Wow... Even if we lose I am proud of the effort.

Why go for two? Now an FG only ties if steelers get a TD. Coughlin is worst coach in history.

i dont think the steelers can beat the colts, but they can beat the pats if they are at home. i could see them getting out of the afc so long as they dont face the colts and they get homefield.

That was a fun game - well played by the Giants. Fans gotta have hope after that. The playcalling wasn't anywhere near as offensive (in the bad sense) as it has been previously this season.

Still don't think Warner should have been benched though.

the real game is about to begin losers! go niners!!!!

I'd like to see the Niners win today. A two-game win streak will make next week's owning at the hands of Buffalo a lot easier to take for the fans. :D

Eli played well today....Ben was on and off, but was on when he needed to be again. Steeler D had more holes than Ricky William's shitty beard. They desperately need some bodies back on both sides of the ball. Tiki was playing well, they should have ran it on 3rd and 2 instead of having Eli take a shot down the field. Great play by old man Willie Williams there at the end.

As far as the AFC goes, personally I'm more worried about the Chargers. It's usually the unkown that bites the Steelers.

:lol!

They showed a graphic of who the Steelers have on the injury list. It was like five guys! For all the talk some of you guys do about the injuries I thought it'd be like 10 at least. Yeah Plax, Duce, and Bell hurt but it's clear that Duce can take his time and that with Polamalu playing as well as he has, Bell isn't missed as much. Plax missing is really hurting the offense tho.

The Steelers do have a lot of injuries and to key players at that. Two starting linebackers (Bell and Haggans) one of which is a pro bowler, a pro bowl nose tackle (Hampton), #2 cornerback (Scott), Duce, and Plaxico who opens up the whole offense. Oh yeah not to mention the starting guard (Simmons) who went out in the preseason. You, sir, are wrong.

Anyway, bad game today. Ben finally went over 300 yards but didn't look too great doing it a few times, and El, Hines, and the Bus stepped up to win the game. I don't know what the defense and coverage teams were doing, if they play like this against anyone in the playoffs they will lose.

Did you see the game? Did you see the graphic? It was five guys. How am I wrong when I am relaying what I saw?

And with only that many injuries you're still lucky. Some teams are just now getting guys back (pro-bowlers) they lost in the beginning of the season that actually mean a lot to their teams. Heap and Arrington, to name two. Not to mention guys like Priest Holmes and Jamal Lewis that are out now as well.

jamal lewis has been in and out for the ravens like karl malone on vanessa bryant.

but this steelers/giants game was a mess and the steelers just managed to pull away with the W. I don't think that means the team is in trouble, though, because even the best teams have a bad game, and even in a game this bad they still won.

From ESPN.com, this is the Steelers injury list:

Ainsley Battles, S Dec. 17 - I-R. 9/14 (Hamstring)
Brett Keisel, DE Dec. 17 - PROBABLE SAT. VS NYG. 12/14 (Hamstring)
Casey Hampton, DT Dec. 17 - I-R. 10/18 (Knee)
Chad Scott, CB Dec. 17 - OUT FOR REMAINDER OF SEASON. 10/18 (Knee)
Charlie Batch, QB Dec. 17 - I-R OUT FOR THE SEASON. 8/14 (Knee)
Clark Haggans, LB Dec. 17 - OUT 1-2 WEEKS. 12/13 (Groin)
Clint Kriewaldt, LB Dec. 17 - QUESTIONABLE SAT. VS NYG. 12/16 (Hamstring)
Duce Staley, RB Dec. 17 - DOUBTFUL SAT. VS NYG. 12/17 (Hamstring)
James Farrior, LB Dec. 17 - PROBABLE SAT. VS NYG. 12/15 (Shoulder)
Jay Riemersma, TE Dec. 17 - I-R. 12/7 (Ankle)
Kendall Simmons, OG Dec. 17 - I-R. OUT FOR THE SEASON. 8/19 (Knee)
Kendrell Bell, LB Dec. 17 - OUT 3-4 WEEKS. 11/23 (Groin)
Kendrick Clancy, NT Dec. 17 - OUT 4-5 WEEKS. 8/3 (Calf)
Plaxico Burress, WR Dec. 17 - OUT SAT. VS NYG. 12/17 (Hamstring)
Verron Haynes, RB Dec. 17 - QUESTIONABLE SAT. VS NYG. 12/13 (Knee)

Of those, the only people who played were Haynes, Farrior and Keisel. I didn't name everyone on the list before because players like Ainsley Battles aren't really very important to the team. Yes, the graphic, and you, were wrong. I've seen every game this year, and pretty much every game since I've been alive, so yes, I saw the game, and a few of my friends commented on the lack of a couple players on the list. Have you seen every Steelers game this year? Do you know which of those players are important to the team? I'd say Plex is almost as important to Ben as Heap is to Boller, but I haven't seen every game played by every team so I don't know who each team depends upon completely, and don't make comments that make it seem like that. But what's the point of this stupid argument? We'll see on the field who the best team and the team who battles injuries the best is, I don't know who it is right now, but we will see.

