That worked a treat. The auto-registered Mario Kart gave me stars and the code on the digital receipt gave me the promotion code.
A little convoluted, but it all worked out well in the end.

Club Nintendo has generally been good about letting you make decisions later. But I can't answer this definitively.

It should show up in your to-do list if you close it. CN went down when I got to this step, which freaked me out, but a few hours later it was in my to-do list.

Finally was able to claim my free game today. Went with Wii U Party as I had everything else already.

Now I can log in to Club Nintendo and choose Pikmin 3 as my game, but can't complete the order as the page times out or I get that error message with Wario saving the coins. Will probably wait till later on next week to try now. It can wait. NoA should have been prepared for a lot of traffic to hit their servers for this promo. What a joke.

You don't get 10% back technically, you get $5 back after you spend $50. It does apply to the free game - so you'd get $5 automatically if you pick Pikmin or NSMBU because both are $59.99 (with some points towards the next $5), you're almost there if you pick WW (it's $49.99 so you only get 499 of the required 500 points) and you'd need to spend a little over $10 more if you pick Wii Party since it's $39.99.

Does anyone know if you can register two copies of this game for the promotion? I happened to end up with two copies, and I'll sell one used if I can register the second for another game download.

Finally got it to work last night around 2am pacific time. Be patient everyone. If you see coins going away or errors, they'll be there once the site is sorted out or not being hammered by people creating accounts and such. I got just about every error there was and its ALL there when it gets back to normal.

Hmmm, even though my confirmation seemed to time out, I received my download code for Pikmin 3. Whoop whoop.
I'm having a different problem. I'm trying to spend 200 coins on Super Metroid, but every time I click the "Get it now" button, it goes to a blank white screen. I missed it when it was 30 cents during the promotion. Missed most of the 30 cent games, unfortunately. And, if you can believe it, I've never actually played Super Metroid. And I grew up on the SNES. I guess I have until the eighth of June for the site to act right.
There's a warning in the site that says starting May 31th it will take 24 hours for a game to register for the promotion.
Alright, thanks. I can wait. Shovel Knight is still not there when I get the code, so I don't need it right now.

Yeah, so I entered my club nintendo code and then it showed the "whoops, we had an error" type of message. Now, it says my code is redeemed and I'm contacting customer service.
This may just be the most tempting incentive for me to buy a WiiU. Played Mario Kart 8 at a friend's yesterday for hours and IT WAS SO FUN !

Finally got my free game (Pikmin 3). Never really played a Pikmin game before and I've always heard good things so I am pretty excited, The Wii U will do background downloading if I turn it off, right? Sucks I left my charging cord for the pad at my friends house in ATL so once it dies I guess I won't be playing it for a while. Anywhere I can buy another official one?

So I finally was able to get into Club Nintendo this AM. Got my download code for Pikmin 3. Here's what's interesting. I just got my MK8 WiiU Bundle on the 30th. The included MK8 physical copy included in the bundle does not have a separate registration. So when I registered the system it registered the game as well. I already bought another code from Shunxsato for NSMBU. That downloaded perfectly off of the eshop. However since Club Nintendo has been spazzing, I couldn't login in properly to get the code I was to receive for my copy of MK8.
For a moment I thought I would have to make a Family Account to get my download. Then I got scared since I had already redeemed a code thinking it could possibly nullify my chance for getting my own free game since I already redeemed one under my account. So this morning I hopped on CN and it worked. The banner came up to choose a game. I chose Pikmin 3 and now its downloading. No need for a family account. So I got two free games based upon the fact that I registered two different versions of MK8. The Bundle SKU and I assume the regular retail SKU from Shunxsato.
