mandatory practice before the playoffs would prob be a good idea going forward as we rarely have 5 on during the regular season. 2 or 3 scrimmages against the CPU would prob go a long way in helping us win in the playoffs, as at least it would give everyone a few games to shake the rust off and get a feel for playing with a full squad before the real thing
Thanks. I accepted your friend request and the team request. I will use #76 and I prefer RD but I can play LD, doesn't matter. My player name will be Radek Bonk.
I also bought an offensive D-man tuner pack to get my pro up to speed quicker.

I plan on playing tomorrow at some point, prob late afternoon into the evening, I'll message you for some club games if I ever see you online and playing NHL11
A few of us play almost everyday, peak hours where most people seem to be on and want to play are usually at night between 10pm-12am EST. It's been a little slow the past couple days after we took a tough loss that knocked us out of the November playoffs...

I will probably be on this afternoon, Thrashers play the Avs at 10PM so when that starts I'll be off. Plus got finals next week so I need to start studying
I'm finished for the night, goddamn goalies are at it again, pretty much every goal except one tonight was a puck that was right in front of the goalie and managed to trickle in or not be covered up for someone to come by and tap in
gg's everyone, congrats to new guy SCHUEY on getting his 1st goal

Also didn't help that I was lagging hardcore. Probably missed about every check I threw on D and I was sliding left and right like crazy. Guess everyone in my college neighborhood is downloading porn and studying for finals online.
nah that's our regular luck, I don't even call it "bad" anymore :lol

Hey I had a lot of hits that game , I think I got a couple of penalties because of demolishing someone that stepped in front of the guy I was planning to check, that counts as a goon winger right?
I guess I'll try to be on at around 11pm and see if its not too laggy to play. Last night though, fuckin' bad. Congrats to schuey for his first club goal.
gg's swim, new season started today, we got to team off to a 2-0-1 start. We had some smotherhing D out there today. Noticed that the club got a trophy on the club's main menu for finishing in the pro division last month
probably the only hardware we are ever gonna get...
swim, you gotta do me a favor and take more shots from the point, especially when it's just me and you playing. Try to skate it out towards the center a bit and look for my screens, there were a few times where you skated it right where you needed to be, but didn't pull the trigger and I had the goalie screened perfectly. Also pass back and forth between the defenseman if you don't have an open shooting lane. You tend to pass the puck then watch the offense go to work, when it's just us 2 you gotta call for the puck from the CPU when you see opportunities a little more than usual.
We lost that last game pretty much because the other team shadowed me off the puck denying me room for the entire 2nd and 3rd periods which should have given you a lot of breathing room to get some shots off. I need a little help from "Offensive Defenseman Knuckles Smith" when we play good teams.

I'm not very comfortable playing offense besides slappers from the point. I also don't like to feel like a puck hog so I prob don't take as many shots as I should. I guess that's the result I get from playing about 700 or so games of just defense. I thought in that last game we just couldn't penetrate the zone. I'll try to be more proactive on off.

Take the shots man. To quote Gretzky, "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take." Just get the puck on net. You make get a screen, deflection, or a rebound.
I'll be on after the Flyers miraculously comeback against the Bruins again...
yeah swim, like Marvie said, I'm not asking you to dangle or anything, just don't pass up an open shot from the point, you saw what happened today when you wound up a slapper, it went in. When we have 3, 4 or 5 people playing than you can focus solely on defensive, but when its me and you (like it is 90% of time) you gotta do a little more or else smart opponents are gonna swarm me and were gonna have to grind out 1-0 wins in OT. I don't want to sound like I'm pinning that last game on you, you played great, we just went up against a pretty good defensive team that shut me down completely.
I did realize something today tho, we really have to start dumping and chasing more, especially targeting CPU defensmen. If you can dump it down the side where the CPU defensman is, they almost always fumble the puck in the corner and then go into the offensive pinning against the boards animation. When that happens we have to swoop in there quickly and get right up behind them and poke check it out which should lead to some really good scoring chances.

Yes I agree with the dump and chase. Although its kinda hard to dump and chase with you since I don't have a mic. We could make up some pre-game stragedy to let each other know when to dump the puck. Maybe I can get a mic for Christmas :lol
Just be careful when they're actually covering the point. Seems like we give up breakaways because the puck gets held for too long of a windup. There's not always going to be time for a slapshot so a quick wrist shot will have to do. Thanks to EA's retarded puck bounces, those are prime for juicy rebounds.

for now the one thing we can do is to take note of how many human defensemen they have on the team select screen and which side(s) they are playing then specifically dump it to the cpu's side all game if there's only 1 human d-man. Most games when me and you play 2 on 2 its usually against 2 wingers so that side doesn't matter as much.

Sorry guys, awful night from me in the backend. Topped off with a disconnect in the 3rd game. It will be nice when I get to go home and not be on an internet where torrents are literally downloading and seeding 24/7 holy shit.
my wrist shot stats are shit with my defenseman build too, I don't put a single point into wrist shot acc or power, you're not shooting to score with wristers, just for rebounds or redirects

Good games last night. I got caught pinching a bit last night as well. I need to be ready just in case zsswimmer's shot is blocked and they get in behind me.

yeah yeah, internet problems huh, you're just rage quitting on us again
gg's tonight schuey, marvie & swim, our record is still looking good for the month 5-1-2

yeah you gotta constantly read the other d-man to make sure you are in good position, make sure if the puck is on your side that you are out near the wall for the outlet pass. If it's on the other side stay near the middle but try to move around a little to give our puckhandler a passing angle to you if possible.
pick your spots carefully for pinching as if you are too aggressive you're gonna get caught, and breakaway goals are almost guaranteed to go in if we are playing a half-decent team, it was an aberration that team's missed a few and penalty shots last night. That's why I kept asking you guys to stay back, we get enough crap goals scored against us as it is, we need to at least make other team's work a little for them.
Games like that piss me off. Right now my player has 95 wr power, 95 wr acc, 90+ off awa, and 95 strength yet I can't get anything in the net. Meanwhile, they get every halfassed shot past the goalie.

Yeah and I figured I would dump points into 99 discipline stats. Fat fucking joke that is, take as much if not more penalties than I already do. Gonna invest those points back into stick checking.

i keep my discipline at 90, I think it only matters for tripping and elbowing calls which I rarely ever get. You guys mostly get charging and slashing/high sticking calls which are usually your own fault. You gotta realize ur going to the box everytime when you do any one of the following:
1- take more than 2 strides at full speed before laying someone out with a body check, its charging every single time. This aint NHL94, that aint legal anymore.
2- stick lift from behind or an extreme side angle, u really gotta be facing the guy to get away with these, also doing 2 or more stick lifts back to back will usually get you 2 mins. You gotta pick your spots. I dont really even use it except on races to loose pucks where it works wonders
3-poke check from behind. You gotta deal with the fact that you have beaten and try to skate back into a better position before trying another poke check.
I bitch sometimes during game but 90% of the penalties we get are fair you just have to understand the how the rules are enforced by the game and adapt...

Charging seems entirely random. I'd say a majority of my hits have well over 2 full strides before contact. I know when to stick lift and sometimes I still get a penalty even though I'm standing right in front of the attacker. Same thing with pokecheck. I know other times there is justification, with things like slashing and tripping along with boarding. However, boarding seems random as well.

yeah there's def some randomness, but most of the charging calls I've seen seem legit to me. It's just that you, Marvie and Zaraki to a lesser extent are usually out for blood when we play trying to take people's heads off the entire game :lol
