Nova proud!

3 PM. Coffee time!

We used to have 3 PM Flavia time with sports trivia every day I worked at ESPN. It was kinda cool.

Good luck catching anyone with this

Shootings will still be happening they will wonder why.

If you catch even one person trying to buy a gun that shouldn't be able to, the law will be a success.

I guess we shouldn't bother with any gun control at all unless we go as far as literally purging every material used to create them and all knowledge involved in their creation from the Earth.

So what if the Nova player left early? That "earned a degree after 4 years, could also mean, "well he came back and got it eventually."

Not saying that, just thats not where the shooters are coming from. People with criminal histories arent anywhere near gun shows. Its not bad that this passed, it just doesnt make Washington any safer.

There isn't even a gun show loophole. The "loophole" is used gun sales from individuals which just so happens can occur at a gun show, in my backyard, on the internet, in an outhouse, etc. Background checks occur for all new handguns no matter where you buy them, because new guns can only be sold by an FFL.

A lot of misinformation about guns are out there. Gun show loop hole and assault rifles are the two most common.

If you have to get a background check to get a job in this country, why exactly shouldn't a background check be required to purchase a firearm?

It's not just criminals though. There should be restrictions for people with mental illness, etc.

Not understanding what you're getting at. It says any player that has spent four years in the program graduated. I don't see the relevance if he came back to get it or not. It's still a win, graduation rates for college athletes in major programs are pretty bad historically.

Nope. I don't have sleep issues. Wish I got to sleep more.

Just a bit of a health nut who tries to moderate most things I put into my body.

Speaking of healthy I am eating a lot of nuts these days and that shit supercharges your colon. A doctor told me they are good for your brain and memory but I have not seen any changes outside of the toilet bowl.

For you fatties I suggest you substitute your Doritos with some nuts. Almonds work too.

I think that you should have to take a test to own a firearm.

We have to take a test to drive a fucking car so I think something similar should be expected of owning a gun. Nothing crazy but enough so that you can prove you know how to operate it safely.

Also this is anecdotal but every fucking person I have met in PA that has a permit to carry a concealed weapon seems psychotic.

Taking a safety test isnt a bad idea, it still wont prevent anything though.

I always find it interesting that people argue against government assistance programs because they feel people are going to cheat the system and yet some of these same people are perfectly fine with trusting other people with firearms. I realize that's a strawman but a ex-Marine buddy of mine wholeheartedly believes this.

You seem awfully cynical about things cajunator. Sucks :(.

I trust people more with firearms than I do with them driving a car.

Ask him about his government assistance programs. You know, like the VA and the Post 9/11 GI Bill. Oh, and ask him if his medical percentage is actually legit.

Any regulation is going to be seen as the government wanting to disarm an angry public in the eyes of voters.

3 issues in politics nobody wants to support are gun laws, abortion, and social security reform even though they may be the 3 most important issues facing the nation.

The people who run on them almost never get elected and the party higher ups never want to back them.

Its why politicians always run on tax cuts or higher spending. They can go to the public and be ambiguous about their beliefs while not insulting anyone.

"We've raped liberty in the butt, why not also rape it in the mouth!" is a terrible argument.

I'm not sure if you're referring to me or not, so sorry if my assumption proves to be wrong. That's not really what I said. There is nothing restrictive about preventing death in this country. When you compare us to other nations that do have highly restrictive gun laws, it's a grim picture. We've talked about this before though.

He's furious with the VA currently, and I wouldn't be able to argue with him about that aspect. They seem largely inept and highly inefficient. He is paying more for healthcare now than he was (about 100 dollars more per month) because of the Affordable Care Act. Again practicality on an individual level I get it. Veterans largely get the shaft in this country in various ways. I don't know what medical percentage is though so I can't really comment on that :).

I trust people more with firearms than I do with them driving a car.

Interesting. Why? There are plenty of poor drivers in this country and I think it'd be good to have a driver's test every x amount of years. But I would think you'd trust them the same if it's the same people we're talking about in both cases :).

That was actually to bionic. Restricting access to one thing is not a good argument for restricting access to a whole other unrelated thing. If it were people wouldn't have a problem with voter id.

I don't know if that is true.

There are a lot of accidents and deaths every year due to firearms.

Isn't it possible that teaching people how to use and store their guns could possibly prevent some of them from happening?

Speaking of guns part of me thinks I should have one in the house in the event some Ravens player breaks in and is threatening my family, but I am even more worried about storing guns in the house with my kids. I am going to a gun range to shoot some large calibers (that was stolen from the Dark Tower) later this month. Should be fun.

It doesnt matter either way. This will get passed, more shootings will happen, and people will go back to asking why.
its not going to end.
