendly banter is fine, all out meme trolling and fanatical theatrics will get this thread closed prematurely.

You don’t want it closed before the UI feature set and the like are hinted and revealed, riiiighht?!
Correct, sir! Mod of War: Remastered Mod of War: Remastered has spoken! NOT until we have the UI and all that jazz...please! Just chill a tiny bit and let's get back to some talk.

We've seen at least part of the XSX UI due to these recent backwards compatibility influencer videos. What do current Xbox users think of what's been shown? Any noticeable difference in how it works or performance that you can glean from watching those videos?

For the Sony side....does anyone think that we'll see something radically different, or will it stick more with some of the patents we've seen and be a solid evolution of the current PS4 UI? I'm thinking that...but from some of the comments made and buzz right now I actually think that it's likely to be a reality that you'll be able to install and play say the multi-player component of a game first, or perhaps even solely. Likewise for the single player portions. Will depend on Developers to implement and support of course.

I think it's likely to finally have support for things like being able to show your friends a game you're playing as well. More social integrations, but not necessarily with Twitter and FaceBook although that will obviously be there as well.

Any thoughts here?

Lol stop with this " enough questions" for sony bias, its a bullshit excuse to explain away something not liked by specific people. It's getting old. The only people that are biased, are the people complaining DF is biased.

The way the PS5 UI has been teased these last few months, I'm expecting an overhaul of the interface. There was also these patents about AI assistant and stuff. Maybe some of that will be built into it? Other than that, expecting a buttery smooth experience.

Wow! I honestly thought you were joking and the sound was a vacuum cleaner or something. Ok, ok....I have to admit as well, if MY PS4 Pro started sounding like THAT every time I played a game then yes, I would say that was very distracting. I'd definitely have to risk breaking it by trying to fix it...vacuuming it out, trying to apply new thermal paste or WHATEVER could possible solve the issue. That is crazy. Almost makes me think something is wrong because I would think the system wouldn't be able to make the fans spin THAT fast and hard!

Ah I forgot about the AI assistant. Curious about the applications for that. I mean I can see a kind of Siri or Cortana to help with web browsing and the like. Maybe you can say you want to play 'first person shooter' or something and it will go out and say what you have installed that meets that criteria and also the top choices on PSN that you could get? Something like that?

The recent description about the panes being a bit smaller and springing up from the bottom makes sense to me as well. Maybe with only a few weeks to go now we can expect to get some information like tomorrow or next Tuesday? Ugh....I hate all this waiting and I really almost feel like we'll get nothing else till launch day...from either MS or Sony. But we'll see....

So why not have both thumb sticks up top?
Lemme guess only your left thumb cramps and your right is perfectly fine?
both on top would indeed be better, the pint is having some space between your two thumb when the left stick is on the bottom it means you get your thumbs closer together more often in most games since most games use the stick for movement. playstation controller is fine for when you are using stick + buttons but when you are using the two sticks it positions your thumbs too close together.

ofcourse, this is joke and it's all preference, but it was a fun time thinking about why I actually prefer it.

You already stressed that it's a severe problem pressing X instead of O for confirmation, so I need a picture of your hands because you may as well suffer from something unusual.

Point is that it's just funny seeing this being treated as an innovation when people have had it in the switch for years.

Some cool features from what you're saying might be ideal. If there's anything to go off on, that Burger King teaser shows Thursday for something to happen. I'd imagine Burger King ads to follow up withwhatever Sony shows.

I'm not expecting much, but again, the way Sony is teasing it sounds like a big deal for people.

I have a feeling the PS5's user interface will be a significant enhancement or should I say a "soft overhaul" of the current PS4 UI which is actually really good, I'd expect much more features especially and a much deeper ability to customise the XMB, I'm quiet tired of looking at irrelevant widgets on the menu when I just want to jump into my game.

If I am not mistaken, Sony did hire an employee who had worked at Apple to help work on the UI and say what you want about Apple but their UI's across all their products is brilliant, simple and straightforward in it's presentation yet the functionality can be complex, we've already seen Sony follow in some of the footsteps of Apple this past year and rightfully so.

Back to the UI, I'd expect some of the features to be expanded upon more and the new CPU as well as the fast SSD should ensure the UI is snappy, responsive and very stable, something which is very lacking in the PS4 and PS4 Pro. I'm also curious as to why Sony have have changed the "Share" button to "Create", as mentioned before I think they'll overhaul and enhance the PS5's sharing and editing features as well as game streaming to services like Youtube and Twitch. They'll also encourage users to experiment with their "Sharefactory 2.0", which is an excellent piece of software on the PS4. I can't state exactly what features they'll be introducing because unfortunately my lousy imagination can't think of anything lol but I'm sure you see where I am coming from.

