I admit I'm still a little confused why the machines sent out a North Korean battalions worth of tanks to kill pascal and a few children bots. Maybe they were going after A2 instead idk but even that seemed way excessive.
Sent out? I thought they were just going berserk or something

Shinji did manage to genocide the human race before he called takebacksies, albeit with a lot of help.9S really gives me Shinji vibes at the end of it. Although he's a more efficient killer then Shinji.
It kind of sucks to be Sartre, though. He is surrounded by obsessive fans who continue to pine for his affection and harm themselves even when he makes it clear in no uncertain terms that he doesn't give a shit. It's not even like they don't know, because you tell them explicitly what Sartre thinks of their heartfelt gifts, and that just makes them love him more.
It's not like he's leading them on or playing with their feelings.
Imagine that in the process of going about your daily life, people spontaneously started eating human flesh to get your attention, and instead of questioning why those people would do such a thing, everyone just called you an evil scumbag. That would kind of suck.
All were missing is 2B running with toast.

tbh if taro did a straight up nier remaster and didnt MGS2 it and at the end of route A it goes "HAHA IT IS DIFFERENT GAME NOW" I would be disappointed
Man listening to a spoiler cast had no clue the deserter story went dark if you tell the person the truth.
What is this game lol. Sad I wiped my save. Guess I'll replay when the pc game is on sale later.
What are the most notable side quests for y'all?
oh yeah w/e happen to the red girl machine things?
Just seemed odd that they never really came back after they went to war with themselves lol.
Guess they are kinda mentioned in the 9S victory ending?
So is B-Mode basically useless?
Like the only time I ever bothered with it was that first bullshit bossfight in the desert and it didn't help at all
I thought engine blade was from the amnesia quest.Nice, figured there was something to it but never really felt the need to use it
Followup question, what weapons did she have when you first see her/briefly play as her to save 2B? Sword looked real cool (I think I might have it now but not totally sure)
Was hoping you'd get different gear for her but I get it
Either way I need to finish collecting weapons (dreading the engine sword from that fucking factory section. hate the factory, makes me nauseous playing it lol)
Google tells me it's in the Factory EscapeI thought engine blade was from the amnesia quest.

I did Amnesia earlier and I think I got a weapon from it but it was something else
It's has less scorn for its audience and less false symbolism so it's better actuallySo you guy are telling me that Automata is the Evangelion of video games? I can dig it![]()
when you go get the engine blade, do it in route C as 9S. there is a hack chest in the same room. Also the stampers are off during route C, so you cant accidentally get crushedGoogle tells me it's in the Factory Escape

I guess I didnt bother going that far, on the way to the engine blade room you dont ahve to worry. I turned around after that as it was my only goal for the moment.Only the first wave is off, the other one is malfunction and behaves very erratic
I must admit that during the final ending, I did neglect the "offer" several times, not knowing what it was but still wanting to force my way through the final challenge on my own. Then after several tries, thinking I was awful at it, I finally accepted the offer and saw what it meant.
Actually, I think it was the network messages encouraging me to not give up and that infectious music pushing me to keep trying. Well anyway, I figured it out. And I'm kinda happy I kept playing it because that amazing closing song had enough replay plays to seep into my soul.
Speaking of, that song is probably my favorite video game song since the Mirror's Edge theme some years ago.
The kamikaze bots were extremely unsettling with their screams.
Preach.
And I am definitely buying the soundtrack.

I don't really see E as a happy ending.
2B is still programmed to keep killing 9S, who has gone full Caim.
As far as I'm concerned, ending E is purely a happy ending. After all the tragedy its a sign of a new beginning and a new chance for the androids and machines. Humanity is completely irrelevant to this world now. Their extinction relinquished everything. And man, what a tragic story with just a sliver of hope. Even that sliver is weighted down by the fact that humanity is extinct in its entirety.
I don't really see E as a happy ending.
2B is still programmed to keep killing 9S, who has gone full Caim. The eternal war continues, now even more meaningless that there is no Bunker nor machine network. And the logic virus is still around.
And even robo-Manah and the network get denied the chance to find another home far in the space.
Edit: oh and Pascal is either dead or amnesic, selling parts of the children he used to take care of.
I don't know if I want to see Yoko Taro's take on anime girl running with toast in her mouth, given his track record with eating in his games.
That was my initial comparison as well, and it hasn't really left. On Hard, they are dangerous as fuck if they get close, but the Serious Sam amusement never really faded all that much.Maybe this is terrible of me, but I laughed at them the first time I encountered them. Reminded me of the enemies from Serious Sam.
Well, the 2B / 9S situation might improve as the very loss of the organizations they served might make 2B realize that she need not follow her orders, as the Pods clearly were able to go against their intended purpose, so there is no reason why she couldn't reason her way of it. 9S will likely calm down as well, as the focal point of his madness, losing 2B, is undone.I don't really see E as a happy ending.

I did mention all of the other tragedies. Why E itself is happy is because it twists all of the expectations back around the rest of the game set and showed the bots developing sentience and turning it into care. When I say purely happy I mean that there is nothing in E itself that is negative or bitter sweet. The bots do mention that they may just be making a mistake and perpetuating the cycle, but even Pod 042 says that he doesn't believe that will be the case.I'mma let you finish, but the world is in a post-apocolyptic state, humanity is dead, cities are in ruins, all of their commrades in arms are dead, they just found out their lives have been a lie, the androids are few in number, robots are still clearly unstable.
It's certainly not "purely" a happy ending at all. It's very happy for our protagonists, but the world is shit, the world they inherit is shit, and whether they area able to eek out a life for themselves that doesn't end in someone getting killed along the way is a matter of hope when looking at the long view. The prospects of peace seem low, suggesting a future where they will continue to have to fight to some degree.
I'm very damn happy our heroes survived and they'll have each other to get through whatever comes next (which is the best we can hope for). But it was the proverbial flower growing out of a pile of manure. lol.
What the fuck, I just read that your 1st playthrough movements as 2B get replicated when you play as 9S. Like when you're running to 9S after the Adam fight. Or the Eve fight when your NFCS shuts down.
If true, that is insanely cool. I should try running around in circles as 2B then replaying as 9S![]()

Is it really a thing? Haven't noticed myself but it explains "two lanes" in the alien mothership fight...
At the beginning of the game the initial startup of settings with 9S guiding you is recorded as well. So when you are playing as 9S the recording shown is exactly how you did it before. So if you take a while messing with the settings as 2B it is reflected in that video for 9S. Crazy stuff huh. What the fuck, I just read that your 1st playthrough movements as 2B get replicated when you play as 9S. Like when you're running to 9S after the Adam fight.
