Nintendo Characters in NBA Street V.3

You've got to be fucking kidding me.

He mentioned something in a mailbag about Mario starring in a Basketball game.

Then he said: "It's not what you're thinking either".

Aparently, it was true.

Goddamn. I might end up getting this. :( Why couldn't Nintendo do this with Sega instead? It makes more sense with a Sonic and a Mario team.

Matt Responds: Nothing official to report, but there's a rumor going around that some of the Mario characters may appear in an upcoming videogame basketball franchise. Not at all what you'd think, either.

Yep. Sales +100,000

Now that I think about it would be pretty cool to cross someone up with Princess Peach. I think it would have been a better if they made more realistic "street" versions of the characters, oh well. This is a very odd announcement. I still don't think I'm going to buy any version of NBA street (although I have Vol. 2 for PS2)

This is the doing of that guy! ITS GOTTA BE THAT GUY! What's his name? Freddie?.....FREDDIE DID IT!
......Dewey did it! NONO.........WHAT'S HIS NAME?!

Oh god! That damn yelling American is selling Mario's soul! DAMN YOU DEWEYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!

Interest... rising. I have the original NBA Street on PS2, but skipped the second one because it looked pretty much the same, i'm thinking about getting this one for GC now, but I don't like how the characters look like wax figures.

If it gets this awesome series into the hands on Nintendo gamers then this is a good move.

It would be sad if people bought this game merely to play as Mario. It might help a bit with sales but I don't expect a crazy increase.

It it takes the inclusion of a bunch of cartoon characters to get Nintendo gamers to buy a game then Nintendo has already lost.

You're just jealous. I bet you hate Link too!

What I want to know is are they in some kind of a mini game?

Or are they a fully playable "Harlem Globe Trotter" type all star team?

I'll still buy the PS2 version. EA Big games (SSX, Trickstyle, NBA/NFL Street) can't be played correctly on a Xbox or GCN pad.

i know EA really loves Nintendo. they always show the GCN as their platform for their sports games in their commercials (amazingly, considering)

I think that has more to do with a deal EA and Nintendo signed a year or so ago than actual sales or "love".

The question is...will there be a Mario Basketball mode, as in 6 Mario characters, that you can play separately, or will they simply be a team you face off with with normal characters.

Either way...oh my.