Like a said to other folks around here, the console is loud, but the video is an extreme example, dreams make that cooler fan go nuts. Naughty dog games too. But with other games the console is quieter

I like what you were pointing out about the "create" button instead of share. I think that points to them providing more tools and encouraging more creation of clips rather than just simply sharing a dump of your game session. Trying to capitalize more on the increased numbers of people producing their own videos for YouTube and the like. So I expect the new ShareFactory to have quite a few more features than in the past.

I didn't know they hired a person from Apple's UI team. You're right about that...people love to rip on Apple but there's a reason their interface designs are heavily referenced by schools. They really do a good job of providing functionality in a simple and smooth looking format. That makes me very hopeful for the future of the Playstation UI, that's for sure!

It also wouldn't surprise me if they licensed some software or completely overhauled the "messages" function and app. Made it more feature rich and more like an iMessage or Skype in functionality. At least being able to use PSN themed emoticons or the avatars and things they sell on PSN. Could be some marketing and revenue generating options for Sony there if they did it right.

Or what if like on the iPhone, you could use the Playstation camera to animate emoticons, even while speaking? That could be cool. I think that stuff's probably highly unlikely as Sony will focus on games and game functions, but I can see the possibilities.

One thing that I've been talking about and wanting for YEARS now is something I think they could simply do now. Lots of us spend WAY too much time in character creation screens, trying to create and actually good looking male or female avatar. Why can't we use the console cameras to scan our own faces and map that onto a character in a game? Make your own face in Nioh2 for example and THEN be able to customize with an eye patch and the other things? I don't see any reason why they couldn't do this. Obviously wouldn't be for everyone but for some, I think it would be really cool if you could make your character look like yourself!

So that's some of what I'm hoping for either now or in the future.

We would need to wait for a more independent teardown, but at the moment there are 2 chips of which we know nothing about. One (Red) could be the Audio/Tempest engine (if the logic is not in the SoC), and another one (Orange) is alone in a corner. There is another chip (Black) by the HDMI port, and should be the HDMI output chip.

Hmm 🤔.....I wonder if the Orange is in any way related to the Expansion NVMe drive. Cerny did say that:
They connect through the custom I/O unit just like our SSD does.
But who knows. Definitely looking forward to learning what those chips actually are as well as their function.

The M2 SSD will just run via PCIe to the SSD controller, so I doubt that.

One of those 2 chips could be a network processor, PS4 had a similar sized chip for that. The other could be related to USB or be a custom secondary background processor like the PS4 had.

Anyone have a short, simple summary that can tell me what the HELL Guilty Gear even is? I've heard the name before.....but to be honest, it sounds bizarre? Is this some big, popular series I've just never seen and played?

One of THE greatest fighting game series in our Milky Way Galaxy, period. It had its very humble beginning on PSX/1 and thrives to this day thanks to an engaging narrative, some of the best character designs and soundtrack ever for a fighting game, some of the best design, you name it. Honestly my words do the game no justice as the creator of the series, Daisuke Ishiwatari is genius lol. Here’s a clip:

The orange unknown looks to be related to the optical drive, as the cable from the drive connects to the PCB on the opposite side of that. I'm not even sure it's a chip, and not something related to power delivery for the drive. No idea.

As for the Network processor (Ethernet PHY), I can only see the magnetics (Filters) next to the Ethernet jack. I believe the PHY is integrated into the SoC.

I'm not concerned since I'm not planning to buy an XBox. Just commenting in general by seeing the 2 types of approach to engineering of the boxes themselves. The airflow seems miserable when comparing to the approach Sony took on the PS5.
They seem to be victims of both wanting to keep the box as small as they could and also quiet. You can't have both while keeping it running cool.
The airflow of the series x looks great. It takes air in one end and takes it through the whole console through split channels and out the other end. The fact that it is expelling a great amount of heat is a GOOD thing. It means it’s doing it’s job. These consoles will make a lot of heat, and the more of it they get out of the console the better. If the PS5 isn’t expelling a lot of heat too there’s something wrong. No matter how good the cooling system is the systems will still get warm to the touch. That’s physics and all that.

Dirt looks okay, though not particularly impressive. But I assume it's cross gen anyway, so that's to be expected.

It seems Demon's Souls will be the only game with next-gen worthy visuals at launch. I wish were some next-gen exclusive racing or fighting games, like during console launches in the past. Those kinds of games used to be nice technical showpieces to start off a new gen, like Ridge Racer or Tekken Tag Tournament.
I’d hope that a remaster of a 2 generation old game can look the best. That’s not exactly anything to boast about. It’s a game that was made for a console that was what, 0.4TF of power? Graphically it looks nice, still a PS3 game though.

To think just a few weeks ago we were counting the leaves on the Spider-Man remastered RT reflections. Those were simpler times.
We were too young to understand back then, too inexperienced... but those were the days, if only we could go back and relive that fortnight ago once again, knowing what we know now.
