NFL Training Camp/Preseason Thread 2012 - A Farewell to snes :(

Ok, I finally set up the straggler's ff league. I'll give the people I pm'd 24 hours, then I'm posting the info in this thread. I hope we can fill it up.

Nice, I keep waiting to hear back from Rors for the auction league but if I dont hear back from him and you have an opening I would love to join.

Most people in the Commonwealth can't even properly pronounce JAGUAR correctly.

It's JAGWAR, not JAG-U-RR, just like's MEERRKUH, not AMERICA.

lol you need so many things before spending on a RB. If you were going to trade with anyone it should be for Revis. Gets some picks back and start rebuilding. This core of players reached its high water mark a few years ago
I want to see Greene catch the ball in play action some more but the Jets will draft a WR or RB 1st or second round next year.

I think I may sign up for the NFL coach camera video online because I really want to see Sanchez's receivers and the coverage that the giants gave them.

Our WRs are injured and there is no excuse for Patrick Turner being in the NFL.

FMT is just scurrd because he realizes Wilson is going to tear that Niners ass up for the next decade.

Bluemax, don't back down. While the media is slurping over Luck and RG3 Wilson will end up as the best pro QB out of this draft. He has a better arm than luck, can throw it deeper, is more mobile, and just as accurate. Smart as well. His only downside, the only one, is his height. Despite that he has one of the best balls batting down percentages in the nation. He finds the open lanes to throw the ball. He is great to elite at everything.

like i said, the seachickens have incompetent coaches. i'm not worried about russel wilson or any other qb on their roster.

and need i remind everyone that you said caleb hanie would be the truth? lolololllllllllllll

Yeah, just like no one knows the difference between Manchester United and West Bromwich Albion. How stupid does he think people are?

I mean, if you want an international fanbase, best of luck to you. But don't act like it's not painfully obvious to the most casual observer that the Jags aren't a premier team.

Coaches film is great. Been going back over a few Rams from last year. Not really useful since McDaniels is gone, but it's really interesting to see how little respect opponents had for the Rams WRs. Against GB the DBs essentially backpedal the entire second half. Hardly ever turn and run. You never see that stuff from broadcast angles

Uh most people in America wouldn't know the difference between Manchester United and West Brom...

His point makes sense. If the Jaguars start winning and are a playoff type team that doesn't help them sell shit in the USA because hey its Jacksonville. Internationally nobody really cares what city you're from as long as you're good and really marketable.

What did most Chinese people know about Houston? Probably nothing at all other than the fact that was where Yao played and thus they were Rockets fans.

And Russell Wilson has a new shoe deal with New Balance

Most everybody knows about Manchester United since they are huge all over the world. A better comparison would be between a decent team like Everton and West brom

Not huge enough to keep their stock from plummeting and crashing like a rock. Man Utd wasn't as big as they thought they were.

Eh the stock offering wasn't so much a question of size as people weren't stupid enough to buy the Glazer family's bullshit.

A good amount of the money that the IPO earned was going straight to the Glazers' pockets (instead of actually investing in the team or paying back any of that debt that the Glazers laid on United when they bought the team). So basically buying Manchester United stock meant...paying for Josh Freeman's taco buffet. And no voting rights, WTF?

Horseshit.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Maurice Jones-Drew's holdout appears far from over.

His agent, Adisa Bakari, told The Associated Press on Tuesday that the Jacksonville Jaguars running back is upset with owner Shad Khan's recent public comments about his client's 27-day holdout.

In light of Khan's remarks, Jones-Drew is also now open to being traded, sources close to the situation told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

"Maurice wants to play for an organization that wants him and for an owner who respects him and values what he brings to a team -- on the field, in the locker room and in the community," Bakari said.

When asked Tuesday whether he would trade Jones-Drew, Khan said he is "not going to get into all the theses and hypotheses." Khan added that Jones-Drew is "a great player, and we would love for him to be back."

Last week, however, Khan said MJD's absence "doesn't even move the needle" in terms of stress. Khan reiterated his stance Tuesday by saying, "This is not a team about one person."

