Kurt Kittner was signed by the Steelers after the team learned that Charlie Batch would be out for the season.

And in case any of you missed it, or forgot...yesterday, at 9:16 PM:

Nothing, not even a third round rookie QB, can be worse than Kurt Kittner. Nothing.

Yes, it was the first preseason game and they didn't have him to a damned thing. They didn't even have him TRY to advance the ball. By the third preseason game, he'll play one series again. Maybe he'll play half a quarter in the second game.

And then by week 2 of the regular season, his leg will fall off after not having been used.

Vick has great talent, but everybody being too scared to get him hurt will end up getting him hurt.

Everything will be fine once the season starts. A couple of series is all he needs in preseason anyway. There's no need to risk him getting hurt for games that don't count, like last season.

EDIT:Archaix, be glad it's Kittner instead of Doug Johnson.

I disagree(On both counts, interestingly enough). A few months ago, I was defending Vick saying that he will have a Super Bowl won within a few years once he gets just one offensive weapon(We'll see if Price pans out or not). Now, I'm saying he's being handled too carefully. I don't think we can assume he'll be ready once the season starts. I think there's a very good chance that once the season starts, he'll go down. Whether it's a meaningless game or not, if he isn't back to game shape he'll get hurt.

Vick is injury prone until he proves otherwise in my book. That injury last year was supposed to keep him out a month, miss 4 games at most. He ended up missing all but four. That's not exactly great news for how strong his body may really be. And if they keep protecting him in the preseason in ways they won't during the regular season, he'll never be ready.

As for Kittner, he had the worst QB rating of any player last year. Thirty two point five. If you spike the ball every single play, you get about a 49 rating. I'll repeat what I said earlier. Nothing is worse than Kittner.

Im listening to the field pass, eagles starters werent all that great. In their defense Andy Reid said they would be running the plays they had problems with in camp. Someone on the eagles message board summed up the eagles first team performance for us.

"D. McNabb passes to T. Owens for __ yards

B. Westbrook right tackle for __ yards

incomplete pass to T. Pinkston

D. McNabb passes to T. Owens for __ yards

D. McNabb passes to B. Westbrook for __ yards

incomplete pass to T. Pinkston"

It still amazes me how the eagles can have a player carted off to the locker room every other play while the patriots havent had a single injury. Maybe our trainers just suck.

yeah i heard matt ware was carted off but the xrays on him are negative so thats good news. jamaal green got hurt again. we just need to keep our fingers crossed...we cant go thru the injury bug again this season like we did last yr.

Yeah dude Dayne looked like a different person, he's lost a lot of weight.

Eli looked extremely sharp tonight, even with a leaky OL. I will post a detailed evaluation of his play in tonight's exhibition game against the Chiefs sometime tomorrow. His subtle play fake on Dayne's TD run was a thing of beauty.

7-13 for 91 yards (with the 2nd/3rd team WRs)

Kittner's just a body for camp. I'm willing to bet this means Tommy, Ben, and St. Pierre are the three guys that make the team, and that probably will be the order they appear on the depth chart once the season starts. It's good news, bad news. The bad is that they have to blow a million bucks on Batch for nothing this season, but the good is that it most likely (I hope) means Ben sees more time in preaseason games....which, hopefully, accelerates his move up the ladder.

Manning shows more than his numbers can tell

"I think the guy's going to be a great player," said Kansas City defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham. "He throws a great ball, and he acts like he's been there before."

Whoo hoooo! Steelers
preseason
football!

Hah hah! Double victory! Steelers are preempting Big Brother and the Amazing Race. Die, reality TV!

can't wait to see Roethlisberger play, to see whether Wisenhunt is near competent at offensive coordinator, and to see whether Ricardo Coughlee can play yet (or if Willy Williams can still play).

Also, the Lions have some great skill position players on offense. Loved watching Kevin Jones last year at Virginia Tech, I hope the kid has a good career. He was quite underrated in the draft, no way should he have risked dropping to the second round(And he definately shouldn't have been the third RB drafted...I'm looking at you, Cinci)

Goddamn Charles Rogers is awesome.

He was covered by Alonzo Jackson...a backup OLB who played defensive end in college. I'd hope he would make the catch :p

The Steelers are playing two backup corners, though. Their pass defense will be bad but not this bad.

