Dude just wants an NHL starting job after dominating the SEL for two seasons.

... and the cash that comes with it...

LET'S GIVE HIM SCHNEIDER MONEY!
The very idea that the Ducks would have two starting goaltenders in one city... the Anaheim media would be stirred into a frenzy! Possibly one nay TWO articles written!

If the playoffs started today, every Northeast team (Boston 2nd seed, Toronto 4th seed, Ottawa 5th seed, Montreal 7th seed) aside from Buffalo would be in. Dat close division. I think Boston has the division locked up, but second place in it is wide open.

In an effort to minimize the number of Maple Leaf fans at Ottawa Senators home games, the Senators recently sent an email to season-ticket holders.

The message told Senators subscribers they could get first dibs on additional tickets to Leaf games in Ottawa at a 20 per cent discount. But the access and price reduction came with a catch.

“We are asking you to ensure that the tickets are used by Senators fans and not re-sold to the general public,” the email said. “Any seats being re-sold will be subject to cancellation and loss of privileges with respect to future additional ticket pre-sales.”

The thrust of the campaign, the email later summarized, was to “not allow (tickets) to get into the hands of fans for our rivals.”

Now before Cake Boss comes in here and flips a table; yes the article itself is absolutely terrible. Feschuk every so often puts out a good article...but it's very rare.

This is also the guy who went to James Reimer's mom last year to ask if he had a concussion.

There will many jokes made at our expense and I am sure some will be deserved, but Leafs games have become notorious for some of the obnoxious and drunken behaviour from Leafs fans who attend. There will always be someone who will need a police escort out of the building without fail. Not even games against the Habs get this bad.

There is also a self-perpetual effect at play here : Leafs fans come to SBP and are rowdy and disruptive to the point that it is no longer enjoyable for some of the season ticket holders to come to the game. So they sell their tickets and more Leafs fans snatch them up, thus more discouragement and selling or giving away of tickets.

I dont give a shit, Sens fans need to stop being pussys and go to the games drunk and loud, thats how the game should be, the arena shouldnt sound like a ballerina recital.

If the arena was actually built in the city its named after and not in the middle of fucking no where, I would go to more games, and know people who would do as well.

I went to both playoff games last year and it was like being in a completly different arena or city before, I looked around and it was mostly due to the fans looking under 30 years old and could actually cheer and have a good time, not the same boring ass government crowd that leave in the 3rd period and the biggest sound they make is forced silent fart. I think once this organizations fanbase grows up and could afford to go games on nightly basis it would be better.

Jarmo is responsible for a LOT of the Blues awesome draft picks.

Also the sens one, picked up Hossa, Havlat, Emery etc.

I was hoping they will hire Burke just so he could use his other 2 1st rounders to move up and pick Drouin while using his own pick on Mckinnon, just like what he did in Van with the Sedins.

That's alright. We need less home games anyway.

He wants something like 25m/5 years and while I think he's worth it because of what I've seen I can understand hesitation over the fact that he doesn't have too many years under his belt. I could totally see a team pay him that though and they would be no lesser off for it.

Why do you think he's worth it out of curiosity? My friend has been arguing and pissed that colorado hasn't signed him but I think it's better. He isn't a stud, he hasn't proven jackshit and you have enough overvalued contracts for players who underperform. His three years are 8G 18A, 13G 13A, and 18G 37A, the last of which is after being on the top line. Nothing about those numbers gets me anywhere in the ballpark of 25mil for 5 years, I just don't see it.

Sounds like your season ticket holders need a little more dedication.

You know what I never see when I go to Ottawa? People wearing Sens gear.

Because A) he was very consistent last year even competing with top players every time we faced them. B) Taken last year into account, that there was no falloff in performance, he was our best player by miles. C) If it wasn't for PHX we wouldn't even reach the cap floor this year w/o his contract. We have money to spend. Stastny never impressed me nearly enough to justify his contract, O'Reilly has. I'm not sure what the fuck is going on with Jones but I'm willing to give him some time to figure shit out before I'll call it a bust. Players around the league agree that O'Reilly is a top 5 defensive center. Stastny was never revered as anything close to that, he had a ton of talent around his early years to make him look much better than he is. The O'Reilly situation is not the same.

Bullshit, Landy was easily the best player last year. And the rest I guess we just have to agree to disagree, I'm disgusted by the contracts that managements has given out and the production yielded so maybe it's part of why I hate it. But at 5yr 25mil he has a contract at least a 1yr+ longer than jones and Parenteau who were just signed and making at least a million more. Jones, Parenteau, Duchene, and Landeskog have all outperformed him in the last 3 years, would make at least a million less than him and have 2-4 years of contract time including this season.

