every team of all time says this:

1. one play at a time! one game at a time!
2. we haven't done anything yet!
3. we're not content with where we are!
4. we can't look behind or ahead, we just have to concentrate on this game!

etc etc. i'll believe it when i see it. cleveland is a good test not because they are a tough team but they are a team we should destroy. we'll see!

Stop making fun of Flacco guys. Hes one of the nicest people you will ever meet.

Road to redemption for the Eagles starts this week. Expect them to win at least 10 games propelling them to a playoff berth.

NFC playoff picture:

Packers
Saints
Giants
49ers
Eagles
Who cares.

Spending 5 minutes with Tim Tebow will change your life.

That doesn't make him an elite QB.

Yeah I can see them squeaking a win against the cards or seachickens. I think Mia is a lock since they lost their chance to win it against godboy.

i spit out my drink reading this for some reason

I dont know about all that, now. I think the Browns will likely lose this game, but get destroyed? Did someone change the schedule? Are we now playing the Packers or...? I think you're over/under rating both of our teams.

As for Gruden/Cowher rumours, at this point I'd even take Marty Schottenheimer, any change would be good...

Not going to happen, no changes this season. The season is over...we NEED even a good chance at a quality quarterback. We need the first or at the very least the second pick.

@PFF_MikeClay: This is crazy. 164 of Antonio Brown's 195 (84.1%) snaps this season have been pass plays. Predictable much, Arians?

Alot of this is on Ben. He hates to run it, b/c he wants his stats. Can't argue it b/c it works. But I imagine if the Steelers ever hit a rough patch, one of the things they'll do is replace Arians and tell Ben to run what is called

Saw the interview. Stafford does not seem like he think he will be ready.

COME ON !!!!

It's Matt Stafford. He's made of glass.

Funny to think back to how everyone thought Godgers was injury prone out of college, and he's been fine except for the concussion. But Stafford is injured again.

The collective eeyoring by Eagles fans in here is disgusting.

Eagles by 10. Suck it.

Not eeyoring at all. Dallas is 3-1 in their last 4 against the Eagles and they are a terrible matchup for them this year. Their defensive front 7 is way to physical for the Eagles small quick OL. All I want from this game is for Vick to not get hurt.

Graham is a great story. Payton knows offensive talent when he sees it and how to keep players with rough histories in line. He is going to be very very successful in this offense and on this team. Graham has a great locker room around him with some solid leadership and it will make him even better. I can't wait to see this kid's potential.

Oh I imagine all the coaches will line up to run that team if they get Luck. Not sure about Indy b/c I'm not sure they would want to work under the Polians

I really think the Rams are out of it. They'll win a game or two. Either Indy or MIA will go 0-16
Yup. We'll suck throughout the season. Then right in time, we blow our chance for Luck. Hopefully we land a WR for the future.

Not to mention Brees looked like ass through his first three seasons before exploding in 2004.

Brees through his first 3 seasons (28 GP): 540/909 (59.4%), 5,613 yds, 29 TDs, 31 INTs, 73.7 QB rating

Brees since 2004 (117 GP): 2,817/4,212 (66.9%), 32,130 yds, 224 TDs, 109 INTs, 96.5 QB rating

Completely different player.
That is easily explainable though. He got out of San Diego.

Cleveland is a good test because they are the sort of team Harbaugh would gameplan conservatively against early on this year. They are no real threat to score, much like Seattle and Cincy were no real threats. Curious if the Niners still play just to win or if they go all out on Cleveland.

You guys watch your mouth when you talk about the Browns. They're going to SHOCK the world this Sunday. 49ers won't even know what hit them...

When we drop 14 points on dat 49ers ass!

It does say a lot about how much baggage that T.O. has when several teams are in absolutely desperate need of a WR with his kind of talent and do not even take a chance on him.

You know, avatars can be fixed.....for the right price.

lulz, I don't think FMT would stoop to that kind of punishment. Losing your avatar forevs is like losing a piece of you. Though avatar bet dodging is a serious offense. I would think a tag would be more appropriate....

Wrong homeboy! 31 of those 117 GP were with San Diego!

Drew Brees (SD '04-'05): 31 GP, 585/900 (65.0%), 6,735 yds, 51 TDs, 22 INTs, 96.1 QB rating

Why do you think he wanted top 5 QB money after his '05 season?

Perm avatars are pretty common in sports threads.

And Bish and co. usually pick awesome ones (with the exception of all of the ones they gave to me).

I'm surprised the bears or broncos don't want him.

As negative as I usually am I would really like to see the Rams get it going in the second half. SF twice and PIT are the only un-winable games.

The disparity between have and have nots in the league is striking. There could be three 13 win NFC teams. Might be four 12 win teams in the AFC. I really want a top WR in the draft, but 3 wins might take you out of the top 5, amazingly.

