Eh we can still take Richards at this point if prospects and picks were thrown in if Phaneuf went the other way.

I enjoyed Dreger's rapidly changing tune wrt to Nonis' future with the Leafs. From 'Nonis is a guy you want to keep around' to 'Leafs will be making changes and no one is safe.'

He lost Nonis as his leafs source, so now he has to use the guy who runs the Boiler Room at the ACC for any inside info on the leafs.

Hanifin seems like Ekblad 2.0
I mean it's unlikely he'll make the same kind of impact in the NHL right away (Ekblad was phenomenal), but they look like similar players, probably with similar upside. Hell, they even look alike.

Kessel would obviously garner a lot of interest, but at the same time I wouldn't be surprised if there's a few GM's who wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole with how he's been this season. It's not warranted, but you know there's GMs out there who are looking at him in a bad light now.
Agreed. And on the flipside, there are some GMs who will still appreciate what he brings, BUT will attempt to leverage his off-year by making lowball offers to pry him away for cheap.
In many ways, trading Kessel this summer could be a big mistake, but I'm just hoping the current management won't bite on anything prematurely.

I can believe Dreger. It's pretty obvious that Kessel isn't the type of player you build a championship team around. One dimensional isn't worth the salary so I can totally believe there's little interest. If a deal is made don't expect much, or expect a pretty bad contract in return.
The lack of depth at defense gives Phaneuf value but once again the contract is pretty ridiculous.

No kidding. Shultz has major defensive flaws, and it's nothing the Oilers taught him. He arrived that way.
Which makes me question the talent level right now at college hockey when he was considered one of the better players when he played there.
