I wonder why Brady struggles so much against Miami? I was thinking it might because they play each other so much that they have a read on Brady. Who knows, but I wonder if other teams are going to start to copy what Miami did against the Pats.

The more I watch the replay of the Darius clothesline, the more I think his, "going to swat at the ball" line is bogus. IMO, he has plenty of time to recognize that the ball is nowhere near the same height as his arm. And his arm is in full clothesline form, there's no swatting motion or attempt at a swatting motion at all. And Del Rio's line about if he really wanted to kill him he'd do it with a launch move is kinda bogus too. Hey Jack, a real quick way to end a guy's career, or any semblence of a normal life, is to land a serious blow to his neck.

Does Baltimore have a good return game? I think again that will again be the weakest part of our team with the injuries. Since we didn't get a sack in the last 2 weeks I predict all of that will change this week when we get 3 against Boller to balance things out. I am afraid of that Ravens defense though. I don't think our conservative play calling is going to get it done, we will to air it out to give Bettis (or Staley if he plays) some room to run. The pass rush the Ravens have gotten over the last 2 weeks was ferocious, it is going to be a tough day for Ben. If we get 3 sacks against Boller I wouldn't be surprised to see 5 on Ben.

Still I hope we can just squeak out another close win and then shut it down and get healthy for the playoffs.

Sams has been hit and miss though he seems to be getting his groove back on returns... How is Pitts' return coverage? Does your kicker usually hang it up there? Boom it deep?

As for the Ravens pass rush, it'll start out great... the problem is that unless our offense moves the ball the defense will wear down, and by the middle of the 3rd quarter you'll really start to see them falling off...

EDIT:

Crap I forgot to comment on the loss! Before the game started I had a strong feeling Miami was gonna somehow manage a win... I was still surprised when I woke up though... morale victory or not, congrats to the Dolphins.

Guess where Terrell Owens is going to have his surgery?

"Baltimore's Mercy Medical Center tomorrow by Dr. Mark S. Myerson, the director of The Institute of Foot and Ankle Reconstruction at the hospital."

Ain't that some shit.

You do realize that other than the fact that the Phins suck this year, the Pats and Phins games are alway a great game to watch.

let me tell you something ladies, i GUARANTEE the niners will beat the pats in foxboro. i don't care whether they play their 2nd stringers, or whether homefield is on the line, we're taking that shit
Yeah right. The Niners have been taking it this season alright. :lol The worst team in the NFL managed to throw away a win against the Fins. I have no respect for a team that's so clearly taking a dive this season. :lol The only thing your bastards are taking is the #1 pick. Especially since the Fins learned how to win all of a sudden. PEACE.

BTW I forgot to comment on this the other night... kudos to Peyton for being classy and kneeling... any other time at that point in a game, 99.9% of the coaches in the league are going to tell you to kneel, take the win and go home.

Shame on the Colts fans for booing... that's some crazy shit.

Our kick game was total garbage last week. That was the main reason the Giants made a game of it. We gave up about 300 yards and a TD for our return game. :(

We were actually doing pretty well covering both kickoffs and punts before that Giants game though. Our kicker was pretty much garbage on kickoffs last week. There were 2 kicks that might not have crossed the 20 yard line.

Yeah I noticed the Ravens were not getting a push in the 4th quarter with their rush, but you can't expect to win the game on side of the ball every week. Unless the other team is hopeless they are bound to pick up a few blitzes anyways. It should be an interesting game. The Ravens are going to be desperate and we are going to want this game pretty badly as well because it will be a huge factor for the playoffs. Like I said before though, I am hoping that neither team comes out of the game with too many injuries. Someone ALWAYS gets injured when we play each other.

it the colts could get home field over the pats... oh, how sweet it would be.

That's still a fairly long shot at this point though. Because of the fact that NE beat the Colts in their meeting this year, Colts can't get it if the two finish with the same record. Colts would have to win their last two games, Pats would have to lose their last two. Not impossible, but it's not something I think I would put a whole lot of money on.

Edit: And that's just for getting a bye week, not homefield throughout. The Colts have even a longer road to capturing home field throughout. They would have to win their final two games, hope the Steelers and Pats lose their final two, and also hope that some of the teams the Steelers have beaten lose more than they win so the Colts can edge them in strength of victory percentage.

Texans still have an outside shot at the playoffs!