His message to Jones-Drew?

"Train's leaving the station. Run, get on it," Khan said.

Bakari made it clear that those statements don't sit well with Jacksonville's biggest star.

"Obviously, he's not happy that what started as a very cordial and private conversation is now public and contentious," Bakari said.

Now, with both sides seemingly digging their heels in as deeply as possibly, it is unclear when or if Jones-Drew will show up in Jacksonville. The Jaguars open the season Sept. 9 at Minnesota.

Jones-Drew's holdout is fairly simple. He wants a new deal after leading the NFL with 1,606 yards rushing last season. He has two years remaining on a five-year, front-loaded contract worth $31 million. He is scheduled to make $4.45 million this season and $4.95 million in 2013.

Khan and general manager Gene Smith insist they have no plans to negotiate a new deal with MJD, not wanting to set a precedent of paying players with two years remaining on lucrative deals that included large signing bonuses.

Jones-Drew skipped the team's entire offseason workout program, including a mandatory, three-day minicamp last month. If new coach Mike Mularkey is fining Jones-Drew the maximum allowed under the collective bargaining agreement -- $20,000 for each day of minicamp and $30,000 for each day since training camp opened -- the total is up to $870,000.

Mularkey said Tuesday he has had no recent contact with Jones-Drew or his agent.

Coming off a career year, Jones-Drew wants to be one of the NFL's highest-paid backs. His average salary per year ranks behind Minnesota's Adrian Peterson, Tennessee's Chris Johnson, Philadelphia's LeSean McCoy, Houston's Arian Foster, St. Louis' Steven Jackson, Carolina's DeAngelo Williams and Seattle's Marshawn Lynch.

Both sides have valid arguments.

Jones-Drew signed his deal in 2009, before rushing for at least 1,300 yards in three consecutive seasons. Not only has he seemingly outperformed his contract, MJD is the face of the franchise and probably the only player on the roster known outside small-market Jacksonville.

The Jaguars, meanwhile, paid him based on the expectation that he would flourish as a starter after spending the first three years of his career splitting carries with Fred Taylor. The team isn't enamored with paying a running back into his 30s, especially one who takes as many pounding hits as Jones-Drew does. Plus, the Jaguars have missed the playoffs in each of his three seasons as the starter.

Jones-Drew is entering his seventh season. He has 6,854 yards rushing, 2,473 yards receiving and 74 total touchdowns. He carried a career-high 343 times last season, averaging 4.7 yards even though defenses knew he was the focal point of Jacksonville's offense.

Joe Philbin has to be the most boring person in the world.

As much as I hate the Jets, at least it was entertaining.

Fuck this, first Philbin preemptively blames all roster cuts on Jeff Ireland, then he's got to be put in his place by Reggie Bush. I'm not sure Philbin has the chops to be a hc.

i said this after the first episode i saw. dude just acts meek and should probably be a coordinator only
He's annoyingly up tight for being around a bunch if men that never really have to grow up. I get that they should act professional, but fuck he's such a tightwad.
He basically ruins this show single handedly....probably will do the same for his team. I just don't see how he's going to maintain moral if they drop some of their first games.

What percentage would you say black men being shot had to do with you not signing here?

Sloan was baiting his ass, though Sapp didn't seem into the interview to begin with.

I cannot stand Sloan either, but Sapp was totally talking out of his ass. Sapp brought it up, he should be able to speak intelligently about it.

That said, WLW is fucking unlistenable. Every person on that station is a full blown defective.

Yeah, they were both idiots, but I got a couple of laughs out of it.

Edit: Like the description of this second interview. Sapp acts psycho.

Tune in to that moron every day. From 7-12 and 3-6 it's nothing but essentially poorly done crank calls that play out just like that. Only difference is most of the time the people being interviewed are staffers affecting a voice.

Yep. Sloan never even mentioned the topic. Sapp threw it out as a reason he didn't come to the Bengals then got pissy when the facts of the shootings were argued. I agree the percentage question was just pushing him though. There were better ways to move the interview along.
