You do realize that MLSE will block practically any team that tries to go in within the GTA or even the outlying areas?

Toronto OWNS Southern Ontario, and they will never let go of that monopoly.

the unfortunate thing is the stats agree with babcock

but polak has been horrid when leafs are losing
hunwick is horrid when leafs are tied

i say it's a statistical anomaly for a few reasons

they are put on the ice when Nylander/Matthews is on the ice, mostly. and those guys are really really good at possession and shots directed towards the net

Hunlak being on the ice are not contributing to this but being a beneficiary to this

so their fuckups are being disguised by the strong play of the forwards

i need to see how they're playing away from those players to be sure

Sneaking suspicion that PLD will never play center in the NHL. I guess we'll see when he gets traded to a winning team in the Q. He's been bitterly underwhelming so far.

For me, I'm kinda disappointed with Julien Gauthier's goal-scoring this year, though he already has more assists than he had all of last year, maybe he's focusing on a more complete game, I dunno.

And every time I look at Q league score, Val d'Or is always losing so maybe that has something to do with it.

Babcock bringing up corsi blew up my twitter feed, so that's always fun

with Marincin injured, Hunwick on the third pair is fine I guess. One can only hope Corrado gets a chance at the expense of Polak soon. Polak is a mess. idk if Frankie will be an upgrade but it's time let go of your safety net Babs.

"Extras" skate for the Rangers this morning, though at least a couple of these guys will be in the lineup tonight: McDonagh (flu), Skjei (still in full face cage), Nash (groin), Puempel (concussion), Clendening (AV), Zuccarello (???), Lundqvist (dun dun dunnnn)

EDIT: And now Raanta is out there.

Should they have let Gallant really fail before firing him? Sure it would've been better for the optics and at least have had an outside coach come in and not the GM. They aren't helping but let's not pretend CDN hockey media doesn't have to twist themselves into knots to say something positive about the team. Take drafting Barkov for example.

I think at the end of the day firing a successful coach is always a risky move. Replacing him yourself with worse results is makes it too easy for the media.

Exactly this and why I lamented the fact that it seems the Polak/Hunwick pairing is ALWAYS out there with the Matthews line. It's almost like Babcock knows those 2 D suck, so he puts them out there with the best forward line to pump up their sorry asses.

Unless of course MLSE has their hand in owning the second team as well (not directly obviously).

I could see Bell potentially selling its stake in MLSE and taking a controlling interest in the new team

it would no doubt make things easier for both companies, MLSE has to be a seriously challenging arrangement for them

Could somebody tell me why the Jets are playing one game in Vancouver on the 20th, taking a day off, and then playing another game in Vancouver on the 22nd?

Well, I'm glad I'm not how I used to be in caring too much about the Wings. Instead of caring about something I have no control in, I can concentrate on my own hockey play instead. All I'll say is that the team deserves this and I hope this will finally bring about the end of Holland and apparently this terrible coaching staff. Big changes are needed after years of over spending on garbage and not addressing the issues this team had and and they brought this upon themselves. /endrant

With that said, to all of CaliGAF in here, I've been out in Northern California (north of Sacramento) for most of the last two months for work and just got back from being out there for two weeks straight (I was out a few times before that too). Wow, it is absolutely beautiful out that way and I was able to make some trips to explore the area (even managed to go to Northern Lake Tahoe). I even brought all my hockey gear out and was able to show some of the guys a little bit of Michigan style hockey at a couple drop-ins at the local rink. Overall though, I had a great time out that way and once again, that area is just beautiful with all the mountains, I'll probably be out that way soon for work again.

I remember you posted a video of yourself playing where you screamed "Woo" or something after every goal. I bet you were fucking insufferable. 😉