Texans win 2
Jacksonville loses 2
Baltimore loses 2
Denver loses 2
Buffalo loses 2
KC wins 2

I'm going to go through all the tiebreaker procedures later today, but I think I had them right.

Since Texans/Jags are in the same division, and Denver/KC are in the same division, division tiebreakers apply to them before throwing them in the wildcard mix.

If Texans win 2, and Jacksonville loses 2, that means that the Texans beat the Jags in week 16, putting the season series at 2-0 Texans. Texans move to the wild card contention.

If Denver loses 2, and KC wins 2, then it'd go all the way down the tiebreaker procedure to...

1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs).
2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.
3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.
4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
5. Strength of victory.

As it stands now... KC edges out Denver .560 to .429. If the same holds true after KC's 2 wins, and I don't think it'll change much...then KC advances to the wild card contention.

So, it remains
Texans
Bills
Chiefs
Ravens

(Note: If two clubs remain tied after third or other clubs are eliminated, tie breaker reverts to step 1 of applicable two-club format.)
1. Apply division tie breaker to eliminate all but the highest ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tie breaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two Wild-Card participants.
2. Head-to-head sweep. (Applicable only if one club has defeated each of the others or if one club has lost to each of the others.)
3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.

1 has already been done...
2 would not apply.
3...is where teams start getting knocked off.

Since Texans, Ravens, and Chiefs are all 5-5-0 in the conference, and Buffalo is 5-6...someone is about to get knocked off...

For this scenario to even come into play...we've already stated that
Houston wins 2, Baltimore loses 2, Chiefs win 2, and Buffalo loses 2.

This would put...
Houston at 7-5, KC at 7-5, Baltimore at 5-7, and Buffalo at 5-7.

This leaves Houston and KC.

Two Clubs
1. Head-to-head, if applicable.

Sep 26
Texans vs Chiefs
24-21

TEXANS ADVANCE!

Although there's about a 5% chance of this happening...there's still a chance!

Mig, you're hanging your playoff hopes on this:

Give it up. It's over even before we beat your asses this weekend.

you don't talk about ken dorsey that way! he is a winner and a champion. look at leftwich in his first 5 starts, what was his record? ken dorsey is 1-4, including 4 ROAD games!

byron leftwich was 1-4 in his first 5 starts as well. the difference being he had 3 HOME games and only 2 on the road. ken dorsey is going to win on sunday, and he's going to beat the defending world champs the sunday after that. you'll see buddy... you'll see!

Sorry, FMT. Dorsey's losing this week. Karma decrees that the 49ers will only beat the Arizona Cardinals and the New England Patriots this season.

Sounds like a fair bet to me. I'll sport your choice of 49ers avatar through to the end of the regular season if the 49ers win, with a Dorsey-lovin' tag. If the 49ers lose, you get my choice of Jaguars avatar through to the end of the regular season, with a tag singing the praises of Lord Byron. Deal?

Scary Euro Man
Well, I did say through to the end of the regular season, but that's only a week. Call it until the superbowl?

Not that I'd object too much to sporting a 49ers avatar anyway. I've got a lot of time for them, especially this year. ;)

apparently i can no longer read :(

until the superbowl is for creampuffs...

the loser sports it until after the PROBOWL! what say you now jaggy? too late to turn back now! hmmm, what 49er should you sport the rest of the year... dorsey mania, rat, kbar, engleberger with cheese, jpete... so many choices. maybe i will somehow come up with an avatar that incorporates all of your favorites :D

what the shit? as if the bills are some unstoppable juggernaut. dont forget drew be do be do is over the hill, willis "i need 40 rushes to get 100 yards" mcgahee wont be playing, and eric "hey i was good 4 years ago!" moulds can't do jack even against our 4th and 5th string DB's that are starting. you lose bills

Probowl sounds good to me. If you're taking requests I'd prefer to avoid an animated avatar (it's a religious thing) and Peterson hardly seems appropriate, given his weak-ass holding out and the injury that deprived him of most of the year's salary and kept him off the team. Still, it's your call.

As for the avatar that you'll most certainly be sporting until the day you see Big John Henderson, Marcus Stroud, Jimmy Smith and Rashean Mathis play for the victorious AFC team, I've always thought there wasn't enough kicker-love in the league, so I'm thinking a Josh Scobee avatar might be the way to go.
