There was some back and forth. MacKinnon had a very good Memorial Cup, no less against Jones, and became the favoured #1 weeks before the draft.

There'sa good smelly to draft this year
I haven't followed it that closely but it kind of reminds me of the 2011 draft. There is a clearish half a dozen players or so at the very top but after that it is a shotgun blast of players on a similar tier.
One of those things that nobody really noticed until he didn't come back for the next period. Not something super major, but enough to keep him out a couple weeks and let Hank have a chance to work out his issues.