They did that play last year, at least once(If I recall, they did it against Baltimore in the last game of the year). It isn't as though it is a surprise that the Steelers will do trick plays, it's just when.

Is Kevin Jones hurt or is he really this low on the depth chart? They haven't mentioned him on the radio broadcast I'm listening to(I'm not going to deal with the TV announcers).

So far all I can say is that it is going to be wonderful to have a quarterback who can move instead of one who is too damned quick to take off running. The Ben Roethlisberger era is gonna be sweet :p

Rogers looks nice, too bad Jones didnt play. Roy Williams didnt get one touch, and although Joey looked great... I was hoping for more than one series for him

Kevin was held out cause of soreness. They say he would've started but they want to kepp him fresh as possible.

Giants Scrubs > Chiefs scrubs.....

there is no more to see here

Hey don't spoil the fun! :) This year's Chiefs are nearly identical to last year's so there shouldn't be any major surprises for you. The Giants however totally overhauled their defensive unit and and did major retooling on offense so its interesting to see how they preform in game-like conditions.

I missed most of yesterdays KC-NYG game (thanks to shitty AvP) but it was impressive to see Eli's highlights and even more so to see this new version of Ron F'in' Dayne. Manning looks like he deserves a chance in the preseason to work with the first team offense to really show what he can do. Dayne looks like a completely new player and Coughlin may have just salvaged what has been wasted draft pick 'till this point. Even the O-line showed some flashes of being a competent unit, creating big holes on Dayne's 29 and 69 yard long TD runs.

Although it's only the preseaon, it's good to see the team unoffically snap their 8 game losing streak and remember what it's like to win again. Next stop on the G-Men Revival Tour, our old friend John Fox and his defending NFC champions. Should be another good test.

I've got to admit that Dayne impressed the hell out of me in that game.

Not because he did well and had a lot of yards, but he had a 60+ yard run. Last year, had Ron Dayne attempted to run 60 yards at one time, he'd take a nap at around yard 35.

Bah, Brian St Pierre is in instead of Roethlisberger(as I typed this sentence, he threw a great looking touchdown pass...but it's irrelevant. I don't care if they win, I just want to see more of Roethlisberger, maybe he'll stop overthrowing all his backup receivers who are only 5'10'').

Dude, the Cowboys were shutout by the Texans. How do you think he looked?

edit: Although, I suppose that's likely more of a tell on how Henson/Romo played, they probably played more than Testaverde.

putting too much stock in pre season again? dont fall victim to the lameness of the pre season. it indicates nothing for the reg season.

Great OT win by the Panthers against the 'Skins, 23-20. Rod Rutherford looked really good.

BTW, the man who really looked good? USC WR Keary Colbert. His statline was fucking amazing: 3 rec, 131 yds, 2 TDs. The kid is AMAZING.

he isnt pulling on the facemask...just blinding him.

He's clearly grabbing the facemask(his left hand is grasping the lower portion) and falling in a different direction than the ballcarrier though. Somehow I doubt that he didn't tug on it at all while falling. Whether intentional or not, that's got to be a facemask. You can tell that his head is turned in an unnatural way in that shot.

Somehow this wasnt a penalty.

Another display of panthers greatness is how they use footage of the championship game to show how the illegal contact rule should be enforced. No more free piggyback rides for the panthers.

please i dont want to relive that moment...with that late cheap hit the eagles lost the game as mcnabb had to sit out. i was shocked nothing was called on that.

omfg, just let it go. He was already in the air when the whistle was blown, it's been explained over and over again. The only people who believe it was a late hit are *gasp* Eagles fans.

he tripped and was on the ground when he was squashed. yeah i dont mind him going to touch up on the qb to make sure he is considered down but he didnt need to roll up on him like that.

Vick needs a better O-line....that O-line is Asstacular

It was 7 months ago, get over it, holy shit, Eagles fans. They lost. Big deal. It's a new year, and they have another shot at winning, just let it go.

umm we did let it go...but for him to complain about a no call on a face mask, which is hard to see anyway, in pre season is sort of zany.

Can someone make me a gif of Mike Rucker doing the X thing? It'd be much appreciated, I don't know how to do that kind of shit :p
