It probably wasn't too difficult to strike the deal because:DarthWufei said:
A) Nintendo would simply use this to gauge interest for a potential "Mario Basketball" game
B) EA probably paid Nintendo good money for accessibility to their staple characters and it's not as though NBA Street was a bad game to begin with so pairing up the two should be a lot of fun to play
C) the cross promotion provides more exposure to tempt both the EA and Nintendo fanbase to try something they'd otherwise ignore
It's a win-win scenario for both parties. As much as I despise EA for many of it's practices, I have to give them credit for pulling off something as ingenius as this with Nintendo.