I just can't see where he can say he's better than all of them after they all have significantly better stats over the 3 yrs and are making less and have shorter contracts. O'Reilley just comes off as greedy as fuck and I think it's better to drop him than put up with him. Especially with the other primadonnas that ask for trades out of colorado, how do you know he won't do that in a year or two? He's already crying for a trade now, you think he's going to bust his ass after how bad the team is and he got his payday? I'm just not seeing it, and it's a ridiculous evaluation of him and what he's shown so far. And as much as you have room to spend, I'd rather make a ridiculous offer on a higher tier free agent than blow 5 mil on O'Reilly. Extra money shouldn't be an excuse for making bad signings, I like him but he has to come down from 25mil/5yrs, that's insane.

I'm not just taking offensive statistics into account for a defense first center. That seems to be what you're doing. Landy had a great year but he had none of the faceoff responsibilities as O'Reilly did and definitely did not have the PK responsibilities O'Reilly had. Landy was also able to catch teams underestimating him for most of the year. Without both of them we're a complete joke, without O'Reilly we're just much worse off. We're fucking 29th and you're going to tell me that the extra 2m per year for a guy who would instantly improve this team in every capacity isn't worth it? Beggars can't be choosers. Would 5m/25y be better spent on another player in the league? Yes. Do you see any of those players around just waiting to be scooped up?

Edited: Oh sorry, we're in 28th now.

Interesting choice for the Columbus Blue Jackets GM.. Should be interesting to follow.

Blue Jackets to win a cup before Canucks do

I'm furiously looking for updates that says Markstrom is called up :/ None yet I'm still hoping.

Clemmer is just so freaking bad. He can't hold onto a puck for the life of him. He literally only holds onto maybe 1/5 of the shots that reach his glove. Aggravating when Holtby on the other side is crazy with his glove. Secondly it is like he has no idea where the puck is and is going. He just flops often with his back to the puck. Theo when he makes saves looks confident and well positioned. Clemmer does none of that. It was a typical Clemmer game in that sense, early goal and he lets in multiple in a few minutes.

Positives are Kulikov being a beast and starting to push his offensive talent. He was great on the PP, he just needs to err on the cautious side on those outlet passes.

Also the 2nd line of Huby-Shore-Mueller was amazing. They combines for 6 pts (3-3) and were combined for a +6 (1-3-2) rating. No complaints there.

Top line however is the opposite. Steeg has flat out said he is not in shape, and I suspect the same of well tanned Weiss. Simply unacceptable.

We're a quarter in the season and should be much better in the standings that this. There have been easily winnable games tossed. Call up Markstrom, if anything to light a fire under the two goalies.

reshuffling the lines at practice yesterday for Capuano

Moulson – Tavares – Boyes
Bailey – Nielsen – Okposo
Grabner – Aucoin – McDonald (Reasoner)
Ullstrom – Cizikas – Martin (Boulton)

Demoting Grabner and keeping terrible bust Okposo on the 2-line? Not good.

And everybody's saying it so I should too, its time to bring up Nino.

Sorry if this was posted!

http://www.thestar.com/sports/leafs...ish_his_career_in_toronto_his_agent_says.html

Phil Kessel wants to be a Maple Leaf for life.

So says his agent, Wade Arnott, who went on Toronto radio Wednesday to say so.
“Phil (Kessel) is still a really young man,” Arnott told the SportsNet Fan590. “He really enjoys living in Toronto and playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

“This young man lives and breathes hockey. He was very excited to come here four years ago. I think if you asked Phil today, he’d love to finish his career here in Toronto. But it’s still young in his career right now.”

It's nice to know he's not automatically going to walk

St. Louis is still losing and playing terrible and Detroit is on a 3 game streak, history tells us that Detroit wants to help St. Louis break that streak but they better not!!

He is a stud, works really hard both ways. He was FIRST in league in takeaways last year.25 in 5 is high, But I could see him being worth 4 at the very least. They really need him. Would love for him to take Hawks 2 C spot.

Did you expect him to say anything different?

He didn't have to say anything. There's a lot of talk in Toronto right now as to whether we should trade Kessel before his contract is up in case he walks and we're left holding the bag. It's nice to hear that he's apparently more than open to the idea of staying.

Contrast that with the situation in Anaheim right now with Perry and Getzlaf.

They're also starting a rookie goalie tonight... So that means Blues shutout victory.

PS - I can finally post form work again! Hooray! We'll see how long it lasts this time.

Fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkk

Maybe Colborne, Ashton, D'amigo, or Abbot called up. Probably not, mcclement will take spot on 3rd line.

I think there'll be a Marlies call up. If they slot McClement on the 3rd line, they'd have to dress Brown. I don't think we need to roll with that much muscle.

Call up connolly, he's been ripping it up in the A with 5 pts in 9 games!

This all comes back to one this:

/depth

We dont have current goal scoring depth :(

All our forward prospects arent ready yet for the nhl. Colborne is probably the closest but he has to be able to keep up his current pace for the rest in the A to show he can play at a higher level.

Pretty sad to be faced with a "must-win" this early in the season, but this 5 game skid is making tomorrow's game against the Rangers seem like exactly that.
