Ni No Kuni Collector's Edition for EU/NA [failure level well beyond critical mass]

Can someone state the full details of what happened in this epic fail tale? I got some scattered details but would like someone to put it in narrative form

If you ordered during Ninostarter & live in United States most people got the game.

People ordered after they re-started pre-orders again including Canada this time & most having problems.

I think that's the bulk of the problems.

I got a cancellation email to my spam folder, but the transaction is still pending. Anybody else with the same problem? I dont know if it means its cancelled or not.

Ok, searched the spam and is there since yesterday

Now at least i know i failed

DS version it is then :), they just lost a sale

-Club Namco takes a bunch of orders last year, closing orders in September.

- they announce they found a few extra and will take additional orders on Jan 17th. Orders go up, people place orders, orders stay up for ~2 hours which seems overly long.

- it becomes widely believed hey oversold on the 17th.

- lots of billing shenanigans ensue as they can't change payment information on an order once it's placed.

- orders start shipping, finally, on the 23rd in seeming random order.

- A ton of people get an email on the 23rd letting them know there was an issue with overselling, and their orders are going to be cancelled in the next 48 hours. Not just people from the 17th. They are given a 20 coupon for their troubles.

- cancellees call Digital River and are assured their orders are fine, the email was in error.

- supervisors eventually begin stating the cancellations are true.

- at 3 am on the 24th a link for the CE goes live on the website which anyone can use. Many do, using their 20 coupons from the earlier email.

- those orders go out on the 24th, while orders from the 17th and before still sit in process, awaiting cancellation. Random orders from the 17th have shipped, but it is not FIFO at all.

Finally got my shipping confirmation email about an hour ago. (Ordered on the 17th) Guess I'll check in the morning to see what progress was made with UPS.

It's not the same game, why wouldn't you just go out and get the standard one?

Because i somehow lost the desire to play the PS3 version

Why give my money to thieves ? They still have my cash, i dont respond well to fraud like that

I can do without their game for sure

thank ya, guvnah's. Very nice summaries

i mean how hard is it to call the place manufacturing these and getting a firm number on how many orders you can fulfill before you sell out

i mean, that basically seems like the smart thing to do since phones were invented back in the 1800s

Digital River's terribly built software meant old orders were randomly canceled, sometimes for no discernable reason, there is seemingly no rhyme or reason to how the 1/17 orders are canceled or fulfilled despite the fact they should've known they went overstock immediately and canceled by release, everyone has to wait until the day after release MINIMUM to know whether the order is coming for them or is canceled, Digital River starts saying those canceled emails were sent in error only for the game to pop back up on the site for people to buy through a sneaky link, DR CLAIMS those are being canceled but they're apparently being shipped out, and now Namco's having a give away on WEs when this mess hasn't been sorted out. Oh, and all orders seem to be shipped out at random, with shipping speed or time of order seemingly non-factors.

And I'm just touching the surface with a hastily written summary.

EDIT: Beaten pretty badly. But, yeah, it's a clusterfuck.

Also the 20$ is a joke, i dont want to order Ni no Kuni from them when i could get free shiping from Amazon and get it much later in a bargain price

Not that i am buying their game anymore, just saying

Huh? This doesn't make a lick of sense. Whichever version you order, Namco Bandai will still get your money. So who are you exactly standing up against?

Well, at this rate, I don't know if we will get it at a cheaper price unless you mean like 2 years down the line.

I just got a different cancellation email

The fact I'd be blaming Digital River more meant I'd still buy their game. But not right away, certainly not for full price anyway, and I'd have to be tempted on a damn good LE for Dark Souls II to bother with this again, and that's half loving the series and half because they'd probably make it console exclusive so I'd just day 1 the PC version digitally.

This all could have been easily prevented if they just stopped taking orders when they ran out of stock. Leaving it up for hours gave everyone hope that their order was fulfilled.

Right now they have my 120$ and i get no game

I dont want any other version, so normally they should not get my money at all, yet they never added them back to my bank account

I dont care if it is legal practice or not, as far as i am concerned i miss money for nothing

Not really, people who ordered within the first minute of the link going up have gotten cancellation notices

They're trying to backtrack and deleted the links to the Ni no Kuni regular and Wizard's Edition from the site so you can't even look at their item pages. However, the page is still up and read "In Stock" -still- about a few hours ago but was recently changed to OUT OF STOCK.

This is pretty blech, lol.

Edit:Actually though, if you log in, it says IN STOCK but if you log out it says OUT OF STOCK.

Just got off the phone with a Namco Bandai support guy. Was very kind and helpful as others have reported. All the information he could give me was that the order was still being processed and that I would be receiving an email once it has shipped.

This, of course, has comforted me in no way.
Remember when I said this less than a half hour ago?

Just got a cancellation notice! Woo-hoo! Time to pay them another phone call.

Just got my cancellation email. No offer of a $20 coupon either. I hope DR goes out of business and I hope Namco suffers for this as well.

I still don't have SHIT.

Not a confirmation.
Not a cancellation.
Not a label created.
Not a 'fuck you'.

The waiting.... she's the hardest part.

Not really, people who ordered within the first minute of the link going up have gotten cancellation notices
And that's not a guarantee either, as I ordered once it went up through a reload, and I got a shipping notice with "order completed" on the site. It really does seem like they just picked people at random on that day to fulfill orders for.

Yep. They start to send cancellation mails I got one:

I finally got my cancellation confirmation...

"Other"? Really? LOL.

The fact that they have to provide a valid reason and say "other" means that we can demand a copy imo

There is no physical disaster involved, they can just start printing extra copies and fullfill the orders as they ought to

What a colossal clusterfuck.
I mean, they even dicked over the dude with the Kodama avatar....
*click-lick-ick*

Hey Lucent, are we laughing yet?
More like crying...

Its not bad enough that I get one cancellation email, but I now get a 2nd cancellation email, same as the one you guys are just getting.

fuck off namco
