It's not about the achievements, it's about self-satisfaction and having funFor those playing on hard mode just know there are no difficulty achievements. So if you like dying a lot on the prologue kudos to you.

Umm when i said he sounds depressed i was talking about this:
Maybe "depressed" was a bit too harsh but he sounds like he lost his motivation.I haven't started Automata yet but i loved the first Nier so i also hope he continues to make games.
FUCK THIS FUCKING GAME!!!! I can't get past the first boss on normal, and get kicked back to the beginning because no save points. I've put in about 3 hours now. I get mauled bybefore I can even get to the boss.the two bucket digger things
And I beat the damn boss in the demo on my first try, so this is some BS. No save point before boss = shitty game design.
And don't tell me to git gud, dammit. I'm an old man!
Jesus Christ.
YT is about as cynical and depressed as Hideki anno when he created EoE, but it seems like YT has always been in a constant dark state of mind for a long time now.
Although it gives birth to great ideas, i actually really feel for him because living like that constantly feels like it can be soul crushingly pointless to feel no real hope in life

I wonder what percentage of players actually found the B Pod lol.
View of humanity is pretty represented in his games, but withI think his outlook might be more real and uplifting then you would expect.the ending of automata
I got Pod C on Route B. Was it possible to obtain it in Route A?
Never played the first Nier, don't really feel like playing an open world game, and this game looks intriguing. Is it worth the pick up? I dig the fast combat.
People can play it on w.e they prefer just trying to save the people still on the prologue some time. It's not about the achievements, it's about self-satisfaction and having fun

Found it by fluke, it's a nice feeling when that happens.I wonder what percentage of players actually found the B Pod lol.
This is not a typical open world game. You will appreciate the big areas though, coz traversal in this game feels like Sonic on acid and for my taste PG often had to small areas in their games.
I wouldn't really call it an open world game. There's a limited number of sidequests but not endless collectibles or checklists. You can slam from one plot mission to the next and do side stuff if you ever feel like slowing down a bit.
When I think of open world games, I think of dozens and dozens of shallow tasks to check off on a map. This reminds me more of a proper old schoolers console RPG where you can wander around but you pretty much know what you have to do at any given time.
Most of the interview comes across as simply realist, but the part about feeling like he's already accomplished his goal and is just working out of habit is pretty depressing.View of humanity is pretty represented in his games, but withI think his outlook might be more real and uplifting then you would expect.the ending of automata
Sounds perfect then! I'll give it a go tonight then. Thanks!
Just put it on easy or abuse healing. It's not worth tearing your hair out.
Coming from Bayonetta and DMC4, the combat feels a bit odd with an AI buddy, and the pod shooting is something I need to get used to (I keep forgetting that I can range attack enemies!).
How interesting does the combat get? I'm at the very beginning, just entering the desert, and so far it feels more mushy than Bayo, with a lack of incentive to play well (as opposed to just playing it safe and healing often) that feels odd in contrast to the pure character action games.
I'm aware that comparing this to Bayo is probably approaching it wrong, but stuff like weapon switching and the timed dodges promise a certain depth.

Being able to buy those big swords right at the beginning is hilarious, though. And great animations!
It really depends on the chips you use, you can customize how the combat goes to a really good degree. You can get Witch Time (Overclock chip), MGR's Parry (Counter), chips that add a energy wave from your swings (Shock Wave), increase the range of your evade, plus many more that you can experiment with.
The action game moves and controls are there, but it's all tweaked for an RPG so it's not going to directly compare to bayo as an action game. The intro makes it seem like that but the combat will mix it up and after that. There won't be orchestrated waves of enemies all the time.
It can be pretty complex if your looking for that, but its not how the gameplay was designed, it was more about getting in hits and balancing melee with ranged attacks than being a combo simulator like Platinum's other games.
This is a Yoko Taro game and an action RPG with Platinum flair, not a Platinum action game.
I have a lot of items that I have no idea what to do with, different kinds of ore, books, etc. How much of this stuff is safe to sell? I know some things say to just sell it, but I dunno if that the only things I should sell?

Don't sell any of your materials. Sometimes you'll be really tempted when you're in a pinch, but you'll regret it later when you need one more Rusty Fukwuzit for an upgrade and you don't know where to get it.
Thanks, that sounds good! I like that chip concept and hearing that there's a witch time equivalent is great.
Yeah, I definitely don't need DMC4-type depth in every action game, and having light Platinum combat mixed with a great RPG is something I've wanted for a long time.
Got the game on PC, haven't played NieR before. Got it based on how much I love Platinum's other games.
What's this bullshit about the intro though? Did the dumb little bullet hell segment, got to the actual melee combat portion, game told me to heavy attack with Y, and every time I attacked, I was damaged. Game wasn't giving me any other feedback. I have no idea why I was being damaged. Then I died, got taken back to the main menu, and now I have to do the whole bullet hell segment again?
What?
