Nintendo Announces Nintendo Alarmo

Nintendo knows that the majority of it's fans that would buy this sleep alone
Actually this goes against conventional wisdom as Nintendo is the family oriented system. Probably those who are into Xbox and Playstation and PC are more likely to sleep alone. LOL!!! JK

Looks cheap that you can see the square screen. Should have been a round
It's probably re-skinned for Nintendo's purpose. Probably can go into an electronics shop in Japan and find the unskinned version of the device easily. I doubt Nintendo built the hardware itself.

Family oriented in 1986, now its for autestic man-kids living with their moms

Hilarious. Insane. But there is a silver lining:

They're making this available to paid members via their online store which means it's POSSIBLE they could use a similar approach to mitigate scalping of the Switch 2 by having some stock reserved there... right guys? (wishful thinking)

This is niche. Still nice of them to think of those wanting it in time for Xmas. It will probably be out of gas by February/March. But they can control the narrative somewhat. They can even keep it out of the hands of retailers for the time being.
The Switch 2 is poised to be monstrous. With Nintendo boasting they are ramping up to have 10 million consoles ready at launch (if I am not mistaken). No way they only offer it to current users. There would be riots. (Slight exaggeration)

Bruh, this would just make me HATE Nintendo sounds. I will forever associate it with not getting enough sleep.
Thats the difference between adults and kids. A kid would probably be so excited to hear the sounds that they would stay awake waiting for the alarm to go off. Having the non-intended effect. LOL!!!
The idea that this thing sees you in bed and tries to placate you would drive me up the wall I suspect.

"Remember that time as a kid when your sibling woke you up with bleep and bloop sounds because they were playing NES at 7 in the morning?"

"We made an alarm clock that emulates this feeling."

Imagine that thing going wild with Mario sounds when you're having bed action.
Basically the first thing I said to my wife when I saw that it tracks your movements. "How noisy is it gonna be when you're banging?" I thought setting it to Metroid sounds made sense for women, but they're too lazy/cheap to put in a Metroid setting

laugh now but the nintendo fanboys will eat this up.

$100 for an alarm clock ROFL. Not as bad as selling cardboard but close.

For sure. But having that channel open to make sure current users can get their hands on one (or, more realistically, to incentivise scalpers to buy a sub, lol) wouldn't be a bad move.

Who the fuck wakes up like that. Regular, non ad-friendly safe actors, usually want to die at that moment. And no happy Nintendo sounds can increase your will to live.

look for signs of switch 2 tease like...

Don’t you see? This is the Nintendo Switch 2

More dogshit that will sell like hot cakes. The strategy no doubt, sell in limited quantities, sell out and idiots think they need this shit so they buy when back in stock. Rinse, repeat.

Why the anger, lol.

Nintendo are a toy company. The Switch is a toy you play games on to have fun.

So are the PS5 and Xbox X and S. That gaming PC too. Toys.

And there's nothing wrong with enjoying them as an adult.

My wife is talking about buying this. I'm going to talk her out of it. Nintendo music and sounds relate directly to warm, golden nostalgia for me. I don't want to hate them like any common Apple alarm tone. Me? I'm holding out for the Nintendo water flosser. I've always felt that even the most expensive WaterPik left a lot on the table. Nintendo will do it right.

Was kinda interested with it, until I saw the price.

Waking up to games song will make me hate the song. I tried using my favorite song as an alarm and later on I hate the song.

Yeah Nintendo are really leaning into a Disney-esque merchandise tat strategy. The Nintendo shop in Tokyo and museum is full of overpriced junk like this to sell to idiots.

Stick to games.

This is kind of hilarious, but very "Nintendo". Super weird, but admittedly kind of neat.

Price seems awfully steep, but this will probably be a pretty rare novelty in like 10 years I'd wager. And admittedly, I have a tendency to sleep through most alarm clocks, I'd genuinely be curious if I'd have any better luck with something like this.

I like Nintendo’s games but sometimes they invest on such pointless shit.

The novelty of this thing wouldn’t last a day.

If Nintendo were still innovative and savvy, the Alarmo would have been a core block clock, that you could then click external plastic housing to. Meaning you could make it look like a Mario head, or a koopa shell, or a Pokemon, whatever Nintendo character you want, depending on the two-piece housing you click onto it. Nintendo could still sell the core clock for $99.99 and have it come with a default housing. But then sell loads of external housings as separate items at $25 a pop. Easy money Nintendo left on the table.
