How long does it take on PS4?

I actually plan to count this once I got home later, but it sure one of those games that has some insane loading time.

Just randomly i'd say around one minute from dash to main menu. And around more or less 10 seconds before each fight starts.

I'm not ignoring anything... the article CONFIRMED it is a WD SN530.
I can't tell if you are just daft or trolling, though likely both.

Today we posted up an erroneous report stating the Xbox Series X's internal SSD didn't support PCIe 4.0, and that it used a stock WD SN530 SSD. Western Digital has reached out to clarify this is wrong, and the built-in Series X SSD is in fact a customized solution that supports PCIe 4.0.

According to Western Digital, the Xbox Series X's WD SN530 SSD isn't a stock OEM drive that's limited to PCIe Gen3 x4 performance. Instead, the drive has been outfitted with a special ASIC that enables both PCIe Gen3 x4 and Gen4 x2 performance, which allows for up to 3.938 GB of max throughput. For reference, the Series X targets 2.4GB/sec in uncompressed data transfers.

You have to be trolling... it is not possible to be that obtuse.

The SSD inside the Series X is a SN530... every teardown up to know showed it... people said it was FUD, fake, photoshoped, etc... and WD just confirmed it is indeed a SN530.

You are trying to change a true story because WD changed the ASIC chip to support PCI-E 4.0 protocol... the teardowns were correct... it is a WD SN530 SSD.

I really appreciate his insight, but I’m honestly not sure why he comes in here. I’ve only been around a wee bit, but every time he responds people come out of the woodwork to attack him.

According to the article they dressed like this despite 6” of snow falling that day. The women are built tough up north.

You bet he’ll stay warm indoors and argue with you nerds 😂😂😂

Ok, we have 2 days to PS5 release - we still need to see PSN/Store and AFAIK there is still NDA on DeS. I was fairly certain that we would get something today - either Store or DeS reviews. But seems like there is nothing...

I don't understand removing the web browser. Of course it's useful.

There's a web browser setting in the PS5 menue. Looks like they decided to not support it recently then? Doesn't make any sense that it's there with no web browser.

They denied claims that it doesn't support a PCIe 4.0 interface. And it does support it, indeed. Doesn't change which SSD it is.

I suppose English isn't your mother tongue, hence your confusion while reading it.
Nope. That FUD thread OP states it uses the stock OEM SN530, this correction states the exact opposite. Maybe logic isn't part of your vocabulary.

Most PS4 and Switch spoilits come from WebBrowser scripts.

What spoilits happened on PS4 that was bad enough to remove the browser?
The PS4 was hacked via webbrowser.
That is how consoles with firmware before a version can be hacked to play homebrew and pirated games.

"Despite an active console hacking community, only few public PlayStation 4 exploits have been released. The exposed WebKit-based browser is usually the entrypoint of a fullchain attack: from browser exploitation to kernel exploitation."

I won't post sources because it come from a hack site.

I still believe it is lazy... instead to constant work with the browser security fixes they choose to remove it.

The lane has the same clock in 3.0 and 4.0 (800Mhz if I'm not wrong) the different is the data transferred is compressed in 4.0 allowing more data to travel... physically PCI-E 3.0 and 4.0 are the same.

PCIe3 uses a clock of 8 GHz and encodes with 128b/130b. Which means for every 130 symbols transmitted, 128 bits of actual data are transmitted. Think of it as encoding not to make the size smaller (it's larger), but more resilient.

So, 128b/130b is a data rate of 0.9846 bit/s. At 8GHz, you are sending 8G*0.9846 bits per lane, or 0.9846 GB/s per lane.

PCIe4 increases the clock to 16 GHz, and uses the same encoding, so it's data rate per lane is doubled.

WD would have changed the ASIC on the drive to support the gen4 clocks, or if supported, changed the FW on the drive to change how the clock is generated internally on the drive to multiply it up to 16 GHz.

Urgh... Alex is doing the platform comparisons?

Expect some deep insightful analysis mixed together with some disingenuous mental gymnastics.

How can it be the same SSD if the ASIC is different? Talk about logic. The ASIC is part of the SSD, not separate.

This is a pointless argument about semantics. The device is from the same product range but customized. In the same way a custom BMW 116i is still a BMW 116i.

You are right they increased the clock (I just checked the specification)... I will fix my post.

Yes, that's right. The only reason to use 2 lanes instead of 4 is, that 2 lanes are much simpler to route and is enough for their desired speed target. It is as simple as that. Just to reduce the cost a bit more with things, they just don't need.

Actually the main reason is to reduce the pins used on the APU, less so on routing. Those pin outs are limited and if you can reduce the number you need, it's worth it.

Sounds like they're prioritizing TVs because Sony sells TVs. Of course they'll add in 1440p support after this initial surge of new TV sales.

Don't hold your breath. I wanted 1440p on the PS4pro. Never happened. It won't happen with the PS5 either. If you game on a monitor, plan to change to 4K.

They should work to fix these exploits instead of stopping support of it that's been there for 14 years. MS doesn't seem to have these issues with Xbox Internet brower.

Well they either write their own browser which takes a lot of work or use an open source library like Webkit that's impossible to control. Not worth the risk or time, after what happened.

They could just keep the browser updated with the latest WebKit and/or Chromium security fixes.
That is how MS do it... even more now that Edge is using Chromium too.

These exploits are first released to the browser engines teams to fix before release to public.

Ask me about my wife's perfect butthole
Browser on Xbox probably runs completely sandboxed using their hypervisor. Even if some web site managed to try to modify files it'd be pointless.

More evidence that Sony didn't go with a hypervisor approach, and is unlikely to ever have quick resume.

Who didn't watch porn with the PS4 brower. lol.

Plot twist: the big Sony surprise that people have been teasing is a dedicated Pornhub button which launches you directly into the app!

Playstation members also get a free 1 month subscription to PH premium, haha Microsoft and their Gamepass and Disney+ membership ain't got shit on it!

Ideally but Sony is Sony, they will be slow to update. It only takes a small window of lag for a hacker to capitalize on and it's gg anyways.
