The VRS in the reflection looks a frame or two behind the scene ;)

"I was told that the CPU of the PS5 uses a unified design, whilst it is Zen 2 based the actual 2 CPU clusters are up one against another sharing a L3 cache more like Zen 3, and while I've been told this now by basically 2 people it is not confirmed and could be wrong...personally I think it's quiet likely because of what Sony have said about cache coherency".

He also mentioned we need an actual die shot of the PS5's CPU which is unlikely to be released by Sony themselves however Paul did mention there is a dude online who breaks apart the CPU and GPU's and get's really nice die shots.

I know LiquidRex LiquidRex was excited for this video

Would be amazing if true

Some people have a misconception that frame times and performance are limited to just how fast your GPU is, but CPU performance is obviously critical too, it would be no good if you had a GPU that can render beautiful visuals at 4K at 120fps if you don’t have a CPU that can generate enough frame data to render that quickly on the GPU. A powerful GPU needs a powerful CPU to back it up and Xbox Series X delivers this.

So unless I'm misunderstanding the context...

Just a small theory. Back then developers didn't really have access to Xbox Series X hardware. My guess is that they were developing the games on PCs. When they shifted over to the Series X dev kits they had to make changes to their games.

That's my guess.

- console running hot, described as "violent", "toasty", and reports of shutting down. Obviously influencers are unable to find a cabinet with proper airflow
- shuts itself down during a live stream, again probably due to user error (either improper airflow or bad cable management).
- screen tearing and lod issues on Dirt 5, obviously problems with the capture cards
- No ray-tracing so far apart from Minecraft, because influencers brains are not prepared for such awesomness.

Doesn't the Series X have enough power to run a game like Yakuza at 4K 60FPS?

I mean Yakuza isn't exactly a next gen looking game.
there is something off here. it should have enough power to run current gen games a 4k 60 fps. or 1440p 120 fps. MS told DF the xsx is just as powerful as the rtx 2080 which makes sense seeing as how it is 12 tflops.

however, dirt 5 is downgrading a lot of graphics options to hit 120 fps and have to go down to 1080p as well. my rtx 2080 can run pretty much every game at 1440p 120 fps if i can run it at 4k 60 fps. there is definitely a bottleneck somewhere. maybe its like the xone where the tools arent ready yet. iirc, xbox one launched with a bunch of 720p games and it wasnt until later in the gen did they start hitting 900p.

it will be interesting to see if the ps5 has similar bottlenecks. dmc4 is only running at 1080p 60 fps with rt even though its 30 fps option runs at native 4k. maybe its rdna 2.0.

If we are putting the blame on dev kits i doubt developers are having issues with the PS5s. According to Digital Foundry the only complaints have been about the XSXs GDK and not the PS5 SDK. So I don't see any issues when it comes to the dev kits on the PS5.

However you did mention that RDNA2 could have some issues which would affect both systems. But what's weird about that is that the PS5 has some form of RT in their games and that's a big feature of RDNA2 which both consoles are based on.

Obviously those influencers don't know how to plugin a Series X

I was a loyal one, but because I chose The Witcher 3 over Bloodborne, they named me a traitor!

Well, you can't be a traitor if you were in the wrong team to begin with.

But wait a second.....in the Witcher 3 you can bone chicks!!!?? Isn't than an acceptable factor?
