Hard to keep up with the speed guys if you fall too far behind though. That race earlier tonight on that Yoshi level (I think), me and Hito were the front two for most of the race and noone seemed really too close once we pulled away.
If you don't have a top speed higher than 3 you're going to have a really difficult time getting, holding, or building a lead. Once when trying out different variations I ran a 3.0 speed 4.0 accel loadout and kept getting second place consistently, then since somebody kept holding up stage selection I managed to duck out and switch back to my usual before the next race started. After that, I got 1st consistently rather easily against the same main opponents.
I let my younger brothers borrow my Wii U, so I won't be able to check it now. But I use the sail ship looking kart and the Rocket Bike, with the cloud gliders. When using the bike I go Rosalina, in the kart I go Mario or Mii. I cannot remember the name of both of the tire sets I use for each of them, but they both raise the acceleration pretty high. The top speed shouldn't be too bad on those set ups.
It is true, if you get too far behind a certain player, you aren't catching up. I remember this happening a few times when Bread cheated and used hacks. Conversely, I do not like losing my speed after getting hit by an item or falling off, I like instantly regaining my speed. Sure it is short term, but whatever, items are a factor in my decision and I seem to do well with these sets. Some of the stages seem better suited for top speed for sure though.
Jason looking flabby and sick

My psych professor's son was the green ranger on one of these shows. I do not remember which one, lol.
