Did you pick up the Fang of the Twins in the desert apartment complex? It's got the smallest damage variance and is fairly easy to upgrade early. I used it all the way through until my favorite became available.

No, must be a typo. Ingame, Pascals always referred to as him/he

Loving most of the tracks, not so fond of the alternate singer for some tracks since she has a bit of a weak voice, trouble holding the note.

Enemies seem to hit harder than they did in the demo, but yeah difficulty can be changed at any time.
