at least you didn't fruitlessly trade away the 1st round pick you do have like the Pens and Perds...
The Penguins still have Perron. Even if it's a 15th overall or so pick, that's not bad value. But yeah, who knew.

Where will the Preds pick end up? 19th or so?

Oh that's true. Forgot he had a year left. Apparently the Preds' pick will fall somewhere 21-25 depending on how things shake out.

People may not realize this - but Franson is the only one of the top 5 D for NSH in the series with a CF% over 50%.

People may also assume he's getting far easier usage - he isn't.

Franson's TeamMate CF% is the 3rd lowest of any NSH D man... and the opposition percentages are basically the same for all of the D used.

Franson has 48.48% OZ starts.

re-sign him shanny

Yeah we're going to get a pick in that range.

Its not that big of a deal. We're not in need of much of anything except a star center that can win faceoffs and that's going to be difficult to come by no matter where you are drafting. Its a young team that's going to stay largely intact and what they really need more than anything, is more playoff experience so they don't completely melt down in the last 10 minutes of a deciding playoff game.

Yeah Preds are very good already. And when you have a good team with a goalie you can count on, that's a recipe for success.

Sucks they drew the Hawks in the 1st round but that's the central division for you.

Also the Hawks are probably going to get worse next year because of their cap situation.

Yeah that's a shocker. Did he ever go before? Lock out year? Must be chasing that triple gold club. ;)

Edit:
This marks Crosby's second ever appearance for Canada at the Worlds, with his first coming in 2006. He scored eight goals and eight assists in nine games for Canada at that tournament, earning the Best Forward award and a spot on the tournament All-Star Team.
Canada finished fourth at that tournament, losing to Finland in the bronze medal game.

Kind of surprising to be honest.

But it makes sense. He had a down year, probably wants to end his playing season on a high note with possibly leading them to gold before going home to train hard for next year.

I think both he and Stamkos have huge bounce-back years next season.

Stamkos would benefit greatly from a rejuvenated Lightning PP. They desperately need to do something about that.

Like, Ovechkin obviously had a great year, but if you compare his 5v5 production to Stamkos, Steve wins.