Looking at the list though, I can see where a lot of the special teams problems came from. Kiesel and Kriewaldt were really good on ST, and the people that had to start in place of injured players like James Harrison are too, so hopefully when they get healthy that area will improve again. I have to say Eli was way more impressive today than I'd ever seen him, which has to be nice for you Giants fans. He looks like he's going to be really good, just needs more time and a more consistent team.

man give me a break, don't whine about injuries. only i can whine about injuries

p.s. dorsey has played a good game except for 3 throws :( its alright, we're only down 2 scores, easy money in the 2nd half ladies!

The announcers (god awful as Simms is, they made some decent points) mentioned other injuries while the graphic was up, also.

The Steelers today were missing the following starters from the beginning of the season:
Staley(Who helps a ton in the passing game because Bettis can't block a parapalegic pass rusher)
Burress
Simmons
Maddox(Hey! It still counts)
Scott
Hampton
Bell
Haggans
Riemersma

Plus, a few backups are hurt (Batch and Logan come to mind).

It isn't even just the number, though 9 starters is a large number. Hampton is the best nose tackle in the league (granted, he's the best out of like 6 players, but he's still a damned good player), Burress is the team's deep threat, Simmons would help in pass protection, and Bell/Haggans add a lot of speed to the linebacking corps. The team may not be playing with more injuries than other teams in the league, but it's bullshit how much credit the Patriots have been getting for playing despite injuries.

Screw you. We've got that many defensive ends out for the season. [*]

* - May not literally be true, though it's not that far off...

[Edit: Five, actually. Five DEs on injured reserve.]

:lol

Aren't you a Jaguars fan, too? That'd mean you kicked out your top 2 DEs before the season started. That's gotta suck.

But even if you do have 5 on IR, that's still just two intended starters.

That's been the only saving grace for the Steelers, that the injuries haven't really ravaged every player at one or two positions. But the linebacking corp is starting to get hit a lil. With Haggans out today, Harrison did not have that great a game. And Alanzo Jackson playing in coverage didn't impress me at all.

with Polamalu playing as well as he has, Bell isn't missed as much.

What the hell does a guy playing well at safety have to do with Bell? Foote is Bell's replacement and he's adequate, but certainly not capable of making the explosive play like Bell can.

Yup. Douglas and Brackens gone before the season started. Barnes, Spicer, Cordova, Green and Meier on IR. I believe all of them were actually starting at the time they were injured. We're now starting this year's seventh round draft pick at LDE...

[Edit: For the record, the 7th rounder is putting up better numbers for us than Hugh Douglas is for the Eagles - looks like it wasn't that bad an idea to cut him after all...]

[Edit 2: And if it's injuries at every position you want, look no further than the Titans. Here's this week's injury report...

OUT
RB Chris Brown (Toe)
QB Steve McNair (Sternum)
CB Samari Rolle (Knee)
FS Lance Schulters (Foot)
CB Andre Woolfolk (Wrist)

QUESTIONABLE
OLB Rocky Boiman (Calf)
CB Rich Gardner (Toe)
DE Carlos Hall (Knee)
C Justin Hartwig (Finger)
DT Albert Haynesworth (Elbow)
T Brad Hopkins (Hand)
TE Erron Kinney (Ankle)
WR Derrick Mason (Ankle)
TE Shad Meier (Hip)
T Fred Miller (Ankle)
G Benji Olson (Toe)
LB Cody Spencer (Abdomen)]

Douglas was nothing but a canker on the Defensive line. He produced NOTHING for the Jags except possible Cap problems. But yeah, we need DEs, pretty soon people will figure out to run to the outside against us.

Hey, you don't have to tell me about the Titans injury problems. They were my preseason pick for the Super Bowl!( Granted, it wasn't at all a serious pick, but it was a pick nonetheless)

My point is just that one of the reasons cited for the Patriots beating the Steelers in the playoffs should they meet is because the Patriots had injuries last time, as though the Steelers didn't. They had Burress and Staley in that game, but they were still missing three defensive starters.

Amen. And it was TBrack's time to retire gracefully too. Who'd have known we'd get through so many DEs as soon as we got rid of the pair of them, though?

Paul Spicer should be looking to keep his spot on the team when he returns, but it's certainly still a position of need...

Can somebody get ahold of the producer for tonight's game and request that he demand the announcers not say the word "bang" any more in this broadcast? I believe they've hit their quota.

Hugh has played very little this season. I still think he can make an impact on defense. Look at what Trotter has done for us since he was put in the starting lineup.

Damn, the Steelers stunk up the joint today. Our defense has not played that well in 2 out of the last 3 weeks. We were getting raped on the blitz all day long. Ben had an off game as well. At least he was clutch in the last 18 minutes though. I was definitely worried both times the Giants took the lead. That bad throw by Manning at the end might have saved us. I am praying we can beat Baltimore next week and that the Jets can stop New England so we can shut everything down for 2 weeks and get healthty. Then again we already have the bye wrapped up, maybe that is enough time to get healthy.

Oh yeah, nice of Shockey to own me today. I call him the most overrated player in footabll and he picks this to be the week has a big game. :lol
