They were using the funds for managing the arena for other purposes (paying off fortress)... which is against the contract
If glendale drops that nuke on the coyotes, and the coyotes attempt to sue... it's going to take a while and the outlook isn't looking good for them.
My bet is they'd cut their losses and run. Probably move to Quebec (since they could probably offer more money up front)
They just blame it all on the city on their way out of the door.

Seattle isn't really close on any front.
Vegas had a season ticket drive and Quebec will have their arena ready this fall.

What I don't really get is that if we're trying to get out of these expensive contracts, why would we take back Phaneuf or Kessel and their massive contracts? I could sort of understand taking Kadri, but taking back one of those two kind of defeats the purpose.
And the.Hurricanes desperately need offensive playmakers, so I highly doubt they'd take Phaneuf over Kessel or Kadri if this rumor is somehow real.
So it seems the reason glendale is pursuing this might have to do with a staffer called candace macleod, the glendale city auditor.
In April, an assistant auditor quit her job saying that candace adjusted her figures and made it seem different than her original findings. She then said there is likely a conflict of interest.
