Racism exists everywhere sure. Typical small farming towns in this country are tea party hot beds who would probably shit their pants of not white people moved into town. People who live in cities are multitudes more likely to be more accepting of new, alternate and foreign ideas and cultures. To deny otherwise is showing an absolute ignorance of the race issues in this country. It isn't shocking that if you encounter other cultures and peoples in your daily life that you are a more open and liberal person.
I guarantee without knowing which small town you are from that it voted overwhelmingly for Republicans and probably tea party folks in the 2012 elections.

barry sanders has also cursed your team. the curse will be extended by calvin johnson. two hall of famers whose careers were wasted in detroit. in a year and a half, kaepernick has 4 times as many playoff wins as the entire detroit lions franchise has had in the past 55 years. how can 1 franchise be so horrible for so long? i'm sorry you were cursed with this awful franchise kas.

I just find it funny that you basically are saying that you wanted cowboys to stay in Texas, then went into how there is an undercurrent of racism in smaller towns on the whole, not to mention pegging them as flyover country, and then turn around and eat a steak that was most likely raised in a small town by a rancher (basically a cowboy). Personally, I just took a laugh out of it. That is all.
As far as how people voted in my state/area, some teaparty people snuck in. Then when people figured out they are terrible politicians they got replaced. Some by Democrats. Besides, I don't really delve into politics unless I absolutely have to. It's truly a waste of time to argue over.

Lions especially need to be condemned for destroying Barry's will to keep playing and brainwashing him into retiring as a Lion rather than demand a trade to a contender. I can think of no bigger football-related injustice that didn't involve cameras or deer piss spray.

I have to agree with this. The man was a machine, and deserved a SB ring. But he was pretty much the only bright spot on the Lions for years, so Kudos to him for staying there and giving it his all.

Yah, I know. He played his heart out with Favre, and is the only reason we made the playoffs a couple years ago. But he's got one year left, then he will be free to go to where he thinks is best. I wouldn't be surprised actually if Zimmer and Spielman decided to let him leave to save cap space for signing more free agents after this season. We signed a decent RB this season to spend a year training up, and a new QB that should work out well. Combined with our youngish receiving core, it smells like Zimmer wants to start as fresh as possible while overhauling our godawful defense. He knew the Vikings would be a multi-year project, and his actions show that.
