NieR: Automata |OT| "I wouldn't expect too much from this game if I were you."

Nier Automata has a better more flesh out story about FFXV than FFXV.

god it pisses me off how good FFXV could have been. So much potential, still really enjoyable, but man.

Also how do I use this scanner thing to find the units. Or if someone can just point me in right direction for this point in the game it would be appreciated. Don't want to wander around in this game.

Any advice on how to not fall asleep while playing this. The music makes me extremely drowsy. 😪😪😪
I think I had the exact same issue with first game.

The only way to see the true ending of this game is to fall asleep and be in your 7th nested dream.

Take the first step.

My wife hates it when I play games in front of her with lots of fan service or young girls in skimpy clothing...so a lot of Japanese games :p

Can I play this game in front of my wife?

Maybe let the wife play the game instead since she will be focusing on the combat rather than the clothing.

I may have missed it ,but has this game never climbed to the top of twitch home page ? :(

Did it not catch on like Nioh did ?

it seems like YT was right, there were too many games that released this year in addition to horizon and zelda and switch madness.

It should have released in January

Is it possible to do the opening on normal and then switch to hard? Will you miss out on any trophies or anything?

Watched a streamer replay that opening so many times on hard and I'd rather not go through thag.

You can switch at any time yes

I just beat the first boss in the desert, and I'm kinda shocked at how straightforward this game feels so far. The shmup genre blend at the beginning was the only thing that stands out as that weird Nier-ness so far.

Keep going. To begin with, playthrough A is the most pedestrian you'll feel

Automata is definitely more cautious in how it presents its weirdness. But it has an amazing sense of when it's starting to get boring, and the game changes accordingly. You'll see what I mean in the next area.

Never finished NieR but played both Drakengard 1 and 2 but damn NieR Automata is fucking fantastic. The storytelling and music is just on another damn level. This is just something special and I'm so damn glad that Square-Enix allowed this gem to come to fruition.

It's a slow burn. :)

Yeah, this was the first thing in the game that made me say "this is a Taro Yoko game all right" out loud.

And that music!

So, does this game look better on the Pro in comparison with the demo? It was a jaggy fest even on my Pro at least. Is this really running @ only 1080p on the Pro?

I'm a little bit concerned that
machines boning, going down on one another, rocking empty cribs, flailing on the ground like a baby, and then turning into a giant metal womb that gives birth to an androgynous naked man while chanting "this cannot continue"
does not clear the bar for "weirdness" for you :lol

How do you get different play throughs routes?

Is it like the first game where it's unavoidable and only done in NG+ modes, or is it determined by my choices?

For example,
I went to meet with Pascal's village after the Opera boss
. Did this change my ending?

I keep finding sidequests where the enemies are too strong for me and I die. Should I be a higher level? I'm level 13
about to go into a big hole in the ground.
Should sidequests just be saved for later?

Yeah, some of the sidequests will be way over your head. I remember taking on a level 50 quest enemy at level 20 or so, and the fight easily took 20+ minutes of nonstop beating on normal.

really didn't want to wait for the pc release so I went ahead and got the PS4 version. Watching the shoot-em-up sections on twitch just looked like too much fun. Plus I beat Zelda and don't feel bad putting it back in the case for now.

Spoiler, don't read unless you're past the submerged city:

Seing Devola and Popola back brought in the feels for me. Everything from the first one came back in a flash.

This is really really good. Can't believe I'm playing a sequel to Nier in 2017.

I finished the demo level and did the first two side quests. It's odd because I'm getting performance issues on pro that I wasn't getting on the demo, even in the same areas. So far I'm just trying to figure out what to do. The first area is nice to look at but seems extremely empty. Maybe it's just early.

If you kill a
non-hostile quest machine npc
by accident, do they respawn if you save and reload? Or do I need to reload my previous save? I'd have to redo an
escort quest

I went to get this at best buy today but it didn't seem to even have shelf space anywhere. The only games advertised in the new releases area were Ghost Recon, Zelda, and a few other Switch games. Is this not considered a big enough release or something?

Ended up going to gamestop for it.

Not big when comparing it to Switch and Zelda, no. There are just so many good releases right now it's on the lower end of things the majority are looking at. Even though it's right up there in quality.

Omg I'm holding my copy. Finally.

Guys are scaring me off the hard mode. I guess I'll play medium and bump it up later if needed.

The thing I was worried about was that taro wouldn't go fill taro. I haven't even finished a single ending
for reference I just fought the girl who kill the forest king... Holy shit that Emil cameo
but no, this is fully Yolo Taro and I couldn't be happier about it.

Picking it up this friday, should i play the game on normal or hard mode? Im a big fan of bayonetta/dmc games and want a nice challenge but not like too difficult if you know what i mean (for the 1st playthrough at least).
