Malkin's also takes him to 35. Crosby at 8 years would have taken him to just 33. So yeah, would have been much higher. Cap circumvention was a thing that happened.

And re-signing always comes with a hit compared to free agency. And you have to take into account the team's circumstances if you want to stick around, so no doubt Malkin took a minimal hit.

Both of their second contracts aka their first big contracts were 8.7 million cap hitz.

Soooo....

They have always taken discounts to allow room for a stronger team... and have 3 cups to show for it

EDIT: For the record, I don't think the new owner is wrong for getting rid of all he has, as much as the manner and timing in doing so.

I don't think Mike Smith and Shane Doan were the culprits behind the Coyotes being bottom tier for the last 5 years. I know that Doan is a 3rd liner now. Smith being traded is no biggie. Doan was dropped rather unceremoniously though considering his loyalty to the franchise. It was cold is all. Tippet not coming back isn't an issue if they are instilling a new play style and mentality. That's fine. I get that. Just the way Doan was shown the door was kinda, crappy.

It's not that they didn't renew Doan, it's how they did it.

Show a little respect to the face of your franchise for the last 20+ years. Meeting the guy at a coffee shop for 10 minutes to tell him this? Not letting Tipp be there?

And not one single person in the NHL would call Tipp a shit coach.

Tipp is long past his expiration date

Doan was told before the Smith trade and treated like a professional.

Not sure what you want dude, but this is a great day for Coyotes fans

Craig Morgan is also a complete fucking hack. That, also, is not new.

The Coyotes were low key a trash organization run by a bunch of Canadian clowns that had set up a country club atmosphere. They gave Tippett an extension he never, ever earned. They torched every local relationship they touched. The marketing was downright embarrassing.

Barroway is cleaning house and keeping the good parts like Chayka. Even if he has to flip the team a year from now, this is a good week.

I was more just poking fun of how you present arguments. You haven't really given any premises. Ask zroid for help.

McDavid would also be re-signing....

My argument is Crosby and Malkin took discounts... said discounts played a direct factor in winning cups.

And if you want to argue 8 years vs the 12 years.. use Geno: He signed under the 8 years and his hit is 9.5...all off 800k more than Crosby's 12 year.


McDavid wanting the full 14 million will make it harder to build a team around him.

I am now confused at what you are arguing.

Whatever dude. All the Canadian teams were in the lottery last year so there was extra hype around the draft in Canada.

6 Canadian teams drafted in the top 10 last year....dam son. Only returning Canadian team in top 10 is Canucks.

I just want the AGally drama to be over. Either keep him or trade him, but don't drag it out all summer.

If BargainBin has half a brain though I think he'd realize that Drouin and AGally on a line together could be magic and should give it a chance.

Sure, those future fans of whatever city the team is moving to.

I'm sure the phone is ringing off the hook for new season ticket holders and sponsors.

Everything is still a disaster in local politics around the team, the stadium deal is in complete limbo, the fan base that does exist continues to get smacked around... but sure, great day.

I don't see anything wrong with what the Coyotes have done recently. Doan obviously leveraged his status with the org/fan base in his last couple contract negotiations with the club. He's 'owed' jackshit.

His salt stinks of a guy who expected one more sweetheart contract.