It really doesn't matter to me anyway because Brees got the Saints a ring. All the stats and records he keeps setting just add to his legacy. If it took him a couple years to adjust and start putting up the kinds of numbers he does regularly now, so be it. Everyone is different.

I'm just saying, Brees looked like crap through his first two-plus seasons and then when he got a kick in the ass in the form of the Chargers drafting Rivers, he suddenly upped his game to demi-god tier.

Tebow to TO.

Make it happen. ESPN will literally implode in orgasmic overhypeification.

Jamarcus Russell article in new SI issue:

Why did Russell dismiss offers from teams in the UFL and the Canadian league? "Name one kid in the world who says, 'I can't wait to play in the CFL!' That s--- don't work." How's he going to get back into shape? "I'm going to work out at LSU in the spring, take classes and hopefully get [invited] to a camp this summer... . Also, I'm building a 50-yard turf field on my property."

He did up his game, but I also think it took him a bit of time to adjust. He is only 6 feet tall and doesn't have the strongest arm. That isn't normally conducive to success in the NFL. Brees really had to learn to read defenses and improve his pocket presence to even have a chance. He couldn't just stand tall and deliver the ball over everyone's head.
What really mystifies me though is how fucking awful Rivers is playing right now. Did he get injured? Is his supporting cast that bad this year?

Pretty sure he's secretly injured, because he even has Gates back and still isn't playing much better.

His supporting cast this year is a lot better than it was last year when he was throwing it to a bunch of scrubs. He may be injured, but I think the bigger issue is something's not right with him mentally. He's making a bunch of bad decisions and looks scared to make mistakes (which usually ends up in him making mistakes anyway). At times he also seems like he's forcing things when he shouldn't be. Don't know how you fix something like that, but I hope he snaps out of it soon.

Here is the list of games that FOX and CBS protected (meaning they can't get flexed into the SNF slot)

It comes from the506.com from a guy who apparently "has a source on the inside":

Week 10
CBS - No protection
FOX - New Orleans vs. Atlanta

Week 11
CBS - San Diego vs. Chicago
FOX - Dallas vs. Washington

Week 12
CBS - New England vs. Philadelphia
FOX - Chicago vs. Oakland

Week 13
CBS - New York Jets vs. Washington
FOX - Green Bay vs. New York Giants

Week 14
CBS - New England vs. Washington
FOX - No protection

Week 15
CBS - New York Jets vs. Philadelphia
FOX - Washington vs. New York Giants

Week 16 stays as published due to the Christmas holiday.

Week 17 is in the hands of the NFL.

:jnc Why are so many games with Washington protected? They're going to be like 4-5 by the time Week 11 rolls around (lose to Bills and 49ers, beat Dolphins).

This is what I would think should be protected:

Week 10 - won't be flexed (NE at NYJ)
CBS - Buffalo at Dallas
FOX - New Orleans at Atlanta

Week 11 - won't be flexed (PHI at NYG)
CBS - San Diego at Chicago
FOX - Tampa Bay at Green Bay (tho I suppose NFC East rivalry is why they chose DAL at WAS)

Week 12 - could have been flexed, but prob won't be now (PIT at KC)
CBS - New England at Philadelphia
FOX - Chicago at Oakland

Week 13 - prob will be flexed (IND at NE)
CBS - Cincinnati at Pittsburgh
FOX - Green Bay at New York Giants

Candidates to be flexed: Atlanta at Houston, Detroit at New Orleans, Kansas City at Chicago

Week 14 - won't be flexed (NYG at DAL)
CBS - Oakland at Green Bay or Buffalo at San Diego
FOX - lol Fox's slate is horrendous this week. I'll be a homer and go Atlanta at Carolina (potential spoiler game)

Week 15 - won't be flexed (BAL at SD)
CBS - New York Jets at Philadelphia
FOX - Washington at New York Giants

Week 17

Candidates to be night game: Buffalo at New England, Detroit at Green Bay, Dallas at New York Giants, San Diego at Oakland

The worst part of this injury is that is another new body part. He has hurt his shoulder, knee, ankle, and arguably his none throwing hand. It feels bad man. And he even got that monster $40 million guaranteed before the rookie cap. I fear he really is made of glass and I will have to continue beating up children for making fun of the Lions

The networks sure do love the NFC East

Jets and Pats draw ratings i suppose. The hate drives people to want to see them lose. And then the dedicated/casual fans watch because they love their teams or hear about these Thomas Brady and Rex Ryan fellas

It's not so much them as who they're playing, two NY games, Dallas, and the Cheatriots, all big TV markets.

Giants practice update:

NYPost_Schwartz Paul Schwartz
Coughlin says all players on injury report will practice except for Henry Hynoski. #nyg

Word is Tuck is probable to play on Sunday but will be coming in as part of the rotation and will take limited snaps to keep him fresh and work him in slow.

Also, gotta love Coughlin's mentality when asked about playing a winless team.
